As our recent Tweet has revealed, Andy Carroll’s availability for the Gameweek 23 remains a doubt, with Alan Pardew granting the striker a break in the sun to help him recuperate for the derby match with Sunderland.

Carroll has been sent to Dubai to rest and he is not set to return to a chillier climes until Wednesday with his fitness is set to be assessed the following day. Carroll’s Fantasy owners remain in the dark on his chances of making the Sunderland clash then but Alan Pardew did at least offer us this on the situation…

“It’s an injury that’s difficult to judge because it’s just a small tear in his thigh, but it’s a big muscle. Striking balls is a big problem. He’s walking and getting around feeling no problem but it’s when he starts kicking it will cause him a problem. We won’t know his chances until next Thursday.”

Carroll has already suffered an Fantasy Premier League price drop to 6.4 following his absence over the past two Gameweeks; his ownership has fallen from 54% to 47% in that time. With the Gameweek 22 wildcard now active, his sales seem set to continue and only confirmation of his availability for the clash with the Black Cats will likely stem that tide.

Personally, I’m holding tight. Like many of his Fantasy owners, I would suffer a heavy loss of funds if I sold Carroll on and, given his consistency and Newcastle’s mini-revival under Pardew, he may even present a decent differential on his return. That stance depends greatly on Thursday’s assessment however; if the prognosis suggests a prolonged absence, Carroll will surely suffer accelerated sales as wildcards are put to use before the Gameweek 27 deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not particularly.. Coleman is basically a midfielder, and Baines scores attacking points extremely regularly too.

Quick question for FIFA heads - when you start your side and it gives you the option of kits and badges does that mean you have to use their players (I mean the computer not us as pro's)? So if you pick Man Utd you have to be mancs or is it generic

No idea why I am still awake but tinkering with possible transfers. Is it worth getting rid of Drogba? And is Nasri and RVP enough cover for Arsenals run of games or should I get Febs instead of Nasri?

I'm holding on to Drogba for this week because Blackburn at home is a decent fixture and he did have a goal and an assist against Aston Villa in Chelsea's last home game.

I think that Nasri+RVP should score well enough, of course wenger could be evil play chamakh and arshavin just to drive people insane.

Im probly gonna go into their double with Nasri and Fabs and depending on form for either of them, decide which one to ditch, if at all.. Not 100% convinced with RVP yet, he looks sharper but is still lacking that bit of class with his finishing.. I just hope he stays fit because he adds such a good dimension

Foster/Gordon: There are better keeper rotations. Doubled up with Dann?
          Foley: Wolves have horrendous fixtures
A.Hole: Has proved overpriced of late with Chelsea's form, gamble.
          Vermaelen: Just no.
Vidic: Downgrade to Rafael and upgrade Odemwingie Imo. I know WBA have a double but do you really need both?

Fabregas, VDV, Nani, Adam, Brunt, Van Persie, Carroll, Dann are all good choices.

Lads, serious Question. Have a mouse in my house. ate the cheese off the trap twice without it snapping. staying in my mothers tonight becauuse the girlfriend wouldnt stay there. set two traps one with chocolte, the other with cheese.actually super glued the cheese on so he might tug at it. if he gets the bait out of both without either of them snapping, im going to catch him alive and set him free in a field for his sheer brilliance in avoiding capture.anyone any suggestions? thanks folks. p.s. i know he is sitting in a corner looking at me setting the traps having a good old laugh to himself. grrr

depends, if you want him alive or not. If you just want him caught, they make large "no-kill" traps, but I don't know how well they work. If you want him gone no matter what, there is a 100% effective trap using a bucket, a pop can and antifreeze that us hicks use.

actually, if you don't use the antifreeze, the mouse would live.

I think Carroll's time has passed. Sell, sell, sell. Bring in Elmander! He's got Chelsea at home after Stoke. A little bird told me he's gonna score big! Anyone interested in a hat-trick hero? Just a little bit, right? GET HIM IN!

PS. If your defence doesn't have Djourou in it, then it's not a defence. He's there for the long run, and he's only 4.2! Could it get any creamier?

Final tip of the day: Fabregas to get double figures for the next 6 games! ONE OF THEM IS A DOUBLE GAMEWEEK! Interested much?

    Yeah.

It looks like Djourou's recent performances have earned his starting role as long as Verm stays injured. I would say he's no longer a rotation risk for league games.

I'm looking at bringing him myself for some additional Arsenal coverage.

    Hey guys,

Thinking about the WC this week. Was going to leave till GW24 but I've been playing around trying to see if I can get all the same players I'd get next week, plus take some advantage from this week...

