Luton have significantly worse big chances conceded and non-penalty xGC away from home when compared to Forest, and Sheffield United for those considering Saka.

      Rashford lol.
I would back Neto and Gordon to outscore him, and Palmer and Adingra to run him close.
So his true value is probably 5 - 5.5 m this year.
He has been the single biggest mistake I have made in FPL this year. The idea of persisting with him is sado-masochism.

Plus he'll be getting dropped in real life soon.

Darwin owner here but Gakpo being back almost makes me want to sell him. He won't play more than 60-65 minutes if he starts and it's a headache every week. Need to bring in Watkins, so it's one of Darwin or Alvarez that needs to go. Will monitor Darwin and Gakpo's minutes tonight

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

It hasn't quite materialised yet with the injury v Spurs & cramp keeping him out v EVE, but I'm fairly confident that Darwin is first choice now & about to explode. Gakpo has been pretty poor up top, especially v Wolves

      1. Qaiss

        2 years, 2 months ago

Had him since GW4 because I thought I'd be able to predict his starts for a few weeks and I managed to do so, but with their games coming up now on Sunday, much harder to predict

Half-time sub tonight and I'll probably keep but it's tricky. Feels horrible selling Alvarez

I think he will start both tonight & Sunday after Klopp's comments. I could be wrong in showing such patience with him but for me it was the 90mins v LASK / 80mins v WHU on Thurs-Sun which was the clincher that largely dispelled my mins concerns (plus the pressing comments around that time)

ManUtd's game against SHU is grim reading. Sheffield Utd created higher xG than ManUtd (1.4 v 1.1), that's over 18% of their whole season's xG and more than they've created in any game this season. They also had 5 shots on target in that game, also over 18% of their entire number of shots on target for the whole season, and they've only had more shots on target in a game once (Everton).

Who are ManUtd playing this week again?

    1. VGD

Remember though, City only beat them 2-1 as well. So did Spurs. Sheff United's style is so defensive it means they struggle to score but some teams find them awkward to get through. Newcastle found the weak spot, however.

    5. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

Bit crazy to be talking about next season lol, but I have a new lesson learned from this season - and that is to trust my own opinion and what I am seeing.
The game in question is Wolves v Man U. We watched it, we saw Man U be awful offensively, and Wolves be very exciting/enterprising and robbed of a deserved victory. But we wrote it off as a one-off, Man U will be better, Wolves will not be that exciting offensively - with Onana/Hooper decision overtaking the narrative.

Cut to 9 gws later, and that result and performance is not an anomaly. These teams showed us exactly what they were about this season, but I didn't react quickly enough to what I saw in FPL... Rashford will come good, Neto burned me last season, fixtures will be good for Man U etc.

There are example games early at the start of each season - games that at the time we write them off as unusual results but shouldn't. Last year it was Fulham v Liverpool on day 1. The signs are often there from the start of the season (or even pre-season), we just often choose not to react to them in time and pick what we consider to be safe options.

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 2 months ago

Indeed, I missed that game but kept up with livetext and comments here and read endless negative comments about the performance. Luckily I only actually played Onana once (that match) and got rid of Bruno shortly after his haul v Forest

    6. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo
      • 5 Years

They're playing a team that hasn't managed to record even 1.0 xG in any one of their last 3 EPL games?

So who to captain between Haaland and Salah?

I think I am going Watkins

      2. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 2 months ago

True, but it's City, and they're still 2nd despite two losses out of those 3 (both games without Rodri too). Not to mention they faced Arsenal and Brighton. I feel like with City I often try not to look at xG too much given they have a fair few players (Haaland, Alvarez, Rodri in particular) that tend to defy xG

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 4 Years
          2 years, 2 months ago

Did you think there was any tangible improvement v Brighton with Rodri back? It is a tough game generally speaking but I would have them to create a bit more against that lineup with March/Milner/Igor & statistically that doesn't seem to be the case (I wasn't able to catch the game though)

        2. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo
          • 5 Years
          2 years, 2 months ago

Brighton at home, with a back 4 that includes Milner, March and Igor is a perfect game to rack up a score/xG though?

