Guessing but Spain need the win to ensure qualification and Morata showing good form and limited minutes so yes. Brazil qualified so good opportunity to give Richarlison a rest

Anyone from MD1 still missing points?

My Mbappe captaincy point is still not counted in MD2. Possibly because I transferred him out in the middle of MD to setup my MD3 team.

Just wondering if these bugs is eventually sorted or they just leave it like that even from MD1 ones..

Similar for me on MD2. Unlimited transfers booster and at the end of the match day my points were reduced with 7 points. I suspect Mitrovic, I swapped Richarlison for Mitrovic, both unlocked at the time.

      Oh well.

    1. fenixri
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 27 days ago

      1. Musiala - Pros: Germany has to win; Costa Rica bad(?); Cons: Possible point spread among team
      2. Olmo - Pros: IMO best player in Spain, very active; Cons: PLayed 2 full matches; possible sub off, or maybe not even start
      3. Ziyech - Pros and cons: Play for RO16 against team that dont defend well. Hard to predict game since we dont know how Canada will perform now they are out. I wouldnt say he is talisman like Pulisic in USA, since you have Boufal on the other side, tricky pick imo because I expect them to get into game very careful and play only on counters.
      4. Eriksen - Pros: Talisman for Denmark, his stats are great but no points so far except key passes; Cons: Denmark does not pass eye test for me. This game is perfectly set for Australia, they will defend deep waiting their chance from counter. Point is enough, very tricky game to predict;avoid imo.

Was in this situation before. Stretched to get Sane (double up with Musiala) and downgraded a spot to Klaassen.

Consider Perisic given how soft Belgium is, or stretch to Modric. Or you can try your luck with Tadic or Milinkovic-Savic. I had both the Serbian boys last MD, served me well.

Rashford has had an ok season so far, but for the last few years he’s been nothing short of dreadful. There have been players playing much more consistent football over the last 18-24 months who didn’t get a call up.

Relax bud. He's had one bad year when all of United was having a bad year. He was great the seasons before. I don't know how people say years plural everytime.

Southgate is a bit hypocritical in what he says sometimes. Abraham didn’t get called up because he hasn’t been playing well for his club recently, apparently, despite Maguire being Uniteds 4th choice CB.

Although I could watch the second half I was a slightly surprised that Southgate didn't give Maddison a few minutes. There's a real possibility that we won't see him at all now .... unless we blitz Senegal early on.

The performance of Rashford last night was so incredibly over-rated by the pundits and I really hope Gareth doesn't get influenced by the hype.

Granted it was a good free kick but his general performance prior to that was utterly dreadful. His 2nd goal came from a poor shot hit straight at the keeper which should have been an easy save. The goals just papered over the cracks.

Hope he doesn't start the next game. He shouldn't be used for anything other than an impact sub.

As a member of a divided household last night (Welsh mum, English dad) it was a particularly unusual and difficult game to watch.

Wales had an outstanding first half, but then lost their heads a little.

Injuries to key players didn't help, either.

And can I just say: Foden dived for that freekick - he jumped over the legs! Surely that's where VAR should come in?

What is Fofana position/role in France NT? In game he is listed as defender, but according to expected lineups he is playing in midfield? Any goal threat?

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      3 years, 27 days ago

The L'equipe lineup? Yeah it looks a bit weird to me positionally. I've never seen Fofana play in midfield. My interpretation of it is something like this:

      343
      Mandanda
      Konate Varane Fofana
      Pavard Camavinga Tchouameni Griezmann
      Coman Thuram Mbappe

          • 9 Years
          3 years, 27 days ago

Thx I understood. Did they ever played like that. Not sure Griezmann can play that position?

I read somewhere that Deschamp wants Camavinga in place of Theo, maybe Fofana will play in mid but covering for Camavinga when he goes forward? Something like dmf covering lwb, possible?

