Calafiori and Timber nailed? A bit worried that Arteta may rest Timber once or twice in a congested schedule not to risk him getting injured. Any thoughts?

I thought I would do this as I haven’t for quite a while and I couldn’t see it anywhere else.

    REF Watch!
That blanker in the Black, Blue or Green who can ruin your weekend, seemingly on a whim. Well how whimmy are they really? Before I start, I’m gonna say there is no xRC or xYC available before you ask, but since all RC’s are checked or upgraded by VAR I’m gonna say they are reasonable at least. Now on with the stats! All information is taken from http://www.premierleague.com/referees/index (stats) and http://www.premierleague.com/news/4170623 (Who’s reffing this GW).

Referee Games Total RC Total YC Avg YC pg
    Michael Oliver 10 1 53 5.3
    Anthony Taylor 10 1 47 4.7
    Samuel Barrott 7 0 45 6.4
    Robert Jones 7 4 38 5.4
    Chris Kavanagh 7 3 49 7
    Stuart Attwell 6 1 26 4.3
    Peter Bankes 6 1 24 4
    David Coote 6 0 33 5.5
    Tony Harrington 6 0 23 3.8
    Craig Pawson 6 1 28 4.6
    Darren Bond 5 0 28 5.6
    Simon Hooper 5 1 31 6.2
    Tim Robinson 5 1 31 6.2
    John Brooks 4 0 22 5.5
    Darren England 4 2 21 5.2
    Jarred Gillett 4 0 27 6.7
    Andy Madley 4 1 17 4.2
    Sam Allison 2 0 13 6.5
    Josh Smith 2 0 9 4.5
    Lewis Smith 2 1 6 3
    Thomas Bramall 1 0 5 5
    Michael Salisbury 1 1 2 2

    Basic Stats.
So, of the 110 matches reffereed a total of 19 RC were given and a total of 578 YC were given. That’s an average of 5.25 YC per game and a RC every 0.172 games. That means that just under ¼ of players (23.86% to be accurate) are booked per game so far this season.

So, who is going to be the person most likely to ruin your weekend?
Easy, Chris Kavanagh. It appears he has some new shiny cards he wants to show off this season as in his 7 matches he has given a total of 49 YC; The 2nd most, behind only Michael Oliver (on 53) who has reffed 3 more matches, and also a total of 3 RC! Averaging a whopping 7 YC’s per game and a red every 2.3 games. For reference only 6 of the 22 current referees have an avg of 6 or over YC’s per game. It appears Mr Kavanaugh wants to be part of the spectacle. This weekend he takes control of Everton v Bournemouth, with only Keane on 4YC and spectacle looking in short supply it looks like Mr Kavanagh won’t be able to cause too much damage. But if he gives his usual splash of cards and maybe a red, taking him to 1 every 2 games, he may be of interest in upcoming Gameweeks for those still precariously balanced on the suspension tightrope.

    Anyone else?
Personally, I would put Robert Jones next. He has also reffed 7 matches and while his modest YC total of 38 gives him just above the avg at 5.4 per game, his red card total of 4 in 7 is crazy. This man changes over half the games he’s reffed so far. This weekend he’s in charge of Fulham v Wolves. Those with Aït-Nouri, Samedo, Gomes and Toti will be looking on nervously. But with this man in control, anything can seemingly happen. Additionally Samuel Barrott who averages 6.4 YC per game takes charge of Southampton v Liverpool and Simon Hooper who averages 6.2 YC per game takes charge of Arsenal v Nottingham Forest.

Hey guys, pondering what to do here.

    Team for this GW is:

    Raya
    RAN - Gabriel - Lewis
    Mbuemo - Palmed (vc) - Salah (c) - Son
    Solanke - Isak - Cunha
    ____________________________________
    Fabianski: Rogers: Konsa*: Mosquera*

    1FT, 0.1 ITB

Options I’m looking at I’ve the coming weeks is removing the likes of Lewis, Son & Solanke, perhaps even Mbuemo.

    For now, considering these:

    A) Son > Bruno/Saka (if fit)
    B) Solanke > J.Pedro (bench Rogers)
    C) A&B for -4
    D) Solanke + Lewis > J.Pedro + Konate/VVD for -4
    E) Roll & play Rogers and bench Solanke or vice versa

Lots of options to choose from really, any input welcome.
    Cheers gents.

    A) Haaland and Johnson to Isak and Salah
    B) Trent, Johnson and Mbeumo to Hall, Salah and Dibling (8th attacker) for a -4

I think it all hinges on whether Isak is as good or better than Haaland this week, and I think he might be almost as good. However, B solves my defender issues and saves me having to play Rico Lewis

      • 12 Years

These are my exact possible moves, what are your own thoughts?

      1. Steve McCroskey

Also, is Winks not a bit more nailed than Dibling? Very minor point

        1. FeverPitch

I’m sure he is but I think I prefer the (somewhat) attacking threat of Dibling - not really interested in a 2 point merchant.

It’s tough - I think a non Haaland team is probably the way to go, but I always get the Haaland timing wrong. Back to back braces and Salah to go off the boil a bit and suddenly it’s a nightmare scenario.

For this week, a lot has been made of Spurs’ inability to defend, but their defensive stats the last 4 weeks are actually not too bad at all. They’re missing both their centre backs by the sounds of things, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to bloodbath - it could be somewhat galvanising, potentially.

When I simplify it, if Isak is 75% as good as Haaland for the near future, option A should be a no brainer for the squad balance. And I think he probably is. So option A is probably the way to go?!

BUT. I have a strange feeling it’s a good time to get off both Mbeumo and Trent, with the former’s numbers somewhat stalling. So. Maybe option B…..

          1. Steve McCroskey
            • 12 Years
            1 year, 1 month ago

            Fair enough on Dibling.

The only thing putting me off A is that I'd have to hold onto Trent and start with a back 3 of Gabriel, Aina, Lewis.

I need you to make this decision for me, I've been so unfortunate this year and know I'll make the wrong choice.

A, but I think you can do better than Colwill for 4.5, Kerkez for example

Yeah Colwill was just an example 4.5, Kerkez isn’t a bad shout though

    A - Ait-Nouri
    B - Hall
    C - Collwill
    D - Lisandro Martinez

Also bench which of the forwards?
    1 - Cunha
    2 - Joao Pedro

    Thanks in advance

What's the deal with Zinchenko? Why he's out of favour this season? Didn't follow it very closely, but any chance he starts some games in the next, let's say 5-8 fixtures?

I think it’s mainly due to him being bad

He’s weak defensively. Think he got found out in some big games last season.

Hi All. I have 2FT and £3.2M in the bank. Trying to decide between two options:

    a) Trent & Semenyo > Brighton Defender & Palmer
    b) Trent & Mbeumo > Gabriel & Palmer

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