I don't think City even want to smash teams any more. We are seeing, like Arsenal, a focus towards controlling games rather than battering teams. Arsenal were exciting last year but are mirroring City's style in that regard more and more. I prefer the likes of Newcastle, Villa, Liverpool and Spurs this year for attacking players in FPL - these teams seem to have more of a "cruel" streak to them in terms of inflicting massive scorelines.

Haaland will always score lots of goals, and lots of points, of course. But he must be judged as a £14m player now and that bar is very high. The fact that Salah has Luton in the same week as Haaland's most captainable fixture over the next 8 or so games means he can be swerved, in my opinion anyway.

Plus Utd generally do ok/raise their game v City.

          1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
            • 5 Years
            2 years, 2 months ago

True, I would normally have expected more. I think they're just going through one of those lean periods they have had a habit of going through at some point in the last few seasons, and I do feel like there are signs they'll break out of it soon but I don't know when that'll be

I thought about it but figured why spend a transfer on doing something that you don't need to do? I did the Alvarez > Watkins thing before but realised I probably should have both so dropped Haaland. I think Saka and Maddison will probably bag similar returns over the next few weeks though.

Sell one of Estupinan or Udogie for Gabriel:

    A) Udogie - poor fixtures, looks tired and would allow a move to one of Romero or Vicario if wanted down the line

    B) Estupinan - currently injured but back in training, nice fixtures coming up

Can get a back three out easy enough this week with either move

Sounds like you've made your choice. I don't think Udogie has bad fixtures (Palace right now is good, and the next few after it are good from an attacking pov, Wolves and Villa arguably very good). Didn't think he looked tired at all either, he was injured

    Trippier + Porro + Richarlison + Neto —> Gabriel + Tsimikas + Mitoma + Son for -8.

I don’t like taking hits but the exact value won’t stay for long and feel it will set my team up well. Any thoughts?

      * Saka not son

Very risky IMO, all the players you're selling can easily return.

Agreed, especially for the -8, I may have to have another think of a way to get arsenal/brighton

Losing Trippier and Porro as part of a -8 feels wrong to me, even considering who you're bringing in.

This. Both great defenders to have

Perhaps just richarlison to Mitoma and hold off getting arsenal in for another week?

Trippier and Porro to Gabriel and Tsimikas seems like a sideways move. Personally, I would only shift Rich for Mitoma.

Thank you good point, I am apprehensive of not owning saka but I would probably also be apprehensive of not owning trippier if I didn’t have him already!

I think Trippier is a must keep because he is the only defender that can rack up so many points from attacking returns and bonus, whereas other mids can score similar to Saka.

My only concern with Trippier is can he sustain these returns? He got 9 FPL assist last season, he has 7 so far this season. As soon as he goes on a bad run, he becomes a liability at his price point.

Guess if you sell him then you can practically afford any other defender.

Difficult run of games too, with a game basically every 3 days for next few weeks, is making me worry he may drop off as well, but appreciate this could equally not happen

    A) Trippier
    B) Saliba
    C) Pau
    D) Udogie

For me it comes down to:

    Palmer and Salah

    Or

    Saka and Darwin

Too big of a risk of so not to have Mo?

Stuck between these two options for my 1FT.... Any help?

    A) Alvarez - > Watkins
    B) JWP - > Bowen

    Current team:
    Areola
    Trippier Cash Porro
    Salah Son Maddison Gordon JWP
    Haaland Alvarez

    Turner; Taylor, Archer, Kabore

i'd say watkins because of his hot form for villa recently, his history of scoring last season and coz he is highly owned so if you have him, it protects from damage to your rank.

But I feel point difference wise there won't be much between Watkins and Alvarez. Especially when compared to JWP vs Bowen.
        It's difficult...

B makes more sense but it's hard having no Watkins. However, I wouldn't want to lose Alvarez.

Yeah, Bowen is West Ham's talisman. If any goals are scored, he's normally involved. JWP playing deeper recently so less chance of returns.

    Morning,

Anyone help me with Brighton info?

I see they have a few injuries so was wondering what's the chances of Adingra getting a good run?

Brighton have a good run of games, he would could be a great budget pick.

His main competition was Solly March, who is out for a "long time". Buonanotte can play there too but hasn't featured much this season. I expect Adingra will start most if not all games over the next few weeks, but maybe with heavily managed mins

2 but would get Palmer or Soucek over Luiz and beware of Saka potential price rise.
