With many of the big clubs choosing to splash the cash this summer, there are plenty of highly-priced midfield recruits firmly under the Fantasy radar over the first few Gameweeks. In today’s Members article, we analyse the displays of Santi Cazorla and Shinji Kagawa against Sunderland and Everton respectively, and also run the rule over Eden Hazard’s first couple of league appearances in a Chelsea shirt:

Rather bizarrely, all three players’ last games for their respective clubs saw the trio produce an identical number of successful passes in the final third – a figure superior to any other player in Gameweek 1 and a clear indication as to how important they will prove to be over the season ahead. Looking at their roles within their new clubs, we compare each player’s stats to key individuals within their own teams as well as highlighting how the trio differ from one another in style:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

The genius that I am I have a Norwich and QPR defender, need to pick one. Which team do you think is most likely to keep a clean sheet.

I, also a genius, had both their keepers AND a defender from each 😀

      Hence the wildcard.

That is a horrible decision. I doubt either will, maybe look at who's more likely to pick up a jammy assist or goal. Who are the 2 defenders in question?

    Hm. Fabio vs. Clyne

Play the defender who shipped 5 goals but who bombs on and plays another team who shipped 5 goals??

Or Clyne - similar standard of opposition - but at home so more chance of a cleansheet.

I'm leaning toward the flair Fabio option - but worried both teams will have been told to chill the hell out and defend.

I don't really like this argument when it comes to 4.0m players. Do you HAVE to play all your players? You have to have a squad of 15 and sometimes need a bench warmer or two so you can upgrade where it matters.

Afternoon everyone. Sorry to do this again, my final plug before i close entries to the league tomorrow.

Just created it. It’s called ‘Captain Fantastic’… the idea of the league is sort of like last man standing and your overall points don’t matter. You’re only eligible to enter now if your captain scored 6 or more in GW 1. From then, every GW your captain has to score 6+ to stay in the league, and i’ll kick people out regularly as i look through the teams to see the captain scores. Last man standing wins. Just a bit of fun, trying to get lots of teams in it before the deadline on Saturday. Also, i've kicked a couple people out already as they captained Vaz Te ( ❓ ) and Mata respectively, so don't join unless your captain scored 6 or more this week. Lastly, if you know you've failed one week, then don't hesitate to delete yourself from the league as it makes things easier for me, not to say i won't still be checking though.

Anyway the code is : 4-441572 if anyones interested...

Ramires --> Lennon could be a great differential punt if you wanna be mad this week.

McClean is a good choice it's just Sunderland don't exactly seem like banging in the goals recently. Might change with Fletcher and Saha though.

thanks! I think sunderland are going to be more of a threat with Fletcher and Saha. I already have siggy and Bale, and nervous enough as it is! I think I will hold off. for this week

Probably already been mentioned on here but Chelsea have signed Cesar Azpilicueta, any Chelsea fans out there who think that it could affect Ivanovic?

How do I fit some attacking Man United players into this team?

    DDG, Federici
    Vidic, Ivan, Hangeland, Gorkss, Clyne
    Toure, Noble, Michu, Lampard, Cazorla
    Torres, Tevez, Petric

Only 0.5 in the bank, don't want to use WC.

Neither have a game next week.....Ramires is hardly a points machine and Rooney will do well this GW.

RVP(c) in, Torres out for -4?

Otherwise I'd captain Bale, what do we think?

    Green (Federici)
    Clyne Cole McCartney (Hangeland Pearce)
Michu (c) Bale (vc) Kagawa Yaya (Mata)
    Tevez Graham Torres

I'm struggling here, I'm unsure if I should bench Mata.
I'm also considering a transfer, of either mata to cazorla, torres to jelavic or federici to jaaskalainen. Leaning toward Cazorla, but then I would struggle to put him in the team...any suggestions?
