FPL Daily: Firmino injury update

We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

KLOPP ON FIRMINO

Salah’s return, Leicester’s set-piece issues and Martinelli’s ban: FPL notes 4

Roberto Firmino (£8.7m) is likely to miss the first-leg of Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final with Villarreal, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed. The Brazilian is set to remain sidelined with the foot injury that has kept him out of the Reds’ last two Premier League fixtures.

However, there are no other fresh fitness concerns following Sunday’s Merseyside derby win over Everton.

Offering an update ahead of Wednesday’s encounter at Anfield, Klopp said:

“I don’t think (he is ready) yet. He is running outside and that’s good, obviously, but I am not sure. Maybe somebody will surprise me afterwards and tell me, ‘Yes, Bobby is in.’ (I will have) open arms, but I don’t think so. Apart from that, no (new injuries) that I know yet.” – Jurgen Klopp

JAMES/RUDIGER BACK IN TRAINING

The best FPL defenders for a Gameweek 28 Wildcard 2

Reece James (£6.4m) and Antonio Rudiger (£6.1m) have both been spotted in training, offering encouragement that they could yet still be involved in Double Gameweek 34.

James was a surprise absentee against West Ham on Sunday, with Thomas Tuchel saying that he had felt some discomfort in his hamstrings, while Rudiger has missed Chelsea’s last two fixtures with a groin injury.

LIVRAMENTO OUT UNTIL 2023

Armstrong ends goal drought as Livramento keeps up fine FPL form 1

According to reports, Tino Livramento (£4.3m) is set to miss the rest of 2022 after scans revealed he has an ACL injury which will require surgery.

The 19-year-old was stretchered off and required oxygen after picking up the injury against Brighton and Hove Albion in Gameweek 34, an incident which has seemingly brought his excellent debut season in senior football to a premature end.

very much a luxury move, but if city double in 36 would you sell Sterling+Werner for Kdb+striker up to 7.5m?

thinking the same thing, Chelsea will rotate and Sterling is not nailed for a double.

How confident are you he starts away at Leeds

8 days between madrid game so kdb should start but if he's going to miss a game it's this Leeds away game imo.
Worst case I keep Sterling this week then look to make the move for 36. More risk doing it between CL games and Sterling higher chance of starting PL (not that he's reliable)

Sorry I meant how confident are you of Sterling starting GW35

Then I'll either do your move or James + Sterling to KDB + 5.6m Defender

    Which one?

Laporte (most likely to be blocked by others bringing him in)

    Or Jesus?

    3. Eze Really?
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 9 days ago

Let's face it. All Citeh attackers have a good chance of minutes. How many is the question.
Foden and KDB will probably get the most but:
Sterling and Mahrez like battery Bunnies so they can get explosive returns. Mahrez looks like favored for Champions league. Bernardo will get good minutes; he is MOM 9 of 10 games. Is Grealish performing? I would worry more about defenders who were God awful last night. Look for cover vs Leeds if you go rogue IMO. Jesus is an enigma and will be a rogue decision.

I think for as bad as Leicester have been, they've been decent in defence with Evans and Fofana back, and have good full backs they rotate, while Spurs havent shown they can adjust without a good WB

West Ham will have ZERO fit CB when they face arsenal next gw

Depleted westham followed by leeds in a double gw and newcastle everton

With BB36 and FH37, I dont think it would be sensible to downgrade players. Getting rid of Havertz for Son would mean one more lowkey player which reduces the impact of BB since you have already got likes of Schar, Dewsbury and Pukki.

Stick with current setup and use transfers to improve bench players, like Schar to Villa defenders.

Today I learned on Twitter that Lampard was mainly successful due to being privileged. Maybe it's time to start making privilege adjustments for players' achievements? Like for example multiplying best scorers in PL goal tally by a multiplier? For example Lampard had an uncle coaching a team so he has now 0.5*his goals, but if someone was from poor family then he gets 1.25 of his goals tally. Tell me what you think about this idea.

Not captaining salah v utd a couple of weeks ago is probably my biggest regret this season.
I am therefore reluctant to put the armband on kane this gw.

    so captain kane or salah?

    cheers.

Rudiger red flagged and James happy smiling in full training

Takes -4 to swap the 2 players

Both miss 1st game and now Rudiger is back in full training and James is still a doubt! 🙁

I pick Salah between these two.

But I probably pick Kane in gw35.

Chasing a 30 point lead and my rival also has a free hit while I don’t……with that in mind I need a differential captain for GW36:

    A) Mane
    B) KDB (assuming City have a double)
    C) anybody else?

      B

You don't need a differential captain for that 30 point gap with 4 gameweeks left.

A looks best, Alonso has the track record, but Cash is more nailed and has more games, tight call, depends abit on Che Man u

A bit stumped but heres my current plan, any thoughts much appreciated
    Ederson
    Robbo Alonso James Cancelo
    Salah Saka Sterling Barnes Havertz
    J Rod

    Foster Schar Broja ASM 1.6itb

    Current plan is
GW35 Schar to Cash - bench Barnes
GW36 ASM to Rich - bench Cash
    FH38

Any particular reason you want to FH in 38 instead if 37? You could just FH the likes of Cash in for one week rather than buying him, benching him in 36 & then FHing out of the City fixture

True, my main reason is I would only be free hitting in a couple of Villa and Everton players which doesnt seem worth it given I can get one or two in....cant make my mind up tbh

Maybe Palace too? I guess we're both in the same position, weighing up the advantage of those doubles vs taking advantage of shifting league state in 38. If Liverpool slip up before then, and both Pool & City make UCL final, I'd be much more inclined to save mine for the final week too
