The double-gameweeks start right here, right now as round two in the battle of the ‘Pools kicks off in the Premier league and the Dugout Disucssion opens it’s doors especially. Ian Holloway is playing host to his hero Kenny Dalglish and there’s all sorts of interesting tittle-tattle to take from this game…

Charlie Adam is considered one of the hot properties of this winter transfer window and now he has another chance to show just what he’s worth. Perversely, Liverpool are reported to have entered to race for the Scot so will want to see their target play a blinder but somehow come a cropper this evening.

As for the teams, the baby boom continues on Merseyside as new father Glen Johnson is drafted back into the Liverpool defence, seemingly at left-back with Fabio Aurelio not capable of two games in a week, Martin Kelly more than deserving of his place in the XI and Paul Konchesky very much on the bench and out of the fray. The midfield gets even stranger as two of Liverpool’s worst summer signings -Milan Jovanovic and Christian Poulsen- are drafted in. Can Kenny get out of them what Roy Hodgson couldn’t? I’m guessing we’ve got a 4-3-2-1 on our hands, but it’s hard to tell.

Blackpool meanwhile set out a fairly predictable side after the rest the FA Cup afforded the squad, Elliot Grandin has sufficiently recovered from injury to jump right back into the starting side. Line-ups in full are…

Blackpool XI: Kingson; Eardley, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey; Adam, Vaughan, Grandin; Taylor-Fletcher, Campbell, Varney

Liverpool XI: Reina; Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson; Poulsen, Lucas; Kuyt, Meireles, Jovanovic; Torres

We will of course be keeping a close eye on affairs in the Carling Cup too. Arsenal are looking to get a head of steam on Ipswich in their first leg. The Dugout Discussion is of course on hand for anyone needing their Wednesday night fix.

What's people's thoughts on the Fulham fixtures (wig, STK+liv, NEW, avl)? Get Dempsey, Hangeland, both or neither?

Do Fulham ever, really score big though? Dempsey is one of those I wouldn't transfer out of my team but I don't know if he's exciting enough a prospect to get in!

Not sure really, I honestly only see one clean sheet there, against Stoke and that isn't a certainty, Stoke are a decent side this year.

I'm thinking that Hangeland could own Kenwyne Jones, and possibly Carroll at Craven Cottage, given his height and experience. At the very least, he's in line for bonus points if Fulham's results pick up.

Mmmm, I've still not convinced myself so will think it over. Cheers.

F*ck wildcard, going to play it next week for sure now.. So this week I obviously have one free transfer, think I'm just going to get in Nasri for Cahill to cover Arsenal against West Ham.

    Foster
    G Johnson, Lolarov, Jara
    VdV, Nani, Nasri, Adam
    Torres, Tevez, Campbell

    Jussi, Coleman, Rafael, Dunn.

Been in NZ the last 3 game weeks and barely seen any football or touched my team - but somehow got 3 green arrows. But need some help now - with two free transfers

    Cech Al Habsi
    Kolarov Konchesky Rafeal Coleman Hughes
Nasri N Zog Nani Lee VDV
    Tevez Drogba Carrol

Was thinking of Lee and Drogba to Torres and Adam?

    Any other suggestions?

Wouldn't mind some advice if anyone has the time. Team at the moment for GW23 is below:

    Foster
    Rafael Kolarov Bardsley
    Nasri Nani Adam VDV Brunt
    Torres Tevez

    SUBS: Jussi, Samba, Konchesky, Carroll

I got 2 freebies this week but have no real idea where to start. Had a tentative look at the transfer page and all i could come up with was dumping Konchesky for one of these lot Johnson/Aurelio/Hangeland/Djourou/Shawcross (and then playing them instead of Rafael). Which one from that lot do you fancy and anything else i should be looking to address?

    Ta lads.

Depends on how long you are waiting to WC

If your doing it next week (as i plan to )

Then a short term punt on Drogba looks good for Torres, and maybe upgrade kolarov to toure just to be certain of a starter

Its probably up for debate with many doing it at varying times

Il prob do it next week which means I can cover Chelsea this week and then Get Torres back. Plus I want Fabregas back in and maybe a punt on RVP which means next week looks a good time as ever.

