Rafaโ€™s weakened lineup get turned over by Harryโ€™s boys as Shaun Wright-Phillips returns to haunt the Stamford Bridge regulars. Thereโ€™s no such shock at Anfield as Luis Suarez fills his boots again, whilst Leighton Bainesโ€™ wonder strike inspires an Everton win at St Jamesโ€™ Parkโ€ฆ

On the Up

Luis Suarez
Seemingly everpresent in this article in over recent Gameweeks, Suarez once again delivered the goods for Liverpool, chipping in with his fourth and fifth goals in the last four league matches, whilst providing the assist for Raheem Sterlingโ€™s opener. Scoring back-to-back braces for the first time in his Liverpool career, his stock remain buoyant, his ownership and price on the climb. While Suarez has United and Arsenal in the next three, his form is so strong, thatโ€™s unlikely to be a factor that will perturb investors.

Steven Gerrard
The skipper goes on delivering: his pair of assists tonight means that Gerrard has now returned in his last six outings. Slowly but surely, Fantasy managers are waking up to his consistency โ€“ Gerrardโ€™s ownership is steadily on the rise and his price has climbed to 9.4. Suarez, for just 0.9 more, remains the stronger option by some margin, however.

Raheem Sterling
The 18-year-old operates in a different price bracket to the Liverpool heavy-hitters and, with his opening goal tonight, he delivered his first strike since Gameweek 8. Before this eveningโ€™s game, Sterling had just a single assist in his last nine league appearances โ€“ form that was beginning to call his value, even at 5.6, into question. Theyโ€™ll be no such doubts for a while, despite the arrival of Daniel Sturridge.

The Liverpool Defence
A third clean sheet in four games brought Brendan Rodgersโ€™ defence to the fore and with Andre Wisdom back in the side, Fantasy managers will certainly be taking note. The young full-back would surely only be a short-term option with Jose Enrique sidelined and with United and Arsenal to come, the โ€œwisdomโ€ of such a move seems limited.

Leighton Baines
A stunning thirty-yard free-kick brought Bainesโ€™ owners their first major returns since Gameweek 5. Before tonight, the Everton left-back had delivered just two assists in 13 league outings. While the clean sheet was again off the menu, Bainesโ€™ strike offered a timely reminder of his qualities ahead of a Gameweek 22 home meeting with Swansea.

Marouane Felliani
There was talk before the game that the Belgian could be dropped back to a deeper role with Darron Gibson sidelined but, with David Moyes drafting in Phil Neville and dropping Victor Anichebe, itโ€™s clear that Fellaini is set for the long-haul in an advanced role. He hardly dazzled but his physical presence played its part, earning the free-kick which was converted by Baines to give Felliani immediate assist returns.

Papiss Cisse
While Demba Ba negotiates his way out of St Jamesโ€™ Park, Cisse is trying to reinstate himself as Newcastleโ€™s hitman. His opening strike tonight was his second in three matches and, with Alan Pardew suggesting prior to the match that Cisse will eventually lead the attack back in a central role, he is gradually coming in from the cold as a Fantasy option.

The QPR Defence
Nobody would have backed the Rโ€™s defence for a shutout at Stamford Bridge having witnessed Luis Suarez tear them apart last time out. Rafaโ€™s teamsheet may have played its part in helping Harry Redknapp motivate his side and that factor shouldnโ€™t be underestimated. While Harry will surely bring in plenty of new blood, the likes of Ryan Nelsen may remain a mainstay and could provide strong value if Redknapp can go on inspiring similar performances.

Going Down

Rafa Benitez
It would be harsh to dent the stock of the players involved when itโ€™s Rafaโ€™s rotation policy that is to blame. Tonightโ€™s decision to rest all three of the players who supported Fernando Torres at Goodison came as a shock โ€“ itโ€™s the first time Chelsea have started a league game this season without both Eden Hazard or Juan Mata. With Ashley Cole also preserved, itโ€™s become clear that nobody is safe from an occasional rest. Perhaps we shouldnโ€™t be surprised, but that fails to sweeten the pill and introduces an unwelcome variable when considering Chelsea assets. You have to wonder, however, having suffered a shock defeat, whether Rafa will think again when it comes to underestimating opponents with his team selection.

