As our recent Tweet has revealed, Andy Carroll’s availability for the Gameweek 23 remains a doubt, with Alan Pardew granting the striker a break in the sun to help him recuperate for the derby match with Sunderland.

Carroll has been sent to Dubai to rest and he is not set to return to a chillier climes until Wednesday with his fitness is set to be assessed the following day. Carroll’s Fantasy owners remain in the dark on his chances of making the Sunderland clash then but Alan Pardew did at least offer us this on the situation…

“It’s an injury that’s difficult to judge because it’s just a small tear in his thigh, but it’s a big muscle. Striking balls is a big problem. He’s walking and getting around feeling no problem but it’s when he starts kicking it will cause him a problem. We won’t know his chances until next Thursday.”

Carroll has already suffered an Fantasy Premier League price drop to 6.4 following his absence over the past two Gameweeks; his ownership has fallen from 54% to 47% in that time. With the Gameweek 22 wildcard now active, his sales seem set to continue and only confirmation of his availability for the clash with the Black Cats will likely stem that tide.

Personally, I’m holding tight. Like many of his Fantasy owners, I would suffer a heavy loss of funds if I sold Carroll on and, given his consistency and Newcastle’s mini-revival under Pardew, he may even present a decent differential on his return. That stance depends greatly on Thursday’s assessment however; if the prognosis suggests a prolonged absence, Carroll will surely suffer accelerated sales as wildcards are put to use before the Gameweek 27 deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    stockdale/hart

    djourou/crainey/jara/kolarov/rafael

    nasri/vdv/nani/barton/adam

    van persie/tevez/rooney

can i get away with not having fabs? is rooney too much of a risk?

    could do with the advice!

    RMWCT

VDS/Carson (Carson is there to fill in for GW23 and 27)

    Coleman/Dann/Djourou/Ivanovic/Clark

    VdV/Nani/Fabs/Adam/Brunt

RVP/Tevez/Harewood (Harewood frees up funds as he's only 3.9 and he will be benched each week)

    0 in the bank.

RVP and Harewood doesn't sound too good - RVP is a rotation risk, so you'll have to play 1 up front if he's rested (cos of Harewood). Maybe Ivan to someone like Kolo Toure to free up cash to upgrade Harewood?

Your team value is pretty low (101.8) - you might need to downgrade Fabs to Nasri to strengthen elsewhere.

What do we reckon Walker's chances are to break into the Villa startup on a regular basis? Who is he competing with at the right back? Young? If so, with Young out I'd say Walker looks like quite a certain starter for a while.

N'Zog or Nasri for the next 2 GW's? I know N'Zog has a double gameweek but Nasri has two home games. Basically if it's N'Zog, i can keep Drogba for one more week against Blackburn. If it's Nasri ill do Drogba - Berba this week, all for Cesc 'God' Fabregas.

    ok after advice:

i was planning to save a transfer this week and then do

kyrgiakos/kolarov to hangelaand/skrtel (slightly short for rafael)

given that kyrgiakos is unlikely to play and simpson/knight are likely to concede is it worth doing kyrgiakos to hangelaand this gameweek and play him at wigan

hangelaand will also likely rise 0.2 before i get rid at wildcard time

or would u sit tight this week and save transfers?

I was going to do the same thing. Baines to Hangeland to free up funds for Elmander to Berbs next gw. Will probably do hangeland transfer this gw as rest of my defenders dont have great fixtures and hangeland has a good one.. otherwise i would have saved the transfer!

Wait until the result of Zabaleta's red card appeal before you make the decision, Kolarov might not be dead yet (I think the appeal hearing is today).

If you're planning to do Kyrg to Hange anyway, might as well do it this week.

Dont do anything and wait until the United v Liverpool game is played. If Kyrg plays that one then I doubt that he will play against Blackpool because he will be rotated again for Agger.

I would try and make some room in order to get Nzogbia for Cleverley(isnt he out for a while?)

And you dont have to go with Hangeland, you can still look for cheaper options like Pantsil

i did think about nzogbia for cleverley and can do it but would then have to drop one of the following

        dempsey - dbl
        nani - dbl
        adam - dbl
        vdv
        tevez
        rooney - dbl
        bent - blackpool away

so im tempted to just bench cleverley and focus on the defence?

        what do u think?

Bent, you can get him out for a cheap dgw striker because you can still use your WC and easily change your team after that.

I think that its best to save your transfer for next week. Then think about it again. Many things can happen during that time.

Advice for this team please lads.

    Carson (Robinson)
    Skrtel, Kolarov, Bardsley (Rafael, Jara)
    Nani, VDV, Nasri, Adam (Cleverley)
    Tevez, Torres, Varney

    5.4M in the bank

Im thinking Torres, Cleverley -> Van Persie, Fabs for a 4point hit?

Any better way to get Fabs without losing Nasri or Torres?
Could do Robinson, Kolarov, Cleverley -> Begovic, Perch?!, Fabs?

    Gonna WC Gameweek 27 hopefully.

Welbeck being out for a month helps Gyan's case. I need a mid-priced striker, and he seems to fit the bill short-term.

I shouldn't really have to be looking at Sunderland's other strikers, he's miles better than Bent and Welbeck. Bruce just doesn't seem to get that.

    Hart Stockdale
    Rafael Bardsely Huth Coleman Djourou

    Carroll Tevez Rooney

People might question barton but his point returns and form have been good from the minutes he has played. This also leaves me with .7 in the bank in case i need to get in n'zogbia/brunt etc for adam at any stage.