Seems like more exciting pick than Pavard

          1. The Mentaculus
            • 4 Years

My best guess is all, could be wrong. Surprised its not a back 4 but I can't see how to make a 4231 with all those CBs. Deschamps has used wingers like Coman at WB previously & Griezmann has generally being playing a bit deeper

Griezmann playing centrally and slightly deeper is non-negotiable for DD, although it is worth pointing out that l'Equipe says that "there are few surprises in store [compared to what has been assumed in past few days], but if there are, they could be significant and involve Mbappé or even Griezmann", although the article then does not touch on why Griezmann could be omitted and focuses only on Mbappé. If Griezmann is actually given a breather, then Rabiot could slot in for a 4-3-3 or Giroud could come in for a 4-4-2/4-2-4, which seems too ambitious for DD.

I think you are looking at
                Mandanda
                Pavard Konaté Varane Camavinga
                Fofana Tchou
                Coman Griezmann Mbappé
                Thuram

Fofana is a deep-lying mid but goal threat still negligible. Should rack up the bonus like Tchouameni has been doing though.

My team has 58 points according the the player scores, but the screen has totalled it to 46. Somehow 12 points have got lost somewhere.

well that sucks, 12 points completely wasted there. Hoping I don't lose my ML by less than 12 points now

Lost 14 points. Changed 13 locked players. Only kept Messi and Dumfries. If I knew there's deduction I'd WC in MD3 instead.

Ridiculous. Also in MD1 I went to transfer an unlocked midfields, and the game sold Neymar instead who was still to play, and meant I had 6 midfielders. Is there anyone we can complain to?

          Wow that's terrible.

It's FIFA related, I don't think a complain can change anything

Yeah I doubt anything will change if trying to complain. I just want to vent really. Thanks for listening, lads

I didn't lose any points. I moved nearly 10 locked players from MD2 for MD3 players who were a mix of locked/unlocked. I think it's down to moving locked captains from MD2 as a transfer out for MD3. On day 4 then there was no option to transfer them out.

I lost a Spanish player to the bench and could not get him on. Also lost a keeper who I could not substitute but that actually saved me 2 points.

Worth Captaining Mbappe today? I also have Messi but on WC so is there another player that might outscore Mbappe?

If he starts, definitely worth a try.

Yes, there might be another player. Jamal, Jesus, many of them

Who's going without Messi today? I think I'm going to ditch him. Pretty sure the game just dies at 1-0 Argentina

Who do you have playing today?

I got 5 - Mbappe, Eriksen, Maehle, Messi, Acuna.

Not counting al-Owais who should stay firmly on my bench, thanks to Noppert

Can't really see a lot of goals today. I'm flexible to react to lineups on WC, but might just play Mæhle & Mandanda

    FPL hot topics:

Who is your 3rd Man City player for the double double? KDB or Foden or someone else?

With no double, no captaincy and with the points being spread across the Liverpool players, is Salah "non negotiable" in your wildcard like the Deputy Editor suggests?

I was actually just going to start with Haaland & KDB from City so not sure who (if any) I'll add for the double. Wary that Foden will just play one & the fixtures aren't great for defence

        So was I.
And I don't consider either Salah or Cancelo to be non-negotiable.
Salah is one of four strong premium options, but Haaland is the only essential one of these four.
Cancelo is expensive and not in great form; there are many other players in all positions that offer better value.
Haaland, Ward and Trippier are the only essentials in my opinion.

I had a draft with 3 Belgians (Castagne, Trossard and KDB) but decided I would ditch it if Belgium went deep at WC.

Which they absolutely will not, so KDB for me.

How do transfers work in round of 16? Are the transfers locked at the first deadline, or do we get to transfers freely throughout the matchday as on wildcard?

I think its WC til the first game kicks off, then 4 transfers to use within R16

I think so too, but it's not perfectly clear and makes quit a difference

I'm pretty sure that's it. Sure as I'll ever be with this game!
