People focus on the fact he's a "DM" too much. He's been returning since second half of last season. Feel a fool for not having him myself, especially at his price point and he hardly gets rotated

His finishing is excellent though. Ariel threat, good long range shot and pops up in the box. There's much worse options, but there's also so many better.

While I'm glad Foden got 4 points, I don't see the reason to bring him on if benched due to illness... no one else available, presumably fully fit? Citeh coaching staff are bonkers.

All other things being equal, I’d go Sterling (& I can’t believe I’m saying that!). But it depends on the rest of your team.

If you’ve got Saka then Martinelli is probably the one to sell. Then if you’ve got Jackson but no Liverpool I’d go Diaz. But if you’ve got Salah but no Jackson then I’d go Sterling. But if you have both and were doubling up on either Chelsea or Liverpool, it’d be 50/50 for me. Probably Sterling due to fixtures and him being more nailed on for minutes than Diaz.

Watkins to Isaak doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade to be honest. In fact, Watkins underlying stats are superior to Isaak in most of the important categories - minutes, xG, xG per min, xAssists, xGI, all superior for Watkins (and it’s not that close either). I’d steer clear of that change entirely.

Honestly, this chatter about Rodri is just banal to me.
We only have 5 MF spots - you aren’t gonna use one of them on City’s DM are we!? That just isn’t how you play FPL.
We always go for the attacking mids because over time, they get more points.
Would anyone be that shocked if Rodri didn’t score again this season?

    1. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

Nailed, check. Budget price, check. Goals and assists, check. One of the top 5 scoring mids already, check. Decent fixtures, check.
If you don't want him, don't pick him. If you are right, then you will overtake the people who aren't playing FPL how you have determined it should be played, whatever that means.

      1. thegaffer82
        • 14 Years

        Goals and assists check.
That’s the problem. You buy him, and they dry up.
But yes, you are right, if I don’t want him then I won’t buy him. And I for sure won’t be.

Rodri is a great asset for his price, as is Casimiro. Both nailed on for 90 virtually every game for top 4 teams. Casimiro’s xGI is 1.54 so far which puts him 16th for all midfielders (similar to Rashford, Diaz, Sterling & Foden), while Rodri is 1.10 which puts him 30th for midfielders (similar to Kulusevski, Havertz, Jota, Son, Martinelli & Grealish).

If you’ll overlook them because they’re considered defensive midfielders, regardless of their effectiveness going forwards, that’s your loss.