Any thoughts on the below -

    Current -
    Forster (Jussi)
    Konchesky, Bardsley, Kolorov (Coleman, Rafael)
    VDV, Nani, Nasri, Henderson, Adam
    Tevez, Drogba (Campbell)

    WC This Week (possibly) -
    Begovic (Fabianski)
    Bardsley, Coleman, Rafael, ???, ???
    VDV, Nani, Nasri, ???, Adam
    Tevez, ???, (Campbell)

    2 x defenders
    Brunt or Fabregas
    Toress (or keep Drogs)

    Advantages -
Arsenal player IN for West Ham (Cesc, RVP or even Djourou)
Brunt IN for home game vs Blackpool
Torres IN (maybe derby match to fire them up?)

    Disadvantages -
    Drogba out for home game

I know, damn FA Cup getting in the way of things! I've enjoyed the quick turnaround of games over the Xmas period.

Plans at the moment (Subject to change):

No transfer this week in order to save 2 Free's for GW24.

                WC in GW26.

I take Fabregas, but you have nasri already, so not sure if doubling up is the best, but both are still solid and could easily work out well.

I never bought into the "drogba will get better thing" when he first got malaria but I instead decided to invest in torres who was equally unhelpful as a big gun. So in that regard, I am unable to pick between them.

As for defenders, Cahill might have success at some point. I have been holding on to him in the hopes he decides to score (though his fixtures are now not as good. There's always Fulham or Birmingham, though I would want Foster more so due to his ability to rack up the saves points even if he concedes.

Yeah I'm thinking the same re Drogs, but then still relying on Torres to fire... It does help me get Fabregas though. I can't do it if I leave Drogba in.

I'm only looking ahead to GW27, and I think it's a good way to go (Nasri/Fab) re their fixtures.

Was thinking Dann re Birmingham. That leaves me 5.3m for 1 defender. But I'm not totally taken by the defence...

Working Brunt into midfield would solve the issue re cash and strengthen the defence, but there's isn't one midfielder from that 5 I would drop!

I would say nasri and gerrard is roughly equal to fabs :p

If liverpool have any attacking power right now, it seems to be rooted in gerrard, so he is a decent choice for liverpool coverage (at least as good as you can get) and nasri could have returns close to fabregas so I would think it is "kinda ok".

You could always get both, but then you end up with dj and odem up front like I have.

He's not actually that consistent. Normally gets a few weeks of low scores followed by a big score.

Luckily he's had a fair few big scores to even things out.

A few more hundreds of thousands need to get rid of Carroll, so his price can come down, and I can get him back in. In one of my usual moments of genius, I got rid of him around gameweek 9, and he went on to score at least 5 points per week after that. It makes me feel warm and a little sexy when I think of this...

    Hi all,

Just after a few ideas for my side.

    Foster Krul
    Rafael Konchesky Coleman Evatt Kolarov
    Nani Malouda VDV Adam Barton
    Drogba Tevez Welbeck

    3.4 in bank, 1 free.

Obviously Krul & Welbeck are issues.
Wouldn't mind a 4 point hit if I could make 2 good transfers.
Some Arsenal cover seems the most important thing to do.

    Any ideas welcome. 🙂

I won't be the last person to tell you this, but the thing that strikes me the most about your team is that you don't have Elmander The Moose. That's the first thing I'd do - get rid of dead weight like Welbeck and bring in the moose. Then add a little Djourou instead of Evatt (same price). Finally, sprinkle a little love on a Malouda-shaped hole in your team, and whaddya got? Fabregas! Ttttttttttttttt.

Hi TM - aside from the areas you've highlighted, I would still contemplate moving one or both of Malouda and Drogba out, particularly after the Blackburn game.

Malouda > Fabs/Nasri & Drogba > Torres (for the dgw). Kolarov is worth perservering with until the Wolves game at least but if he fails to make the line-up he also has to go.

The only players you could consider getting rid of this week are:

      Krul, Welbeck & Barton imo.

Foster has a home fixture so Krul isn't urgent, however the following week you have no obvious GK choice. Fabianski is a good option for the coming weeks.

Even Welbeck has a home fixture against NEW so isn't so bad. However, his fixtures aren't great after this week. DJ Campbell?! 😀

I'd also consider Malouda -> Gerrard/Fabregas next week, after Chelsea's fixture v BLA.

Barton has an away fixture, followed by TOT, an away fixture and ARS. Not ideal. This is where I'd be making the transfer, if any.

      Barton -> Brunt/N'Zogbia maybe?

    Midfield dilemma!

I would like to have Brunt for the next 5 game weeks.