I wouldnt use it this week in your position.

Ya i have 2 different plans . One involves a wildcard this week and making Lampard (c)

Other one i rather is one free transfer Drogba for Torres.

I think the cracks may be shown this weekend under Kean and the reported tensions from senior players (Samba) may be seen on pitch.

Also with United - Spurs fixture and Arsenal away at West Ham, besides Tevez Chelsea looks like a good avenue for points this weekend.

There have been no new developments regarding Samba's future (as far as i'm aware) this week and he was immense against Liverpool so i'm really not worried. He seems fully committed to the team. If anything i reckon the squad would have become more unified over the last week or so.

              I'm a bit pessimistic actually.

I think we'll get hit hard. I'm still not convinced that we can defend after the last three games. Last game we weren't so bad with Samba back, but Liverpool were the worst team to visit Ewood all season.

              I think we'll lose 3-0.

I'm captaining Drogba. If we actually get a result, at least I'll be happy to be a Rovers fan, if not, and I'm right, well, I do have FPL points to look forward to...

I reckon we are good for at least 1 goal. The other end is the problem like you say.

No Drogba over here but i'm not so worried about that, he's been shite in all the Chelsea games i've been to this season and i'm going on Saturday so he should be crap again by my logic!

I just feel like Drogba is one of those players who rises to challenges.

He was shown up this weekend by Sturridge, and he'll want to show what he's capable of especially after a week and a half's rest.

I revise my prediction since I also think we'll score. Cashley Cole has been useless for me for weeks. 3-1.

Cole was terrible against the noblots. That Moreno guy had him in knots at times in the second half. I'm hoping Olsson and Hoilett can get right after their full backs down the channels.

Don't do it. I think Djourou is the better pick at the price.

Liverpool are really missing Mascherano and while Carra's out, I wouldn't go near their defence, save for Reina.

Arsenal are reasonably solid when Song and Denilson are in there.

If your looking to invest in the Arsenal defence, then Fabianski is your man.

Djourou won't play every game. He's only returned from a long term knee injury. I know Arsenal only have two fit central defenders. But with the hectic schedule they are about to embark on, it wouldn't surprise me if Song played in defence.

          I'm not keeping him.

Going to sell him next week no matter what. I'm just trying to lever some funds and if Andy Carroll doesn't play, I reckon Sunderland have a very good chance of a cleanie especially since they'll want some revenge.

I'm playing a diff version of EPL Fantasy that only has 12 players, but scoring is still the same as this version.

What changes should I make to my team:

    Hart
    Vidic, Bardsley, Baines, Evatt
    Adam, Nani, Nasri, VDV
    Drogba, Elmander, (Caroll)

I think the press association got it wrong, so reports from the likes of BBC and the telegraph have him down as booked too.
Not sure how they're going to reverse it unless they do it soon since the new cup ties will be out tomorrow.. Adam's yellow could sway alot of them.

The yellow card was for Taylor-Fletcher, I saw the ref give him the card. Give the FPL sometime and if it's not corrected by tomorrow or so, should probably shoot them an email.

2 points is enough to move me up 20 places!

You sure it was Adam? Because if I remember clearly (which I don't really!) he was hobbling off by then and the ref gave the card to Taylor-Fletcher.

Says so on my livescore feed, and I'm pretty sure I saw it live as well.

            not sure at all now!

but how i saw it at the time was adam tackling, getting carded, and hobbling off with cramps sustained on the impact. maybe TF got the card by mistake? after all, they sport similar haircuts 🙂

i also think well stick 3-4 past them at the emirates, ipswich that is.

as for arshavin..dont know just having a bit of dip i think people have got on his back for some reason, him and chamakh played a lot of football at the start of the season straight through

West Ham could be on the end of a mauling. Fabregas itching for a result & RVP leading the line, bringing others into play. Making them look better than they actually are.

Arshavin seems to cherry pick the games he performs in. We know what he's capable of, but he just doesn't deliver it as often as he should be.

I'd happily play Walcott, Rosicky & Nasri ahead of him.
