Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

Listen in on the squad selection via this link.

Alternatively, stream it down your pipe using the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I know everyone is asking the same question, but please if anyone could offer any tips on this.

    Juss, Feder

    Ivanavic, Hange, Zaba, Williams, Tierney

    Ramires, noble, bale, cazorla, allen,

    torres, aguero, pogreb

    2m in bank

    Thanks V much :O)

to me cazorla is a little too much for the money. I know its only a slight difference in price but I would rather have proven attacking points such as bale in there. then you can take that extra and hopefully upgrade pog. Otherwise I like it!

Green; Onuoha Ferdinand Nelsen Fabio; Taarabt Faurlín Mbia Park Hoilett; Cisse

I think Diakité ahead of Faurlin as Ale is just working his way back from injury.

Very excited if the news is true that we are getting Stephane M'Bia on a 1 year loan deal.

I have faith in Vorm defensively and thats it. especially with siggy and caulker gone and a new coach I doubt they are going to fair as well as they did under Rodgers. If anything Vorm is gonna get a ton of saves this season

DID YOU REALLY CHOOSE TO READ THIS COMMENT?

Suppose that Fred existed shortly after the Big Bang. He had unlimited intelligence and memory, and knew all the scientific laws governing the universe and all the properties of every particle that then existed. Thus equipped, billions of years ago, he could have worked out that, eventually, planet Earth would come to exist, that you would too, and that right now you would be reading this article.

After all, even back then he could have worked out all the facts about the location and state of every particle that now exists.

And once those facts are fixed, so is the fact that you are now reading this article. No one's denying you chose to read this. But your choice had causes (certain events in your brain, for example), which in turn had causes, and so on right back to the Big Bang. So your reading this was predictable by Fred long before you existed. Once you came along, it was already far too late for you to do anything about it.

Now, of course, Fred didn't really exist, so he didn't really predict your every move. But the point is: he could have. You might object that modern physics tells us that there is a certain amount of fundamental randomness in the universe, and that this would have upset Fred's predictions. But is this reassuring? Notice that, in ordinary life, it is precisely when people act unpredictably that we sometimes question whether they have acted freely and responsibly. So freewill begins to look incompatible both with causal determination and with randomness. None of us, then, ever do anything freely and responsibly."

^ This is food for thought.

What you said was bleeding obvious! Don't get the Ramires love myself.

Kompany, Cole, Terry (c) (Demel, Clyne)
    Guthrie, Valencia, Bale, Dyer (Pieenar)
    Graham, Podoloski, Aguero

I'm going an all out approach for the backs, Cole-Verm/Nani/vidic/baines GW3. None will get rotated.

I'm putting pieenar on the bench because of Man U, while Guthrie has 2 games so should be 4pts just there

Is it worth downgrading vlaar to clark to save 0.5m? I have 3m in bank to bring in rvp for torres next week. I'm worried about price fluctuations though so thinking it would be safer to have 3.5m in the bank. I'm pretty set on my team otherwise.

Could i please get your opinions on this team guys?

    deGea - Cerny

A.Cole, Zab, Hangeland - Gunter, Demel

Ramires, Cazorla, Bale, Michu - Britton

    Tevez, Torres, Graham

3m in bank for torres > RVP GW2

I know its about as generic as most other teams, but would still like comments please as i'm pretty certain im leaving it as this now. Thanks.

I kinda wanna stick with Ramires, but who would you relace michu with for the same price of 6.5m? i need to keep the 3m spare for my beloved RVP.

i like it. except britton and degea doesnt sit right with me anymore. he will get 70 - 80% of the games and your 2nd goalie does not play.
downgrade degea and upgrade bitton imo

The Fanasy Team of 2012 I present

I would really appreciate hearing your views

    jaasky/fed
    Zab/A.Cole/hangeland (Demel, Clyne)
    Bale/Mata/Lamps/michu/Guthrie
    Aguero/Tevez/Graham

    £0 in the bank

goalies suck, who cares. No one wins this off the back of the goalies and CLs are getting few and far between

    Defence, strong, balance

2 x Chelsea mids – Torres is an unreliable arse. seriously, would anyone really be surprises if he gets 4 points for the dgw?
The points will come from midfield as usual. Hence Mata and Lamps

forwards….graham..ok standard. but Aguero and Teves, they will tear Southampton apart. and i refuse to be the guy to make the wrong pick between the two.

now this is where the magic happens… i see lamps as a wild card, in combination with either Cole, Teves and Aguero. lamp plus one of them can be pretty much any 2 players i wont them to be. rooney, Rvp… who ever.

so i milk the dgw, milk the city game, no Tevez Aguero mistake. i can sit back swap lamps +1, for the form man u player or what ever with no gw 3 head aches – boom!!

I originally thought two chelski mids was a bit too afr but your logic backs that up, i like it man. Cant really see any major cracks within it.

Plz review mine above if you would please 🙂

Bloody hell, I actually got worried your team was identical to mine! I have 11 of the same players as you do... Main difference is I went for Ramires instead of Lampard and got in DDG and a 4.5m defender.

i have been toying with that idea. but when it comes to shipping lamps out, i can swap in anyone, pretty much with no real grief

True, my only concern with my current team is it will probably lumber me with Ramires for a few weeks.

Sounds good to me. You planning on keeping Aguero and Tevez combo all season long? It seems like there's a lot more going with that.

Honestly I don't think thats a bad choice at all and I would put money on there being more points between those two compared to Rooney and RVP

It memory serves me right he was the highest scoring spaniard mid last year, michu is a beast. I think this couples with Graham's recent show of form will be a decent combination for points
