this is why fpl cant be taken seriously as a competition. a suspended game is very predictable, but not having a set of rules in place before it happens to deal with whatever the pl does is a joke. replay it within a few days, have a rule. replay it later i the season, have a rule. accept the tie and dont replay it, have a rule, etc.

theyre making up rules mid season (as I know theyve done before), but thats why you cant take it seriously. its designed for the casual fan and run by morons. still fun, but it cant be taken seriously when they literally make it up as they go along

Agree - their rules are points final an hour after the last game of that day and they should have stuck with that and awarded the points as they currently sit

Exactly this. Gameweek is finished. They should just stick to their rules that everything is sorted 1 hour after the last game, base everything on information available at the time and just move on. If the game was called off they wouldn't have waited to see if the game was going to replayed in the same gameweek.

Next time there will be a keep the game open/don't update outcry to resolve an issue.

youve just scuppered your own argument. if one of the games hasnt technically taken place then the gameweek isnt finished and in that case Liverpool v united isnt not the last game, theres still one left, when thats played thats the last game of the day . abandoned due to a medical emerency. thats the only thing of note from the game, everything else is moot. none of the stats from it will count towards anything in the prem league so why should they in FPL? (unless of course its played from the 65 minute)

Games points should be void if a rematch is scheduled and points from the rematch should count whenever that is!

The same or more applies to FA & EPL, who still can't decide what to do with the fixture.

The circumstances being unprecedented and also having major outcomes to a lot of FPL team are clearly weighing in on FPL to handle it as delicately as possible.

Moving forward both associations need to have this spelled out in their rulebook really.

Agree. I don't see why they had a hard set rule for the March goal last season, saying they can't go back and change it due to their predetermined cut off, yet for this they don't have any such set rule in place whatsoever.

Perhaps there is a conversation about whether the game will be finished/replayed this week? neither in Qtr finals this week

Similarly if it is decided that the game will be in the future but played from 65mins, how would points work that way for appearance, bonus etc

Not sure why everyone is getting so impatient, let it ride

So much angst when waiting for PL to declare the situation its ridiculous. No competitive sport accepts this level of entitlement from its competitors

The rules should follow whatever the PL decide.

If the game is abandoned in full and needs to be replayed then all points are wiped and auto subs come on.

If the remaining half hour is played to conclusion then points should stand plus add on bonus points.

It shouldn’t be complicated and I am sure that is what will happen. It’s the only logical solution. It’s not fair but it’s logical.

      1. Gegenpress
        • 9 Years

Exactly this and most likely scenario is that the game will be voided and replayed at a later date.

Hence FPL should jusy cancel / void current points and autosubs come in.

This will probably be the case but they are peonably waiting on the PL to finalise the rematch in case it gets played within this gameweek (highly doubtful)

If there's no announcement of a re-arranged game in the next few days then I think gw17 points have to stand and bonus added.

You can't blank it out if there may not be a new fixture if a future week.

Guess we'll know by Wednesday evening...

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. I'm surprised they extended the deadline instead of just giving the points already to be fair, as these decisions usually take time to sort out and reschedule

    2. The Final Boss
      • 8 Years

Don't know why they are waiting. Fpl is an official part of pl right? Surely by this time they should have known whether they are rearranging it on another week completely or partially or rearrange this week itself. The only way to keep the points is as if they rearrange the fix in this week which is unlikely. They oly need to know whether fix is rearranging this week behind close doors or whatever and apart from that any decision means no points to players imo. Solanke owner archer to come on for clarity.

Solanke owner here and I’m amazed that the points haven’t been wiped already.

As far as I’m aware, the Abandonment means that the Premier League Table doesn’t recognise the result, therefore FPL shouldn’t recognise it being played either, no matter if it’s the 1st minute, 65th minute or 89th minute. It must and will be replayed.

I wish it wasn’t that way for my own benefit but I can’t understand why its taking this long to get to the inevitable.

I think they can't wipe it until they get confirmation it's being replayed and not restarted after 60-odd minutes.

If the final half hour was played another week (as I've seen happen recently in other leagues) then these points would be valid for this week.

Relatedly I assume it's taking time for a PL statement because of multiple parties being involved, the fact it's only the start of the working week and there's likely continued sensitivity around Lockyer's health.

