Spurs win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989 as Andre Villas-Boas’ side triumph in the game of the season so far. Gareth Bale is the main protagonist for the Londoners, as United’s defensive frailties are exposed yet again:

Going Up

Gareth Bale
In a Gameweek where many of the popular midfield picks failed to produce the goods, the Welshman continued his return to form with a goal and pair of assists at Old Trafford. With a home clash against Villa up next, Bale can expect to pick up plenty of interest over the next few days.

Jan Vertonghen
Having found his eye for goal in the midweek Capital One Cup win at Carlisle, Vertonghen notched his first league goal of the campaign as Andre Villas-Boas’ side won for the third Gameweek in a row. With (AVL, sot, WIG) amongst his next four fixtures, the potential for point looks good for the Belgian at both ends of the pitch.

Clint Dempsey
Picked ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson for the role in “the hole”, the US international vindicated his manager’s decision with his first goal of the season. Dempsey – who has a mere 2% ownership in FPL – could be a real differential pick over the next few games, with a starting berth in the Spurs XI now seemingly assured.

Wayne Rooney
Sent on for Ryan Giggs after the break, Rooney was forced to take up a wider position, with Shinji Kagawa keeping the role behind Robin Van Persie. He made an immediate impact, setting up Nani for United’s first, and with a free-kick hitting the woodwork, he’s offering a real alternative to the Dutchman up top as we look to freshen up our Fantasy squads.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, the Red Devils failed to keep out their opponents at the back. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have conceded in all but one of their six fixtures so far – with trips to Newcastle and Chelsea in the next four, in addition to a home clash against Arsenal, sales of their defenders look likely to pick up.

Robin Van Persie
Normally, an assist isn’t too bad for a day’s work. The Dutchman has still managed to produce attacking returns in all of his starts this term but with the likes of Nikica Jelavic, Luis Suarez and Demba Ba all racking up the goals earlier today, and with Rooney now back for United, many may be tempted to look for alternatives to the 13.5 priced Dutchman.

Going to do Yaya to Bale, but I really need Guthrie to play with Berbatov injured.

    http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/readingfc/s/2121412_guthrie_trying_to_fit_into_reading_fc_style_of_play

Danny Guthrie admitted that he is trying his best to adapt to Reading’s style of play after being dropped for their 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.

The former Magpies midfielder had started in all four of Royals’ previous Premier League games, but was on the bench for Saturday’s draw.

The tried and tested duo of Mikele Leigertwood and Jem Karacan were preferred to the 25-year-old who tweeted his frustrations to his 132,000 plus followers after the game.

He said: “Great point today and performance from the boys - for those asking I'm bitterly disappointed not to play.

“I'm trying to fit into the direct style of play the manager wants and I pass to [sic] much at the minute which is my best asset

Hey guys, can feel my team slipping before my very eyes, so have decided on a potential wildcard team, could you please run your opinion over it?

    Foster - Begovic

Baines, Ivanovic, Hughes - Demel, Clyne

Bale, Cazorla, Fellaini, Garcia - Sterling

    Ba, RVP, Podolski

Any improvements would be greatly appreciated.

Hey man, i like the option of you doing a straigh hazard to bale swap and maybe wait on ba but like u say he's hot on form and can easy score past man united, hazard & tevez to bale and ba? thats what ive done anyway 🙂

after oing ivan to gibba & garcia to nolan, leaves me 8.9 for a striker.

Hazard + Tevez ---> Ba and Bale will be for -4 for me. Are you going for that?

IMO podolski or Jelavic. Triple on Arsenal or Everton not worst idea with their fixtures or cheaper bracket Fletcher or Lambert.

yeah im going for that mate, need to catch ba whilst he's hot, won be long before tevez starts dropping and ba sky rocketing, and bale, well, learnt my lesson, started with him, switched for hazard before his 3 game haulage! never again lol. i'd do it, totally justifies a -4 hit, would even if it was -8 point hit imo.

i like the thought of jelavic, got fletcher in atm, is jelavic nailed on by the way?

Tevez will drop tonight. I did the same thing with Bale too.

Yes Jelavic is nailed on. I have got in Fletcher on my WC in GW for 9,9,9 (maybe) so either is good. Think I am going to do the hit tbh. seems as if AVB Spurs are gelling

yeah, bit of a pain wit hthat bale to hazard switch before theyir roles reversed wasn't it, ah well, problem corrected.

jelavic seems a good shout then, need everton attack cover really.

So would you think its a good idea for me to hit my wildcard tonight? and then chop and change as i see fit until next gameweek? (team is linked), however, would leave me with no chelsea cover?

spurs are defo gelling, could see it easy today.

