This weekend could see a swarm of new January Transfer Window recruits make their debuts. The most tantalising prospect is arguably Manchester City’s new towering target man, Edin Dzeko, who looks set to feature heavily against Wolves. Other new signings include Roque Santa Cruz’s return to Blackburn, Wayne Bridge looking to bolster West Ham’s backline, Tottenham’s forgotten man David Bentley striving to revive his career at Birmingham, while Steve Sidwell is in a comparable position as he prepares for his Fulham debut.

Elsehwere, Andy Carroll has been ruled out of Sunday’s derby with Sunderland leaving Leon Best and Shola Ameobi to fight it out for a place in the Newcastle attack. Manchester United look set to welcome back Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Edwin Van Der Sar as they take on a Beckham-less Tottenham side, who have announced Gareth Bale as match fit. Wojciech Szczesny will start at West Ham for Arsenal after Lukasz Fabianski was ruled out of Saturday’s game. David Silva is still touch and go for Manchester City and will find out later today if he will make their squad.

All the latest, breaking reports are available on our fresh and up-to-date Team News page. Tweets are also constantly flying in, so keep an eye on those too.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

OK, so with news that he is likely to 'feature hevily' in the wolves game, is anyone tempted by Dzeko, especially as Bolloti is out?

Yeah but this is wenger logic goes out the window with that nutter. Just look at the way he 'protects' RVP is ridiculous. He says he needs match practice as a reason to NOT play him. Completely stark raving mad im telling you!

I do however think fabs will play

                  that's what he thinks: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/-we-are-confident-we-can-do-it-at-emirates-

The 23-year-old is still searching for full fitness after being sidelined with troublesome hamstring injury and came closest to scoring for Arsenal when he bundled the ball over the bar from close range.

"Of course you can always do better but I am happy physically with how I am feeling, so that is the most important thing right now,” Fabregas said.

"Once you are in the Semi-Final, you have to go for it with your best players. Tonight we played with our best players. We did not win, but it is half-time.

"I felt very good, I felt sharp and am getting back to my best. I am happy with my performance today.”

can'd decide whether to swap out tevez for Berbatov after this gameweek.

pros for swapping him out: then I will enjoy a DGW with Berba. and I can bring tevez back in with WC after that.

Cons: Tevez has no DGW but good fixtures (except for ManUtd in GW 27). If I sell tevez now I only get 10.8 for him but must pay 11.3 if I choose to bring him in again.

would you guys swap in berba for the DGW? Should the pros or cons weight most?

Has anyone else notice that Fulham's Team News appears to be a month behind....

If you can buy him back maybe. But for me Berbatov is a little hit and miss. Yes he's top scorer but that thanks to a couple of big hauls rather than consistent goals. DGW puts him in favour but only if he plays both games

thanks mate.. I agree on your thoughts on berbatov. it is just that I am desperate to return to the top in my mini league. and then I feel I have to gamble on DGW players. but it is too irrational doing tevez --> berba I guess. thanks.

Right guys, been a bit busy this week so not done as much trolling of the site as I'd like to 🙂

Anyway here is my team currently for this week. I have 1 free transfer and only 0.6m in the bank

    Foster (Robinson)

    Kolarov Konchesky Rafael (Crainey Foley)

Nani Adam Nasri (C) Dempsey (VDV)

    Torres Tevez Berbatov

I'm thinking Tevez would be a better choice of captain or possibly even Torres. Although Torres without Gerrard, not so sure.

With so many possible non starters (not taht many but enough to make me think), I'm thinking wildcard but I'd like to hold on until next week.

    What transfer(s) would you make?

Thinking maybe Konchesky to Coleman or Hangeland.

I wouldnt bench van der vaart if it was just him alone vs spain such has been his form this season. And id get hangeland over coleman, imminent double gameweek and more likely to keep a cleansheet this gameweek in my opinion

I'm doing Konchesky to Skrtel. Yes yes he's Liverpool and all that but LOOK at their fixtures for the next three

      Skrtel EVE, wol&FUL, STK
      Coleman liv, WHM, ars
      Hangeland wig, STK&liv, NEW
      Alcaraz FUL, arse&AVL, wba

I would be getting Kelly if I was more confident he'd be starting all of them.

        I can't afford Skrtel but 0.1m 🙁 That's why I'm thinking Coleman or Hange.

If I don't bench VDV then I guess Dempsey is the only other option, even though that backfired last week!

This way i can cover chelsea, hope drogba gets me something if Chelsea do run riot , and i can give Frank a look aswell and if needs be bring him in next week which i doubt now.

Problem is I'm so locked in, it's unbelievable, bought him for 5.1m. I either trade to someone like Rodellega or Dudley(!) Campbell, or leave him on my bench and hope my squad can cope...

I've seen NOTHING suggesting additional weeks, just that he is out of this game.

I heard Pardew today saying the injury was worst than he thought, but no idea if that is new info or not

Yeah there has been zero clarification on duration though, I'm sitting tight until further reliable info comes out.

I sold Carroll at 6.4M for 5.9M (bought at 5.4M) and bought in Campbell at 4.5M.

Carroll's currently down to 6.3 and is 36% of the way to his next fall, which will double to 72% after the deadline due to him already falling this week. Meanwhile Campbell is 22% of the way to his next rise, and first 0.1M sell on profit, again doubling to 44% after deadline.

With WC's coming up, casuals seeing a big red flag and the like Carroll will probably end up at or under 6M especially is he misses both games in GW24. Casuals also go on form, even if he starts he'd have to get goals / assists to stop the masses for shipping him out in favour of other in form players.

    Thinking of starting...

    Hart

    Skrtel, Terry, Kolarov

Nasri (c), Nani, VDV, Essien, Adam

    Torres, Campbell

    (Berbatov, Rafael, Evatt)

    1 free transfer left...

Really poor line up in many respects I feel, bit of a risk benching Berbatov but he really has just been AWOL the past 3 games and benching him last week proved fairly inspired, if it wasn't for his good DGW in 24 I'd have shipped him.

I'd quite like to get Coleman in but not sure who to swap out for him... Evatt I'm thinking? He may have DGWs coming up and did me proud with his assist against Liverpool but his chance for reliable clean sheet returns is minimal...

Any other transfers I should really do instead? 1.0 in the bank.

Currently have Carroll in my WC team and want to get rid of him after the news today. Who's the best replacement?

So, Foster against a terrible and Young-less Villa, or Gordon against a Carroll-less Newcastle? Favouring Ben the man at the moment.

I have 1 free transfer and I really want to get shut of Konchesky for Hangeland. Should I just go for it tonight on the transfer? doing so would leave me short on bringing in any Arsenal cover in midfield (Fabregas), it would have to be Nasri. Although if I go for somebody like Baird or Hughes i'd be fine to bring in Fabregas next week. Any help would be amazing 🙂

For those itching to have Aus and/or South Korean players - the two teams just drew 1-1 and the other teams (India and Bahrain) play in 30 minutes time. Likely that both will procede to knockout stages with (likely) a draw being needed in their last game of Group Stage.
