As we wait for the launch of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), we’ve had our first summer refresh of every club’s set-piece and penalty takers.

We’ve included the table below for illustrative purposes but the Penalty and Set-Piece Takers tab will be the place to go for this information throughout 2025/26.

HOW WE COMPILE THIS LIST

FPL notes: Salah penalty, Kane nets + sub Jota saves Liverpool

The table is based on a mix of information gathered from last season’s matches (with extra weight given to the most recent fixtures), the FIFA Club World Cup and what we see in this summer’s pre-season friendlies.

This last line is key, as more and more new information will become apparent as the warm-up games go on. Already, for instance, we’ve seen new Crystal Palace signing Borna Sosa taking corners in a friendly.

We’ve listed the players in an approximate order of prominence at dead-ball situations.

For example, at Leeds United, Pascal Struijk took four of Leeds’ five penalties in 2024/25 and was off the field when Joel Piroe scored the other in February.

Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell took the bulk of Leeds’ corners but are no longer at the club. Of the remaining players, Illan Gruev was by far the most active at dead-ball situations.

Struijk, Piroe and Gruev may all be warming the bench next season, of course, but we’re sticking with known information as it stands.

We try to avoid speculating in this table. For instance, Habib Diarra could be the answer to Sunderland’s penalty-taking woes, but until we see him take one, or Regis Le Bris confirms he’s on spot-kicks, we won’t pre-empt it by adding him.

Luke O’Nien, Wilson Isidor and Patrick Roberts are names to very much be taken with a pinch of salt in the time being – they all missed from 12 yards in 2024/25!

What we will do in another piece coming up later is look at clubs where penalty-taking duties may be up for grabs. That’ll be the place for speculation but the table will, where possible, try and remain data-based.

How can this be determined when you have 3 players standing around the penalty spot, covering their mouths and chatting intensely and taking the ball out of each others hands?

      you must be a parody

Of course this can be determined

its never going to be 100% accurate but is meant as a guide

Good luck trying to predict who will take the next Arsenal penalty. Modern football teams are moving away from designated penalty takers set in stone. I assume this is to confuse the opposition.

The other thing with this is the big teams are getting huge squad depth. Your Saka's of this world won't be on the pitch when you get a 85th minute pen because he's been subbed for Martinelli or Madueke or Nwaneri or whoever, game state dependent of course.

Precisely. Mistakes and fouls in the box are more likely in the latter stages of the game as players tire as well.

Chelsea probably one of the best examples of a 'modern' team, having one of youngest average ages. Top quality coach coaching and facilitation. Palmer takes all our penalties when on the pitch.

Which is why they've listed 3 for Arsenal. Just take a day off, better still, a season.

    Hello everyone!

A few weeks away that have felt like ages in this off-season, but happy to be back with the FFS team and community as we gear up for 2025-26 🙂

Now all we need is for FPL Towers to hit the big red 'Final Update' button! C'mon, guys - don't you know we've all got tinkering to do?

Diarra at Sunderland is a £30m signing
So he should at least get starts
Hopefully the pick of the £4.5m midfielders
Penalties aside he averages a goal every 10 games so might be worth a punt

You've just described why he won't be £4.5m

    2. Funkyav

yeah no way he should be 4.5

I think he will probably be 4.5/5m but there wasn't a need for a 4.5m midfielder last season and there probably won't be this season depending on how they price the game. Also his goalscoring record for 7th placed Strasbourg in France which was only 4 in total so nothing to shout about, its as many as Fabian Schar managed last season for example, probably isn't all that relevant when considering Sunderland who won't be a top half team. I do think he's a good signing but you probably won't need to choose any promoted players, there will be options at your Brentford's, Brighton's, Fulham's of this world at a little bit more with far more upside.

Hello, been very out of the loop.

Have any prices been revealed or any potential dates for the relaunch been mooted?

    Thanks

No prices. Some of the content creators speculated on dates, many of which have already passed us by. I thought price reveals would start last Monday after the CWC final, but nothing.
Honestly, I don't know why they are being so secretive about it. Why not just tell us the launch date. Or even just say 'Hi guys, hope ye all had a good summer and are looking forward to FPL'. It's meant to be a community, not an 'us and them' relationship. Come on FPL, include us a little in the process. Please!

I think that guy second from the left is totally hoping Palmer absolutely destroys his testicles from his free kick.

Keep an eye out for De Cuyper, he could be the next penalty and set piece taker for Brighton.
