A somewhat vague Michael Laudrup reveals there’s “a possibility” Michu could return against Villa tomorrow. Newcastle are without Danny Simpson for the next “three to four weeks” according to Alan Pardew, after the right-back broke a toe in Saturday’s loss at Arsenal.

Samir Nasri is banned for three games after City decided not to appeal his sending off at Norwich. Martin Jol hopes to have Damien Duff and Mark Schwarzer back for Fulham’s trip to West Brom. Chelsea confirm Petr Cech picked up a groin injury in yesterday’s win at Everton, Adam Lallana is ruled out again for Southampton, though Nathaniel Clyne will undergo a late fitness test. Everton lose Darron Gibson for a month with a groin injury, while Stoke’s Andy Wilkinson is expected to recover from the concussion that forced him off at the weekend in time for the trip to City. Jose Enrique misses out for Liverpool, while Sunderland, in opposition at Anfield, will be missing John O’Shea – both are stricken by hamstring injuries.

All this and more is collected and collated in our team news section, along with our current predicted lineups ahead of the New Year fixtures. You can keep in touch with the very latest via our twitter feed as always.

    Is Demel fit and nailed on? Toss up between him and o'brien.

      I think Tomkins has played right back the last two matches. But he should be moved in central now that Collins is out. So in comes Demel. So both of them should play tomorrow. The question is who is best long term. Would be nice if someone could shed some light on this...

      Demel is a regular if he's fit. I'm probably keeping him during WC.

    Who is most likely to rise the most till the dgw:
    A: gibbs
    B: sagna
    C: mertesacker

    Thinking of doing enrique >> an arsenal defender....leaning towards sagna coz he is cheaper and i think he will get more attacking points now that he has played a few games.

    but choosing a player that will increase in value is that i can profit of them when i activate the wildcard in gw24.

    Right, drinking time.

    Happy New Year to you all! May all your hits pay off, your captains be fruitful and your rivals fail miserably.

    I swapped Hernandez for Suarez last week for a massive mistake but hopefully this week Javier should get some game start time? Surely he deserves it as Welbeck is sh1t for United!

    This is my current team;

    Jaaskelainen
    Gibbs – Bassong – Baines -Shawcross
    Michu – Toure – Sterling – Puncheon
    Tevez – RVP – Berbatov

    OPTION A - Was going to do the following for a 4 point hit;

    Toure -> Walcott
    Sterling -> Fellaini
    Tevez -> Lambert

    OPTION B - on reflection and with the DGW coming up I'm leaning towards;

    Baines -> Reid (WHM)
    Toure -> Walcott

    No hit on points and leaves me with 2.1M in the bank and I can do my flaini change next week

    OPTION C

    As per option B but bring in Fellaini for sterling for -4 hit

    Dare I question the RVP captaincy? It seems many people are going for it but I don't feel it this week. Far too many options. He's my 3rd choice currently behind Walcott (sot) and Defoe (RDG).

    Who to give the New Year's armband, folks?

    1) Suarez (on fire, against a weakened Makam defense, but prone to inconsistency)

    2) RVP (well, it's RVP, but he's away at an inform(ish) Wigwam

    3) Aguero (looked somewhere near his best last weekend, could have had a hatful, at home, but playing a back-to-strength Potters back line)

    4) Walcott (rampant spell up front and playing at lowly, leaky Saints but can we expect him to d it again?

    Your time starts ... now