There's also that other option where they can decide the match completes at less than 90 minutes (probably where both teams call for/ in favour of it, I dunno), which makes sense why points can't be wiped yet. I'm just boggled why it's taking so long to decide on it.

      3. ryacoo
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

FPL can't wipe the points until it is officially decided that the game will be replayed in full. Until then, the possibility remains that only the last 30 minutes may be played or that both teams may settle on a draw and move forward.

The FA's rules leave room for that possibility: “The board may order a league match which for whatever reasons lasts for less than 90 minutes to count as a completed fixture or to be replayed either partially or in its entirety."

The problem is, that decision may not come for days or weeks - are FPL really going to keep the GW17 deadline open indefinitely?

It's worth mentioning because I wouldn't be surprised if there's no news on a new date until January or after fa cup games as that opens up blank weeks too.

So it might not be the slam dunk either way.

          Or a dgw.

I think I come out of it better either way ... other than the present holding position but that's not the point either.

It's an interesting impasse but easily enough to resolve.

Time will probably be the decisive factor as it is.

Villa defence double up might lock you out of a midfielder if they were to ever become an option. Would swap one of Martinez or Konsa.

Well I have a decent team for GW18 as it stands and I think he'll be back after the blank. If he's not back I have a decent sub for GW19 too.

Thanks. I'm in a similar position.

I guess the rub is whether you feel tempted to downgrade Haaland and use the funds to buy Trippier/Trent/Porro (latter was the one many of last week's Haaland sellers went for). Or just hold and wait for funds for such transfers from Son/Salah when they leave

Honestly think 80%+ of players on here already sold him when there were at least 2 GWs he was missing for
Now depends on if we get any more injury news (e.g. if he's in squad for the game tomorrow)

Or comes off tomorrow or Friday hobbling if he's even fit to play.

Everton away isn't a walk in the park either ...

Gw20 hopefully he's okay by then.

Thinking of using Free Hit this week. Team in a right mess:

    Leno / Areola
    Pau Digne Udogie Tsimi Gabriel
    Salah Son Hwang Saka Cheapie
    Haaland Alvarez Darwin

City players back GW 19 plus will know if Digne is going to play over Moreno. Sensible play?

Haaland to Watkins gives you a decent team for 18.
Maybe even roll the dice on your 5th midfielder for the next few weeks with someone like Kudus or Bowen or Richarlison for a hit?
Either way, I think you can put out a decent XI this week.

      Leno
      Digne Pau Tsim
      Son Salah Saka Hwang Rich
      Watkins Darwin
      Areola Gabriel Alvarez* Udogie*

It's not too bad. FH upside is there if the Villa guys looking like doubts though.

I'm completely baffled about Livramento's expected minutes in the next few.

Two good fixtures of course, but given the situation with Schar (doubt), Burn (LB/LCB), Botman (CB) and Lascelles (CB) unclear, he could easily start 0 or 2 of those games. Luton feels like a game you want as many big lads as possible.

    Any takes?

    1. Zenith UK
      • 9 Years
      1 year, 11 months ago

I think Burn gets a rest vs Chelsea, Livra starts with Trippier (given Trippier had the weekend "off") and he misses the Luton game.

That's my worry. Current plan is between:
        (A) Keeping Livramento and maybe selling Saliba for Porro
        (B) Livramento to Trippier (blocks a straight transfer to Haaland in 19 fwiw)
        (C) Livramento to Porro

        So I'm watching closely.

Yeah it's a tough one. Has played really well, Newcastle fans signing his praises but does probably need a rest. Hall is eligible for tomorrow interestingly - so Trippier + Hall playing in the cup would probably be the best outcome for Livramento holders.

          Yeah - new news today!

"From what I understand the reason we’ve allowed Newcastle to field Lewis Hall tomorrow is simply because he needs to play a certain amount of games to trigger the buy clause in the contract.

We’re trying to help Newcastle help us. #CFC"

We need to see if Burn and Botman are the preferred CB pairing. If so then Livra stays until Schar returns.

Seems NU needs to rotate players to stay fresh and the backups did awesome. Lasceles is playing himself into the 3 lions. Why have Guys like Tomori and Maguire that don't even play as starters for top clubs. AC Milan is not the same as the old Milan. Current Milan is less than Brighton. It's like Crystal Palace in EPL.

Seems too soon to know. I would expect NU to use lots of players as they become healthy
