  1. Eze Really?

A few decisions that create variance:
One of my major rivals in my mini league that has 50 participants and I would say 40 know what they are doing.
After a crushing 19 points 2 GW's ago of 19, he came flying back with 4 remaining players.
He chose Palmer as captain with Salah vice. He had no Haaland.
He chose Trossard to get 3 Arsenal and due to uncertainty with Raya got Martinez in goal.
Lack of funds forced him to get Trossard who got 11 points and unlucky not getting a goal and additional bonus.
Normal pics like Robinson with 7 points came in due to having Gvardiol a safer pick and not selling him for Lewis, paid off.
Getting Guehi he he has been stuck with rather than TAA was a bit of luck he admits getting 9 points and everyone having Mbuemo.
With Martinez, Semenyo. Watkins and Rogers still to come and having 106 points and a mil ITB, it goes to show the variance just over a couple of weeks. He had one fail in Gabriel!
It just goes to show, no content creators can compete with a small amount of choices when many of my mini league are on less than 30 points. All the copying and advice in the world cannot compete with luck HA HA.

Or as we say in my mini league: it’s a marathon, not a sprint!

        Totally.
I just think the Content creator template differs enough from a 9 mil rank he had 2 weeks ago into a top 50k rank he is likely to end up on. Those numbers are week ranks not overall.

Small decisions can have enormous apparent effect. Swapping my captain and vice captain around and the team would be top 1k OR. Feel like I've been incredibly lucky that the last few WC templates have largely failed. Even Raya playing was a bonus as it saves a transfer this week.

45 with Digne, Rogers, Semenyo to play. Do you think this will be an average score once everyone has played. Went from 9k > 50k > 58k the past three weeks mainly due to the wrong captaincy.

There is some absolutely bizarre things being said on here regarding palmer and him having tough fixtures. Are some people actually watching how good he is because I’m shocked that they think fixtures will stop him scoring very well. All teams are taking risks at the back, there aren’t that many tough fixtures for attacking players.

All about variance. Sometimes history dictates our moves; even when each week is a clean slate.
To note: Haaland missed a sitter yesterday and he was kept quiet with Newcastle playing well compared to prior weeks.
      The game suited Newcastle.
Another thing to note was Gvardiol getting forward with Pep going back to the closing days of last season; albeit, without 2 key players. MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU!

I too have done my kneejerk due diligence to see how I could fit Palmer in immediately. And came to the conclusion that to rip up the team structure literally the week after a wildcard would be shameful.

Your team is good. Stick with it for at least 2-3 more GWs and reassess. He's not scoring 4 goals every week.

Omg this team needs help!!! After a WC brain fart in GW4 i wildcarded into the below shitshow from a fairly stable team and can't seem to stem the tide of bad decisions. Was a respectable 182k last yr and well over 4mill now!

    GW2- only Captaining Haaland.

GW3-taking isak out for Watkins then captaining Watkins over Haaland.

GW4- Wildcarded badly taking OUT Watkins, ESR, McNeil etc etc.

GW5- nothing horrendous just nothing great either . Jota over Diaz and Pedro over almost anyone else on WC

GW6 so far! Haaland (C) just following the crowd, transferred out Jota and Guehi for Saka and Gabriel for -4. Got Rogers, Pau, Greaves and Dibling left and only on 24pts.

Current GW7 line up. 0.0 itb only 1ft

    Raya
    Gabriel, Taa, Pau, Greaves
    Salah, Saka, Eze, Rogers,
    Haaland, Pedro

    Subs
    Verbruggen, Stephens, Chimowe, Dibling

Was leaning towards rolling and maybe 3 transfers for -4 the following week if needs be. Pedro may come good in GW9 v Wolves and from GW12 they have a good run. Eze is the most likely to go just not sure whether to take him and verbruggen out for 4.0gk and Mbuemo or to McNeil and say DCL/Vardy/Wood price fwd.

I moved Pedro out, feel likes he’s just going to be a headache, the manager isn’t shy about rotating, he’s picking up knocks, manager is vague on info, just seems like a headache who can be avoided.

You know what you're probably right. On paper, cheap striker for attacking team on pens, reality whenever I have owned him is injury prone, points dodging rotation risk. Thanks.

I went to DCL, he may be a case of out of the frying pan & into the fire but he has less threats to his position & feels fit so he definitely feels less of a headache.

Can just leave him in for 5/6 GWs now and not think about it.

Thinking this is the direction i may go in. Might just cut my losses and do -4 eze, pedro to McNeil and DCL for long term, when Verbruggen goes out id still have some change to sort bench out. Thanks for this really helpful.

