With six Gameweeks’ worth of Premier League player and team data now available, it’s time to bring Big Numbers back for the 2022/23 season.

For the uninitiated, this article series looks at the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) statistics ahead of the upcoming Gameweek.

These cherry-picked Opta stats can all be found in our Premium Members’ Area.

Only subscribers can read the full article; those wishing to sign up to our site and continue reading, as well as see a list of the benefits that Membership brings, can do so by clicking here.

Xhaka and Moura recalled as Ramsdale starts again

-3.50 expected goals prevented (xGP) by Danny Ward (£4.0m) this season. In layman’s terms, the Leicester City goalkeeper has conceded on 16 occasions when Opta’s ‘expected’ data reckons he should only have shipped 12.5 goals. That makes him the biggest underperformer of current starting Premier League goalkeepers, while no present number one has a worse save percentage (53.3%).

+2.60 is, by contrast, Jordan Pickford‘s (£4.5m) xGP in the first six Gameweeks, which is the best among FPL goalkeepers this season. He has been in fine form for the Toffees but he’ll be absent with a thigh injury in Gameweek 8, which could be a boost to the Fantasy prospects of West Ham attackers.

14 of Aaron Ramsdale‘s (£4.9m) last 16 Premier League starts have seen the Arsenal goalkeeper finish the match without a clean sheet. His xGP in that time is a poor -5.50, while his save percentage is down at a miserable 57.7%.

0.8 points per match averaged by Lucas Digne (£4.7m) this season, the joint-lowest mean of any ever-present starter in 2022/23 to date.

16 penalty box touches registered by Diogo Dalot (£4.5m) in the first six Gameweeks of the season, a total that no other FPL defender can better. Dalot’s rate of penalty area touches per 90 minutes has more than doubled compared to 2021/22, while he is also currently third for chances created (10) among players in his Fantasy position.

I really don't agree with any sport being cancelled this weekend. We should celebrate her long life. Seriusly the country has gone through so much shite with lockdown, men kids n women need to get out and if Football let's off steam so be it. I just feel really subjugated and controlled by such actions to be frank. We live in a modern world now , heck, when the Queen came to the crown, her maiden speech even said .....our imperial family...a lot has changed since then aye!

Honestly though, to have us all stuck in and having to listen to the 24/7 tributes..it's Thursday ffs, come the weekend, the well earnt weekend of rest, everyone deserves escapism (as i say, more than ever with whats gone on and going on with all our cost of living misery...let's not even go there).

If you are on WC does the WC keep rolling until the next deadline?

I am going to call the towers immediately. I might make 2M in price changes these next two weeks.

Plus, Matip, Alcantara, Fabinho, and Konate might get well.

    New Pool in two weeks.

The next deadline is Sep 10. No unlimited transfers after deadline on Sep 10.

People will still be making transfers in gw 7 and 8, but probably not wildcarding. This should mean significant price rices on the most popular players.

But if there is no gameweek, there is no deadline. The gameweek is the trigger for the 9/10/22 deadline.

My friend at FPL is on it for me. He's checking.

By the way, my respect to the British people. I respect your culture, traditions, and Identity.

Will be the same as with Covid last years.

The GW deadlines will stand with no fixtures, but you'll get a FT between BGW 7 and BGW 8 fwiw.

That was a mess, they just gave everybody a WC at the restart. They should just roll the GW like a International Break.

In COVID, it started as 10-days to flatten the curve, they never told us the plan had no definite end-in-sight.

In this case, there is a definite bookend to respect the Nation. It's a break.

I'm on WC right now and clueless what to do now 😀

I would love it to just be a break and GW7 would be the next one to take place after the mourning period, but doubt that would happen.

If events and sports are cancelled this weekend it just goes to highlight the depressing nature of how the UK is run… not the people / general public, but the system that runs it, sad and getting worse.

What happens to Premier League football and other sporting events when The Queen dies?

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96. The United Kingdom will now enter a period of national mourning for its longest ever reigning monarch

There are a number of protocols in place for when Queen Elizabeth II dies - and sport is no different.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96 with the United Kingdom now entering a period of mourning with sport likely to be postponed in the UK. Concerning the weekend’s Premier League action, the league told the Daily Star that they will be advised by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in terms of what the best course of action to take is.

READ MORE: Buckingham Palace statement in full as Queen was 'placed under medical supervision

Though a DCMS spokesman insisted no "strict sporting guidance" would be given and the decision would be left down to specific sports, including football. Although the DCMS did confirm that if sporting events were scheduled to take place on the day of the Queen's funeral - they would all be cancelled.

