Last time out our selections went wide of the post and left us contemplating a hat-trick of narrow misses. That leaves us delving back into the piggy bank to fumble around for another ten-sheet to stake this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Fulham and Liverpool both held up their end of the bargain by keeping a cleanie, but their hitmen Luis Suarez and Dimitar Berbatov failed to make their mark at the other end. Kevin Nolan poached the goal we needed, but 15 minutes later, Adam Lallana struck a belter into the roof of the net to send us home out of pocket.

To stay in the black, and keep the Flutter positive, we’ll need a winner this outing, and we’ve some fine Scout Picks to choose from.

Santi Cazorla failed to make an impact with his sharp movement and quick feet as Norwich edged to a 1-0 win over the Gunners last weekend. With a midweek Champions League defeat adding to the suffering, surely Arsene Wenger’s men can’t slip to a third setback when bottom club QPR visit the Emirates on Saturday? Paddy are tempting us with odds of 4/1 on a Santi goal with a Gunners clean sheet and we’ll go with that for £2 of our money.

Stoke have been grinding out the draws this season, with five in eight games, preventing them from making an impression on the top half of the table. They’ll be glad of the points on the board with matches against the likes of Chelsea, United and City now behind them, and they’ll surely be confident ahead of a kinder run of fixtures given that their point man Peter Crouch is in bloom. Stoke take on visiting Sunderland, who under Martin O’Neill are always a tough prospect, but Paddy’s 11/2 on Crouch to score and Stoke to make their fourth cleanie of the season is decent value for £4.

Our final market rests on a team on the brink of mutiny, if you believe the some of the recent press. Roberto Mancini might be seeing the dressing room slip away after a scathing Champions League defeat to Ajax in midweek, but that doesn’t change the fact that City remain a strong prospect this weekend at home to Swansea. Aleksandar Kolarov seems likely to earn another start having been rested to the bench in the Dutch defeat and his goal and two assists against Sunderland are still fresh in our minds. Installed in the Scout Picks, the Serbian is worth a quid to score and help the City back line keep it clean as Paddy dangle odds of 6/1.

With £3 left from our tenner, we turn to the high-risk big-reward treble to see if we can’t bag a decent return. Paddy are offering 13/1 on Newcastle’s in-form striker Demba Ba to score, Chelsea’s man of the moment Juan Mata to add to his impressive assist tally and Man City to stop the likes of Michu and Wyane Routledge from making a mark and keep a clean-sheet. We’ll back Mancini to get the dressing back onside and earn a solid home win and, with Ba and Mata on fire – this one looks favourable enough.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Any ideas why Hazard is so low down on the captain poll folks ?
I know it is United at home, but Chelsea have been very good at home and I see no reason why Hazard will not be involved. I see Mata has more votes...but you cannot really put a sheet of paper between them can you ?

I have RVP as vice...been weighing up whether he is a better bet than Hazard...but I will stick on Hazard, simply as Chelsea are at home and will be up for this match.

But with only 1% on captain poll, am I am missing something here ?! 🙂

Southampton is a tricky fixture how? In terms of fantasy potential for Bale, it is about as plum as you can get. Southampton have let in 24!!! goals already....

Hazard could do well this week, as Mata did against Tottenham last week. But putting the armband on Hazard is more risky in my opinion.

Everything points to Bale scoring. He's got a new baby to celebrate, SOT are leaky as hell, he is the main creator in their team. Hazard on the other hand, has 3 other explosive midfielders and their striker to contend with for points.

Any changes need to be made for this GW:

    Foster
    Baines, Cuellar, Hangeland, Wilson
    Cazorla, Mata, Bale (C)
    RVP, Ba (vc), Lambert

Subs: Fed | Kaca, Demel, Pienaar

My main points of concern are:

    1. Start 2 of Hangeland, Cuellar, Kaca and Demel?
    2. Captain Bale, Ba, Cazorla or RVP?

What do you think, maybe time to let Ivanovic go. In Chelseas Next 5 their 3 home games are Man U, Liverpool and Man City. But they do haave easier away games. Maybe bring in Vermalaen?

Rather Ivan over Verm even with fixtures. Verm is now due.

Worth hanging on to Federici for Reading's fixtures, or is he out of favor? Seems to not get many clean sheets either.

He hasn't had enough games to properly judge. I wouldn't expect him to play for cert this week after a long lay off. I wouldn't waste a free transfer on who is probably your reserve keeper until you are certain

Instead of bringing in Mata next week for a -4 hit and then Rooney the following week for an -8 hit, should i just bring in Oscar instead of Mata (-4) but that allows me to only take a -4 hit on getting Rooney in the following week?

    What do you think?

See how oscar plays this week, I think he's awesome. Just read today in his interview that he wants to be the new lampard and score 10-20 goals a season.

Yeah i'll watch the UTD game with him in mind. His finishing for Brazil has been sublime lately and this is exactly what I want to hear.

LateRiser, I've decided against taking the hit to bring in Sagna... I'm just about to go out for the night and I just can't bring myself to do it...

Even if he plays I think they'll concede, and I can't risk losing out on more points...

Gunter is in just in case he plays, but I've just resigned myself to accepting Clyne's 1 pointer...

Sorry to let the side down... 🙁

Best of luck to you though, and I'll see you on the other side...

Good decision to be fair. I don't reckon he'll start today. But i hope Wenger plays him today and not for the Carling cup since he wont want Sagna to play 2 games in a short space of time.

      Good luck mate.

I am doing Flect to Crouch with my freebie
Then for a hit do I do:
    A: Williams to Huth
    B: Demel to Huth
C: Stick with those two and the three I am playing today: Hangeland, Baines, Clark (doubt)
Playing Huth would mean benching Sterling and would not give me great defender rotation, but think he could be mustard over the next 6
As always, many thanks for any advice

    Morning all,

Apologies for the long post before I start.

Currently got Pienaar, Demel, Gunter and Tierney (don't ask) all not playing plus Kacaklinic who probably won't play. Already took my free transfer to move Hazard out for Mata which has left me with 1.4m to spare.

I want to swap Tierney for Chris Baird and Kacaklinic for Noble or Maloney.

This would mean a 8 point hit.

I'm second in my mini league and the league leader has taken a 4 point hit.

    So.....

    Any other thought guys?

What do people make of the captaincy poll?

Cazorla is top on FFS, followed by Tevez and Bale.

Over on FPL it's Tevez, followed by Bale.

Do we think this is heavily influenced by Tevez's high ownership? In other words, people are voting based on their personal captaincy choice and since less have Bale, he's getting ignored? Suppose that means Bale is the best choice of the two....