Despite lack of Palmer, had a surprisingly decent day yesterday - but still hit WC, had issues to sort.

At the moment, what would you change here?

    Onana (4.0)
    Gabriel Dalot Robinson (Faes Greaves)
    Salah Mbeumo Barnes Rogers (ESR)
    Haaland Havertz Solanke

    1) Salah to Palmer is tempting, would you also then do Barnes to Diaz to avoid going Liverpool-less?
    2) Onana + Rico Lewis (or any defender in that bracket) or 4.5ish GK + Dalot (caught his price rise…)

Well for starters that’s six mids, unfortunately!

McNeil not just a flash in the pan? Not sure on him long term over ESR (or Barnes).

No real interest in doubling Arsenal defence with Raya tbh. TAA also expensive!

My bus team has it on him because Southampton are worse than Fulham and do stupid stuff at the back but I'm a bit torn by it to be honest. Saka doesn't look like scoring in open play so you've got to hope they score from a load of corners or Southampton gift him a goal.

On reflection and this isn't hindsight, I mentioned it on here before the game, Newcastle (A) was always going to be a hard game, one of the few red fixtures on the ticker for City in a season. I think Pep acknowledged this by going with the control (Grealish & Silva over the other two) over the chaos so I wouldn't be writing off Haaland after one quiet game. I expect to see some signs of chaos in the Fulham game and Fulham probably getting a bit of a kicking if I'm honest.

He won’t (haven’t owned him and won’t) but he’s not going to stop scoring points, is he going to be better than Haaland, Saka, Salah & Watkins though? That’s who he’s competing against.

This week was a once in a season type performance, they happen for some players but it’s not the norm, well done to anyone who had him.

What I loved though was listening to a pod that morning who talked him down because of the data & touches in the box being down massively, imagine how many were influenced by that, watching games would tell you that he’s still going to be a threat whenever they get something.

Think the game is being driven by too much data with very little context being factored in.

Not sure if it’s worth it
He’s fixture proof but his fixtures don’t look too appealing the next few.

Best way to squeeze 0.5m to get Haaland back in?

    A) Colwill to Greaves (play one of Faes/Greaves/Robinson each week)
    B) Havertz to Solanke

Maz - can’t be doing with the stress of Pep roulette each time the lineup is announced for a 4.5m (starting price) defender

Is it really stressful around a 4.5 defender? It’s not like they are keeping loads of CS anyway.

Well. Just check their points this season so.far.

It is just an indicator and probably mean nothing in terms of their real quality, but yeah they seem to be.doing quite well.

They aren’t but if you have the choice to pick a City asset or United asset you’d naturally pick the City one (unless you’re a United fan)

I have Lewis & see his points (if they come) as a bonus, the alternative is 2 points from teams who are not as good, it’s a risk worth sitting on.

Just plenty of other nailed to start 4.5m starting defenders elsewhere but I get your point that few of them are regularly returning points from CSs

I'm looking at the same re moving out Eze but there's nobody I like short-medium term. Don't trust Man Utd's attack. I'll probably just hold him because of what you said at the end but also he's an enigma of a player, his only attacking returns coming so far in their hardest game. It would not surprise me at all if he punished sellers vs Liverpool because he's the sort of player who can score against anybody from anywhere.

I'll keep for the next few, so I can upgrade him to Palmer for free.

Also, formations aside, who would you rather have for the nice run of Spurs fixtures?

    A) Solanke
    B) Maddison

Would you roll the transfer for the below, barring any injuries today and this week.

    Raya
    Gabriel / TAA / Lewis
    Saka / Diaz / Mbuemo / Semenyo
    Solanke / Haaland / DCL

    Fab | Rogers | Mykolenko | Greaves

    Thanks

That’s an easy roll, we have the same 11 apart from I have Watkins to your Solanke, if you go through the GWs, you can build 5FTs with that team.

Greaves has a decent fix when Semenyo has a tricky ones.

I can't remember if a captain in the early Saturday game ever delivered.

    Never again.

I've always thought it was a psychological thing from FPL managers but maybe there is more to it and the players can't get themselves firing at that time of day on a Saturday? It would be an interesting study to see who had a decent game and would have been captain worthy, probably doesn't actually happen all that often. I'm not feeling like Haaland failed either it was a tough away game. If you're auto captaining Haaland you just have to accept its a shield move designed to limit damage at the end of the day. His points are in danger of becoming irrelevant.

True about the relevance of his points; as long as you cap him.
The last thing I want with Haaland is hiding behind a sofa every time he plays.
His EO will most likely always be above 144% every game week.