In the interim period leading up to the funeral, it is understood football bosses would have to gauge the 'mood of a nation' when it came to deciding whether or not to postpone games as a mark of respect. It remains unlikely Premier League bosses would be willing to continue with games as normal should they be due to take place within 72 hours of the Queen's passing.

A statement from the EFL read: "Consideration in respect of EFL fixtures will be discussed with the Government and the wider sport sector during the period ahead and an appropriate announcement will be made at the earliest opportunity.”

The Scottish Premiership will be postponed as well as the Premier League

This is a national issue re: England and they have every right to postpone their domestic competition. No vote will accomplish anything in this.

However, as you say, CL will carry on and so will the other leagues. I guess they'll have to do for a while.

I can believe it, having added Mac Allister at the beginning of the week too.

I replaced Salah, Trent with KDB, Sterling (of course with a change of format) after GW2. It forced me to captain Haaland every week since GW3, which was good.

I agree there has to be some protocol in place for today's sad news
I find it strange that "sporting events" get cancelled but not music concerts/cinema/theatre etc.
BBC not showing any comedy (understandably) but you can go see a comedy show.
I'm expecting no games before IB and if that is the procedure, I accept that
Times have changed and this now needs be updated.

      Here's a thought
If the funeral was to take place next Saturday 17th
Could the game week 8 fixtures due on Fri or Sat (only 5 inc Brighton v Palace)
Be moved to Sunday or even Monday before the IB break .

In these times of chaos and grief, let me try a RMT before calling it a day.

    Sanchez | Ward
Cancelo - Trippier - Saliba | Struijk, Neco
    KDB - Sterling - Martinelli - Gross | Andreas
    Haaland - Jesus - Toney
    2FT, 1.9m in the bank.

Plan for using FTs until next game in GW9:
    GW7: Sanchez > Pope, save 1FT
    GW8: Jesus > Mitrovic, save 1FT
    GW9: Struijk > James, Toney > Isak

You want to double up on Newcastle's defence?
I sold Jesus for Toney a few days ago, Haaland Toney Mitrovic is the way forward.
I also have James so yes but don't sell Toney.

        Thanks.

No, I don't really want to double up on Newcastle defense. But, Pope seems to be the second best goalkeeper right now (after Pickford) and I can't trust Everton for clean sheets. They concede a lot of chances. Do you have any other suggestions? Mendy would be nice but I have no idea if he will remain the first choice come GW9.

I hear you about Toney. I need to think more about it, but I have time before I decide.

Which of those move is the most "inevitable"? Which one do I make before GW7?

Yes, I think some United attacker would be nicer to have in the coming gameweeks. How did they look tonight?

          Reply fail to you below.

Never watch United as they are awful to watch but judging by the game they were terrible however Rashford didn't play and is great value at 6.5.

            Thanks.

I was also thinking selling Sanchez is the most inevitable. He plays Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and City in the next 6. When I look at those fixtures, selling Gross is more important than selling Toney.

I am confused whether to buy Pope or Pickford. The latter will be ready to play when the games restart, but buying an injured player is highly risky.

Martinez is a good player and Villa has kind fixtures. But, they have been poor at the back lately. Guaita is not in form (much lower save percentage than Pickford, Pope and even Martinez). Mendy plays for a team who I believe will come good, but new manager, risk of becoming second choice and I wouldn't know before GW7 deadline. Leno is good, Fulham is leaky. West Ham is good, but plays in Europe and Fabianski is poor. Alisson is great, Liverpool is poor. Meslier is ok, Leeds fixtures are ok. Already have 3 from City. Rest of the teams have objectively worse fixtures.

What about Raya? Cheap and decent fixtures. GK is definitely a tough decision.

              I'm selling Gross for Rashford.

    Sanchez
    TAA Robertson Cancelo James Perisic
    Salah Martinelli
    Haaland Jesus Mitrovic

    Ward, Andreas, Dasilva, Longstaff

    0.1ITB, 1FT

What to do with this lot?

    A) Robbo > Dalot
    B) Robbo + Dasilva > Dalot + Rashford (-4)
    C) Roll FT

Tragic to see so many people crying about whether football is on this weekend. The country just lost a Queen that served the country for 70 years yet most of you are more bothered about whether a leather ball is hoofed round a pitch so you can score an average number of points on a game. Hope you all manage to cope of games are postponed as a mark of respect. Get the Kleenex in if you can't.

Your post shows you clearly can't control your emotions. Yes, she'd died and also life carries on. Why be so dramatic, calm yourself down. She was a super servant and would not want 10 days of BBC-led sycophantic mourning.