I had Pod but actually transferred him out after one GW just because he seems to be subbed around the 65-70 minute mark in most matches and would personally prefer one who's guaranteed near 90 mins. I'd prefer Suarez instead of him if you can afford. Wouldn't be a big fan of Garcia as a pick as he is a defensive mid and won't get many attacking returns

unless u got ivan at 6.5 I would consider shipping him. Maybe look at the sunderland df or even Vert if as he looks like he's gonna score a few goals this season. Not sold on Pod but if you don't fancy Fletcher/Lam then sure why not. Garcia?? -> Ramirez for a differential.

To be fair part is luck but part is keeping tabs on form and watching games/MOTD. Actually watching the football gives MASSIVE insight into which players look like they are about to go into form. Suarez for example (and also Liverpool) have been playing well over the last few weeks despite poor results FPLwise and in reality, but sooner or later they were bound to turn it around.

The thing about Suarez is that he has pretty much played really well for one and a half year. But he hasn't put the ball into the net enough. He's not one of those players that just has to show that they are playing well before you get him in. He has to prove that he can put the ball into the net. Otherwise it's purely a gamble.

I'm feeling like this site is mainly about people chasing last week's points.

Before I insult everyone, I realise some really, really good FPL players hang around here. And the bad ones are quite possibly better than me.

My point is suddenly pretty much every transfer comment now involves ditching Hazard, and getting Bale. Oddly there was no talk of getting Bale in last week, and little of dumping Hazard. Anyone suggesting buying Bale at week4 would presumably have been shot. I imagine everyone suggesting Pienaar and Baines as essential will go a bit quiet too.

Obviously some tips come good (Suarez) and some tips were probably good value but didn't come off (Pienaar?).

I do like this site by the way, just realising the massive pinch of salt to be taken with a lot of comments.

I think this post lacks a neat conclusion, but its 2am on Saturday so whaddyagonnado.

Pienaar has been excellent value, if I remember correctly he's got me 3 assists and 1 goal...

Bringing in Bale for Man Utd away was never an option. But now with his fixtures looking good and form clearly there he's a good pick. I know what you're saying though, there's a lot of knee-jerking going on today, it's to be expected.

If you think there was no talk of ditching Hazard or bringing in Bale, you have been missing a lot of comments. Both have been fairly common ideas over the last couple of weeks.

I brought bale in GW 4 :D. Form temporary, class permanent. I knew with Dembele that Bale was always going to get plenty of service, With ade playing as well that will improve further due to hold up play.

Cheers dude. Turns out that my proposed Berbatov & Tevez > Suarez & Aguero would have worked out quite nicely but i couldn't face the 4 point hit in the end.

But Berba > Suarez was pretty sweet anyway so shan't complain too much!

TBH i did have him on my watchlist. He looked dangerous over the last few week to score a few points, Hit the bar and get forward. Only probably i've got Rafael/Baines which are doing great and don't want another expensive defender. i do think he will deliver in the next 5 game, not sure which match though.

Going to stick with Tevez for the Sunderland game and see if he gets more game time. If not i will look at other options. Might go Suarez or possibly Crouch to save some money and bring in Bale. Think i might have missed his points though now :(.......Reading looks like a great game for the Suarez armband.

Guess that is my point in a way, a lot of advice is "Get Baines/Pienaar" not - "Southampton couldn't defend Fort Knox, get some Everton in". To be fair, this is a minor quibble.

I didn't have any of the Everton holy trinity...but to be fair without the sort of creative thinking round here I probably wouldn't have stuck my neck out with (C) Jelly, which has come off nicely.

I guess its like most things - first you listen to advice, the next stage is when you understand *why* the advice is being given.

Alot of people waiting fr a big DGW might find they are already 200+ points behind lol. If your team is broken just use it and fix it now. No point in saving it for a rainy day when everyone else will just be able to buy umbrella and no one will get wet. ( How was alanogy?)

Great analogy, I agree 100%. Have a decent team next week so 2 week break is best. Easily 50 points lost so far just from keepers, Baines and keeping Graham.

Well Guthrie may have gone to non playing, good quote at top of this page .. oh heck here it is:
      thanks to feanor

Going to do Yaya to Bale, but I really need Guthrie to play with Berbatov injured.

      http://www.getreading.co.uk/sp.....le_of_play

Danny Guthrie admitted that he is trying his best to adapt to Reading’s style of play after being dropped for their 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.

The former Magpies midfielder had started in all four of Royals’ previous Premier League games, but was on the bench for Saturday’s draw.

The tried and tested duo of Mikele Leigertwood and Jem Karacan were preferred to the 25-year-old who tweeted his frustrations to his 132,000 plus followers after the game.

He said: “Great point today and performance from the boys – for those asking I’m bitterly disappointed not to play.

“I’m trying to fit into the direct style of play the manager wants and I pass to [sic] much at the minute which is my best asset
