A Hugo Rodallega header earns Martin Jol’s side the points and condemns Newcastle to their fifth defeat in six games. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday night’s events…

On the Up

Damien Duff
A brace of assists took the reliable winger to five for the season and made Duff Fulham’s leading Fantasy Premier League points scorer. Duff has been rotated in and out of Martin Jol’s lineup of late but demonstrated his worth and even hinted that, if the Cottagers can get back to goalscoring ways long term, he could present an option, particularly from Gameweeks 19-22 when Fulham face three favourable home fixtures in four.

Steve Sidwell
Another unsung hero in the Fulham ranks, Sidwell was a tireless performer and capped his display with a fourth goal of the season: a strong return for a 5.1 FPL midfielder. Having started the last six, his place seems secure and, like Duff, he could well present a differential for Fulham’s kind schedule from Boxing Day onwards.

Hatem Ben Arfa
The mercurial Frenchman made his return to the Newcastle lineup and reminded of his talents with an equalising goal: his first strike in the league since Gameweek 3. Investment in Ben Arfa looks unlikely given Newcastle’s evil schedule but he’ll be a player expected to enjoy an upturn in 2013 and could yet come into the equation before the season ends.

Going Down

Dimitar Berbatov
The Bulgarian oozed class and was central to Fulham’s attacking ploys throughout; he also had opportunities to notch but the fact remains that Berbatov has now blanked in his last five league outings. With no goal, assist or bonus coming his way since his superb Gameweek 11 performance at the Emirates, it seems likely we’ll see continued sales. His price has dropped from 7.6 to 7.4 in the past two Gameweeks and the fidgeting and steady decline in ownership is likely to continue. Those that hold will be looking beyond the next two away matches and hoping for a change in fortune and, more significantly, a speedy return for Bryan Ruiz as Berbatov’s foil.

The Newcastle Defence
Despite the return of Fabricio Coloccini, Alan Pardew’s back four continued to leak goals: their only clean sheet in the last eleven matches has come against a Wigan side with 10-men for the majority of the match. Away from home, the Magpies have conceded twice in their last three trips. With Man City, United and Arsenal in their next four fixtures, it seems most unlikely that we’ll see an immediate turnaround in fortune.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How many points would your first sub have to get to make you want a player outfield to not play, what is the cut off?

I want Fletcher not to play tonight as I will happily take Sterlings 5 points, thoughts?

How did Rodallega get a bonus point and Berba none? Berba was head and shoulders above him last night. Most touches of any Ful player, most passes, most key passes, most shots, most shots on target. Rodallega looked terrible apart from the goal. He already gets FPL points for the goal anyway, crap system.

does it make sense to do fletcher -> long for the next two weeks and then long->berba at gw19?

    is long surely nailed on?

do you have any other suggestions for the 3rd striker slot? (i have 2,5M at the bank but i should spare some cash for bale and mata so i have nearly 1,1M to spend for 3rd striker)

    rest of the team:
    bego jaas
    enrique cameron cuellar shorey clyne
    walcott dempsey fellaini michu sterling
    rvp suarez ????
    2,5M, 1 FT

actually i believe long will get more points than berba for the next two gws but i am not sure if it costs that extra transfer. you may have a point but berba is not producing since ruiz out. i thought it may be good to wait for berba 2 weeks more and get him with easy home fixtures at gw19.

you may be right still Broms have played not that well these few GW so maybe Long could be replaced by Lukaku, if he plays and Morrison behind him he will surely score or assist, so its a good idea going on with him..

I am falling further and further behind in my minileagues, after kneejerking through the whole season. Michu, Rvp and Tevez has gone in and out of my team two or three times each already this season, and somehow I have ended up with hoping that Sessegnon and a Sunderland CS to save the bits of another terrible GW.

So I need your help more than ever before.

    My team:
    Begovic Mignolet
    Rafael Baines Cuellar Cameron Demel
    Bale Sessegnon Sterling Leigertwood Silva
    RvP Berbatov Tevez

I will use my second WC as soon as I can, so the transfers will be primarily for the next 5 GW.
I am tempting to get rid of Baines for a cheapie, and maybe Rvp->Rooney to free up cash and upgrading the hopeless Leigertwood and Sessegnon. Cuellar has terrible fixtures coming up, and is also a transfer out option. And Berbatov up front is killing me the same way as he has been doing the other seasons, 2p when I play him, a brace or a hattrick when I place him on the bench.

    What should I do first?

Follow what people transfer in first so you don't get even more behind. I suggest you to get rid of Sess and Leigertwood for Fellaini and Puncheon. Bale you can keep/sell depends if you can play your WC.

Keep Berbatov, good fixtures and will score. You have bigger issues. The other posters suggestion of getting rid of Sess and Leigertwood makes sense. Next I would be looking to get down to just one City player and then Cuellar can go. Personally Id also be looking to lose Baines and re-invest elsewhere.

Is Gorkss going to play tonight? I have Bassong on the bench...
Also how serious is Ridgewell's injury since he is flagged.

If playing fixtures looking at the next batch of games - surely fixtures suggest we need to stock up on players from 5 of the big 6:

Gonners: rea / wig / WHM / NEW / sot - Walcott if fit if not Carzola worth the £s
Liverpool: VIL / FUL / stk / qpr / SUN - many will have Suarez & Stirling worth bringing in a defender
Man U : SUN / swa / New / WBA / wig - scoring goals for fun worth considering Roo & RVP
    Man C : new / REA / sun / nor / Stk - Surely Ageuro / Tevez due a sack of goals
Spurs : SWA / STK / vil / sun / REA / qpr - Bale if fit, but Defoe or Lennon worth cheaper consideration

Too many choices from the higher price brackets so cant get them all in.....THoughts?

For me of those Suarez RVP & Bale are all must. Wallcott & Cazorla will be rotated over christmas. Man City are too unpredictable with lineups & defoes returns will be restricted with the return of Ade

Cazorla, Suarez, Enrique/GJ, Rooney, RVP, avoid City attack coverage due to rotation (if you have too, Silva), Bale, Defoe.

I'm close to making my front seven

      Cazorla Bale Michu Fellaini
      Suarez RVP Rooney