Fernando Torres
The Spaniard survived Rafaโ€™s rotation cull to lead the attack but drew a blank for the third successive league outing. With Demba Ba in talks and Benitez hinting that a rest for Torres is in his plans, those still clinging to El Nino will surely be fidgeting and considering their options.

Demba Ba
His absence from Newcatleโ€™s lineup came as an immediate blow to his Fantasy owners โ€“ his pending move to Chelsea may dent his stock further. Having witnessed Rafaโ€™s rotation policy at work tonight, few will relish the prospects of Ba being part of that, regardless of the prospect of improved service.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not really looking forward to the second half of the season, my team feels like it's screwed right now and even when I look at Wildcard ideas it just looks like I'm going one way too strongly. (i.e poor defence, expensive attack)

I know I'll regret whichever way I go. And the template teams make it very hard to pick an original attack. Suarez looks essential but I'm just so apathetic towards him and would prefer to own Aguero. But now Aguero is injured and my other striker Ba is potentially a non-entity now. So much for the cheap alternative to Suarez. This Jan WC is screwing everybody over (well maybe just me) ๐Ÿ™

I will also be mega pissed off if my striker(Ba) doesn't play and I get -129 (Cuellar) from my bench.

If it was me, I would do a "Katie" and commit FPL suicide.

I don't know Bilbo...I'm just pessimistic about everything...I feel like this week I was royally screwed over with the Ba thing, Mata not starting, None of my defenders playing...feels like things have taken a turn for the worse despite everything go ok for a while. Go 3-4-3 imo.

There's a reason the 3-5-2 is only being touted a valid strategy now.

A 3rd striker will emerge. Even if it doesn't, you can juggle and still collect big hauls with the 3rd spot. (e.g. Hernandez today)

Just had a play around wondering what a good differential wildcard would look like (in case i was looking to catch up)

Its actually very difficult , very few choices available outside the main culprits, there never been suh a concentration on such a few number of players. Increase in big team rotation is the main culprit , just fery few nailed on differentials

must be why i still in top k , very hard catch up this season

Think Lampard Gerrard would have to be in there , and maybe some quality attacking defenders

Is it necessary to spend a lot on 5th mids like Puncheon, Sterling when there are nailed on options like Guthrie at 4.1 and Marveaux at 4.3. Reckon that 0.3 - 0.5 could be used elsewhere. I have Puncheon and he stays on my bench most of the time. Seriously want to downgrade to Guthrie or Marveaux.

Thinking the same. I have very little money so my 5th Mid really does have to stay on the bench every week and so should not take up funds. I bought Punchy for 4.4 but could sell for .2 profit and get Guthrie or Marv. Tempting!

    Potential WC

Not really bothered by having a cheap defence...I think overpriced defenders are a little overrated if they steal money for upgrades elsewhere. These defenders will obviously get less CS than the elite teams but a rotation of them might get a similar score overall.

Aguero could score more than Silva some points butyou dont captain him so Silva 9.4 is still better.

Presuming that Ba has gone, tiote has gone to the afcon (happy days ;)) and that cabeye and saylor will be back for Norwich, this is how I expect us to line up:

    ----------------------Krul-----------------
    Debuchy--Saylor--Colo--Santon
    ---------------Anita---Perchinio-----
    ------------------Cabeye--------------
    Obertan-------Cisse---Marveaux

We are starting to get back to full strength. Barfa in for Obertan when he comes back in Feb. But Obertan has actually started to look decent last couple of games.

The above team is way better than anything else in the bottom half of the table, so we should be fine I reckon. Plus hopefully a new forward and centre back

Right now he is. But if we sign Remy, or someone of a similar level, then they would likely take marveaux's spot.

Another option for us, would be to play marveaux, and buy a youngish forward, as back up to the forwards. Keep an eye on that one
