Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

    Cole/Rangel/Hangeland/Tierney/McCartney
    VanderVaart/Sigurdsson/Pienaar/Allen/Guthrie
    Aguero/Torres/Jelavic

    At GK, switch Cech to Vorm after wk 1 and then shouldn't need a backup for next seven matches
    In midfield. move Cole out after wk 2, others are cheap but can usually field three decent options

    Have 0.5 to spare now, then another 1.0 after Cech to Vorm

    Thoughts? undecided on Allen

        Probably only keeping one, but then again, my double-dip in Spurs midfield served me well at start of last year. Sold off Spurs when they ran out of steam mid-season.

          I don't really know. Garrido is probably an improvement over Tierney if he's on a similar level as he was a couple of years ago when City sold him. Even then I still don't feel all too comfortable about Norwich defenders, I think they might concede quite a few

          The min he can have on the bench is 15.5m.... way too much, could invest 2m of that elsewhere or keep it in bank to upgrade later

          I dont think so but its your team and you should use whatever strategy you think is best.. I prefer to have a couple of "cheap as you get" subs who are starters of course but would only come in in emergencies or if they have favourable fixtures. I like to make sure these cheapies rotate well with whatever first players they may need to come in for, at some stage. The extra money can then be used to strengthen elsewhere. Just my opinion though 🙂

        Cole is more nailed than Ivan IMO. Luiz can play rb

      To be honest i'm not convinced Yaya will e bombing forward regularly. Chelsea were down to 10 men when he started doing it, and Silva's return won't help. I like your team though, but as i said warlier, you'll never play Noble, which is a waste imo.
