Sir Alex Ferguson has handed Fantasy managers a major boost this morning by revealing Robin Van Persie will be fit to face Wigan tomorrow afternoon. The Dutchman was subbed off at half-time by Louis Van Gaal in his nation’s 4-1 win over Hungary on Wednesday and with no official club statement, many had feared the worst.

Hardly known for his quick healing powers, Van Persie’s availability is of significant news this weekend, with a substantial majority expected to hand him the captaincy ahead of the Latics clash. With four goals in his first two starts for United, Van Persie has wasted little time in maintaining his outstanding scoring record in the Premier League and with Wayne Rooney still absent due to a thigh injury, Ferguson – like many of us – will be heavily reliant on his summer signing from Arsenal to continuing his scoring spree tomorrow.

Ferguson confirmed at this afternoon’s eagerly-awaited press conference:

On the injury front, everyone’s fit….You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks – we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa. They’ve all done it before, although with Shinji we don’t know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he’ll be okay.

As the fixture schedule now starts to pick up, Ferguson certainly doesn’t need to take any unnecessary risks. United face Galatasaray at Old Trafford next Wednesday before embarking on a tricky run of league matches which sees them travel to (liv, new, che) and a certain degree of rotation up top can be expected, with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez set to pick up more game time over the next few weeks. For now, though, Ferguson’s words have soothed us and offered plenty assurance – we can forge ahead with our Fantasy plans for the weekend with confidence renewed.

    Great news. Captain right there!

Now, Someone sell Pienaar to me. Never been convinced, stats aren't great but i am considering him for Evertons fixtures, doubling up with Baines, surely one of them will do something most weeks!

      I dont have Pienaar, but;

He benefits from Baines runs giving him room around the full back, and his stats from last season show just how many assists he can get in a short space of time.

Drenthe was equalling promising, so I think its more the position than the player, but Pienaar does have good understanding with Baines.

I am more interested in Jelly at the moment with Piennar's uncertainty. Also I had a strange dream in which Jelly scored 4 past united at Old Trafford, I don't often dream of football so I think ill take it as an omen. Baines and Jelly for me.

He's an option aswell. For me it comes down to Pienaar & Fletcher or Maloney & Jelavic. On paper the second option looks better but the catch is i'd have to rotate Maloney and Guthrie depending on fixtures. With the first option i can just happily play Pienaar and leave Guthrie on the bench.

Fellaini a better bet to score until Moyes pushes him back when Mirallis & Naismith are fully fit (though one will play RW). With Krul & Coloccini out and Newcastle having a poor record at Goodison Park I'd expect Fellaini to pay off this week

RVP (C) though? A 10 minute, 1 point cameo is not out of the question with CL coming up. Cazorla (C) feels safer. Gahhh, I hate these decisions. They're ultimately based on insufficient evidence.

They could be winning comfortable but he wants 10 minutes pitchtime to 'keep his eye in' with the team. It is two weeks since they played together.

Thats why I think he will play at least 60. He hasnt fully jelled with the team, and not playing him will undo all the good work so far with the midfield interaction. Welbeck can play the UCL match as their group doesnt really present any threat whatsoever.

    from last post 🙁

Thank God for FPL and the premiership in general.
Being a Rangers and Scotland fan doesn’t give me much excitement on the footie front and this International break has been awful.
So glad Prem is back and my team ready to roll.

Bale -> Hazard done and team all set.
I reckon the starting 11 is correct but always willing to take advice and general cheek on board

    Jass
    Gibbs, Jenkinson, Rangel
    Hazard, Yaya, Kagawa, Michu, Fellaini,
    RVP, Tevez

    Mignolet, Pog, Saylor, Demel.

my only concern is keeper with Jass away and Mignolet at home.
Norwich looked dreadful so far but then again Pool not looked great up top.

I appreciate that RVP's ownership is considerably higher and thus I accept he should get more coverage.

I mean if we're on the subject of ownership, RVP is owned by 31.2% of managers and Kags by 17.2%, including many here.

Anyway the articles are great, I'm just interested in why Kagawa hasn't received the same backing, because this might influence my decision.

It's poor form making it only about RVP, as far as I can tell, the same information has been released about both players. Fergie didn't say explicitly that RVP was MORE fit than Kagawa. He said EVeryone is fit except Smalling/Jones.

It's still quite vague. It's a project to design a water distribution system, from the pumping station to the Tank and then all the piping etc. Absolute monster.

Ah I see. So glad I dont do drainage as our lot seem to get endlessly lost on it as their are endless possibilities. If you cover concept design well then they will realise your not an idiot and give you high marks! +put in loads of massive excel tables and they wont read it 🙂 I am assured this is how to do well on drainage coursework.

Yeah this ties in with my first hunch which is that the Kagawa situation is more complex and they don't want to be embroiled in it. A short mention of that would have cleared it up.

Nothing sinister in it - just a headline and RVP is the headline act. Kagawa is covered in the quote we've used and, for my money, we have to go with Ferguson's statement that all are fit and available for selection. Whether he feels Kagawa is affected by the flight or wants to rest him or other players is another matter though - we can't really offer insight into that. Ferguson has surprised us on several occasions.

Cheers, it's of course totally reasonable that RVP is the focus here and you're trying to post only the most reliable information. It's just that looking at the "everyone fit" quote my first thought was "well Kags was the only other injury doubt so he's equally good to go isn't he?". I was worrying that I might have missed something.

I have banked my 0.1 profit on Jenkinson, feeling that it would be a wasted transfer in a few weeks time.
Now I'm considering Davies instead of Clyne for my WC defence.
If I have to "waste" a transfer on him I will be in the same boat anyway...hhmmm.
4m punt on Davies? Make sense? Thanks.

I think it's worth it. I think Laudrup is a straight shooter and his words suggest Davies sharing pitchtime with the new lad. 4.0m for a Swan defender who will sometimes play is good value to me.

    Decisions decisions on a wc

    Foster / jask
    Baines / gallas / demel / davies / gorrks
    Barfa / pinarse / caz / morrison / mitchu
    Jelly / tevez / rvp
I could do barfa + jelly to haz and lambert, but I see haz as being a rotation risk for the champs league and jelly is a far better prospect than lambert?

Definitely. He is the player that United have been missing i.e someone who is quick and can pick a pass playing just behind the striker.

Hello everybody, I have been saying for over a week now that my old mate Fergie will rest RVP this weekend.

      His press conference confirms this.

"On the injury front, everyone’s fit….You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks – we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa. They’ve all done it before, although with Shinji we don’t know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he’ll be okay."

For me, that is Fergie directly saying that he knows Chicharito can play tomorrow, in place of RVP, who will be rested for the 2 big games coming this week.

He didnt mention Chicharito's name for no reason. This is a mental trick telling Chicharito that he will not be tired tomorrow.

I cant make it any easier for you guys.

Azziliectic (spelling may be inaccurate) provides competition. Though I would probably get Ivan on a WC. However, the sensible have not wc'd and so your vision is being skewed towards those that could not pick a decent team first time round. (I fitted this category last year)
