With six Gameweeks’ worth of Premier League player and team data now available, it’s time to bring Big Numbers back for the 2022/23 season.

For the uninitiated, this article series looks at the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) statistics ahead of the upcoming Gameweek.

These cherry-picked Opta stats can all be found in our Premium Members’ Area.

Only subscribers can read the full article; those wishing to sign up to our site and continue reading, as well as see a list of the benefits that Membership brings, can do so by clicking here.

Xhaka and Moura recalled as Ramsdale starts again

-3.50 expected goals prevented (xGP) by Danny Ward (£4.0m) this season. In layman’s terms, the Leicester City goalkeeper has conceded on 16 occasions when Opta’s ‘expected’ data reckons he should only have shipped 12.5 goals. That makes him the biggest underperformer of current starting Premier League goalkeepers, while no present number one has a worse save percentage (53.3%).

+2.60 is, by contrast, Jordan Pickford‘s (£4.5m) xGP in the first six Gameweeks, which is the best among FPL goalkeepers this season. He has been in fine form for the Toffees but he’ll be absent with a thigh injury in Gameweek 8, which could be a boost to the Fantasy prospects of West Ham attackers.

14 of Aaron Ramsdale‘s (£4.9m) last 16 Premier League starts have seen the Arsenal goalkeeper finish the match without a clean sheet. His xGP in that time is a poor -5.50, while his save percentage is down at a miserable 57.7%.

0.8 points per match averaged by Lucas Digne (£4.7m) this season, the joint-lowest mean of any ever-present starter in 2022/23 to date.

16 penalty box touches registered by Diogo Dalot (£4.5m) in the first six Gameweeks of the season, a total that no other FPL defender can better. Dalot’s rate of penalty area touches per 90 minutes has more than doubled compared to 2021/22, while he is also currently third for chances created (10) among players in his Fantasy position.

"your Queen" has lots of different meanings to those of us who live in the UK.

The Monarchy is a glorified tourism attraction mixed with a museum show piece.

We don't need 10 days of mourning for this.

500 years ago it meant something. The monarchy causes more divide in the UK.

Prince Charles is not my king (sounds so wrong) time for a rethink.

Didn’t during COVID. They weren’t able to move the deadline, hence why many are glad they didn’t play.

If the deadline stays as tomorrow, it’s a wasted WC I’m afraid.

Last year during Covid, when all games were called off, the deadlines did not move. I suffered.

If you have played the WC, you cannot make any changes after the GW7 deadline on Sep 10. However, all games may be cancelled for GW7 and GW8. There may not be Premier League football till GW9. Lot of things can happen in 3 weeks, which are tough to predict.

    5. Bandwagonesque
      • 12 Years

I played my wildcard this week too.
I actually don't mind. I set up my wildcard team so that it would be a good team from gw 9 onwards. Now I don't have to worry about not having any Liverpool or Brighton players and only Martinelli from Arsenal for their good fixtures in gw 7 and 8.

I also think my team value will increase significantly more now than if the games were not postponed. People will be doing free transfers instead of using their wildcard in gw 8 and 9, which means players like Mitrovic, Trippier, Pope, Rashford etc will increase more in price.

What if fans out there don't care about Queen ? What if there are fans out there who will mourn but would like to see their team play ?
Players ? Most of them are foreign anyway.

People should be given a choice not be forced to mourn and stripped of little joys in life just because some decided so.

Here's the problem. Some people want to mourn, and some people don't give a continental. If you cancel everything to "mourn" you make some people happy and you inconvenience a bunch of other people. The logical thing to do is continue as normal. Those that feel they want to mourn can turn off their telly's, wear sackcloth and ashes, raise a glass and mourn, while the rest do what they want to. It's pretty simple, actually.

100%. I quite liked her, even though I'm no monarchist, but she's 96, lost her husband 18 months ago and had at least 2 years of meetings with Liz Truss to look forward to. She lived a comfortable and long life and probably got out at the best possible time. I also never met the woman, and reserve genuine grief for people who I personally knew and loved.

R.I.P Lizzie, a remarkable woman. As to how her passing will affect football (indeed all sporting events), they should now be cancelled for the next 3 days following her death and then there will also be none allowed to take place on the day of her funeral (Sat 17th Sept) either. I can see a world where all the fixtures in GW 7 & 8 are to be postponed to a later date maybe?

Win the Champions League at Chelsea - get the Sack

Win the League at Chelsea - get the Sack

Be the best manager that modern Chelsea ever had - get the Sack

One must expect the Sack if you take the modern Chelsea job.

This place has turned decidedly weird.

On a separate point, anyone who talks with certainty about future events, that may go many different ways, is the end of a bell.

Just because people don't say something, doesn't mean they don't care.

Personally, I come here for FPL news, not world news.

lacks respect-plus the whole weekend programme appears cancelled yet people likely reading articles and potentially making transfers.

I say cancel the whole season and award the title to whoever is currently at the top of the table. Let people all around the world be sad for a year.

      I concur.

But, at the same time, not much of a difference if they continue playing. The best team will win it anyway.

I guess this is what you call soft power.

    Monarchy, TV, Commonwealth, sympathy, respect...

Nevermind football, the other global force from the UK.

    And language.