BUT - VDV, Nani, Adam, Nasri, Fabregas

    WTF do you do lol!!!

    * I'm pretty sold on double Gunners for their run
    * Adam with 2 DGW plus home to West Ham have to have
    * Nani I have too much invested in (8.1m buy) and good run
    * VDV hard to go past and little invested

It's either don't go with Cesc OR take the punt on VDV not outscoring Brunt in the next 6 matches. VDV has 2 home, 4 away whilst Brunt has 4 home and 2 away...

    Anyone else tinkering with that???

Apparently he never got a red flag so no protection. I never looked as I had him. 6.4 is a steal. 😉
11 new players probably. Hussey is getting to that age. best by a long way though. Without him 5-0.

Before I head off to work does anybody know of an FA Cup Fantasy Competition that's running? There was one last season which quite a few people got involved in and it goes someway to filling the gap left by no Premiership games....

Perhaps I should give my solitary braincell a rest this weekend 🙂

Alright guys Ned some help. I played myWC and those are the potential teams:
    TEAM A
    Foster/Gordon
    Evatt/Coleman/Rafael/Dawson/Djorou
    Nasri/Adam/Fabregas/VDV/Nani
    Berbatov/Tevez/Carroll
    1.7 in bank

    TEAM B
    Foster/Gordon
    Elmo/Coleman/Rafael/Huth/Djorou
    Nasri/Adam/Fabregas/VDV/Nani
    Berbatov/Tevez/DJ
    2.5 in bank

    TEAM C
    Foster/Al Habsi
    Bardsley/Coleman/Rafael/Huth/Djorou
    Brunt/Adam/Fabregas/VDV/Nani
    Berbatov/Tevez/RVP
    0.7 in bank

Which one looks the best? How would you improve the current teams. Help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

Team C makes me want to vomit in a sexy way. Go for that one. Remember, money in the bank is like your cock in your hand - better put it into something that feels tight, but isn't a banker.

Haha... I like Team C myself but having RVP is a gamble and taking Nasri out is a gamble too. Also which relatively cheap keeper rotates well with foster?

This rotation nonsense with the keepers are of no use. Jussi and Foster rotated perfectly at the start of the season, problem is Jussi is k*k and Foster scored more than Jussi on every single occassions that I played Jussi.

If you pick Foster, you surely need to play him every week.

That's my point - at that price Foster is better than the lot of them.

Kingson/Stockdale/Al habsi are al dead cheap and have doubles in gw 24 when Birm play ManU(a)but they are not first choice for their clubs.

Might be worth a punt for gw 24 and then just let them rot on bench as Foster have 2 double gw's coming up.

Anyway, I've just fallen behind in my mini leagues this week due to some bad luck and one very stupid mistake (accidently left Nani on the bench this week) so I'll probably use the WC now, with the coming DGW's in consideration...

Any advice on following WC team would be well received...

    Hart Myhill
    Huth Coleman Hangeland Rafael Bardsley
    Nani Brunt VDV Adam Fabregas
    RVP Tevez Carroll

Bascially, I've downgraded Baines & Vidic and upgraded Nasri with Fabregas... and took a punt of RVP... and I can no longer deny Hart and a Sunderland defender...

Cos Hart will ALWAYS play... I am aware that Jaask rotates well with him.. but don't see the point in it... Hart is fixture proof IMO... and Myhill is the cheapest you can get at 3.9...

Not to sure I want Nasri if I have rvp/Fab.

Someone mentioned Ars having a Carling cup game that might leade to a FPL game being postponed? Is that true? Could cause havoc if you have 3 Arsenal players.

Yep the ARS v TOT fixture for GW 28 is under threat if Arsenal get through. Would throw a spanner in the works - I'm playing WC for GW 26 so that I have 2 frees for GW 28.

Just get both. I'm avoiding RVP as he'll be rotated with Chamakh. And Chamakh will more than likely play the easier games, where you'd obviously want RVP to play.

He'll play the FA Cup game you'd imagine. But wonderboy Bendtner (and is Vela still there?) could well take the striker spot in the Carling Cup games.

I just think Wenger will look to rest RVP's glass legs against easy opposition at times. Which is where you really want him to play.

Yeah. Took out all three Liverpool players, and got some shiny new Arsenal ones instead. Amoungst some other changes.

Played my WC really as I couldn't get any Arsenal cover without taking an 8 or so point hit and was fed up of L'pool players ruining my team.

Nzog. Adam is enough BP cover. The fact that Carroll is inj is a blessing for me. Makes benching him easier while you can load your midfield + 2 strikers for the gw 24 doubles.
