Continuing our round-up of the Christmas period, it’s time to treat our members to a series of articles which examines each of the positions and analyses the form of the key protagonists over the past four Gameweeks. We start in defence, by casting an eye over the top tens for our ICT Index, plus a more in-depth look at the main performers in terms of goal threat and creativity….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sorry to ask this again, but...

Is Kyle Naughton guaranteed a start for Spurs next week. Long term I will be getting Assou-ekotto, but can only afford a def of 4.2 as I want to transfer in Matta and Ba for DGW. Am I being slightly arrogant to be happy to take 12 point hit as I’m now 76 ahead in mini league.

Also, I have the identikit forward line of RVP, Berbs and Suarez, so was thinking of getting rid of Suarez for the short term and rotating for DGWs. Good idea, or will it come back and sting me? Questions, questions.

Repost from bottom of last page.

Worth getting Ba in for Benteke or Hernandez? Both have decent fixtures this week but can’t help but feel like I’m going to miss out on a Ba explosion. Or keep both and get Hazard in for Silva instead?

Haz for Silva for me Emps. The Ba thing is a bit overly emotional here tonight. Think about it... unless Chels change their formation to accommodate him, Ba will be rested as much as Torres as he's now played more minutes (I believe).

Have similar thoughts Vets but like I said can see Ba trying to make a statement and banging in a few this week and would suck to miss out on it. Hazard is probably the simpler and more logical move though

I don't see so much value in the DGWs; the fixtures are tough and there is also the threat of Rafatation. I'm thinking of going in with just Mata this week and Walcott (and Demel but I've had him for a long time) the next as they are the explosive players and not having them could be dangerous.

If they have 2 WC then fair play to them but for those with 1 WC I think the best strategy is to simply sort out a team for the rest of the season, those lucky monster hauls look like being offset by the amount of hits people are taking.

This is true. I think i am going to wait and just use 2FT to get Mata & one of Luiz/Cole/Cahill. It means no Bale or Baines this week which is annoying as that was my original plan before this DGW.

Still got both my WC's so considering loading up on DGWers with 1st one and playing the other in a couple of weeks to get rid of them.

Anyone know if there's likely to be further DGW's later in the season?

Yes, there will be. Any team involved in the FA Cup Semi will be involved in it, plus any rearranged games for any reason. There was one hell of a bumper one last season for GW35/36, I forget which.

Could be a big one late on due to the FA Cup like there was last season.

Right this Chelsea/Southampton DGW has caught me on the hop after meticulous planning for the Arsenal/Wham one everything is now in tatters as I have no Chelsea or Southampton players and plenty of my players have tough games this week, e.g. Arsenal vs City, Liverpool at Man Utd, Swansea at Everton.

I always intended to use my WC after the next DGW to allow for the majority of January transfers and to repair the squad after going Arsenal heavy - I'm planning on sticking with that as I think a -8 this week and a -4 the week after to load up on DGW's is better use than squandering my WC before either DGW and leaving my squad in immediate need of repair.

    So, this week:

Ruddy, Cuellar, Cazorla > Turnbull, Azpilicueta, Mata (-8)

    or

    Cuellar, Cazorla, Sessegnon > Luiz/Ivanovic, Mata, Ramirez/Puncheon (-8)

Followed by moves to bring Cazorla and Nolan in (I already have Gibbs Walcott and Demel).

Am I right in thinking a -8 and then -4 then a wildcard is a better idea than wildcarding too early and having a skewed squad? If so, which variation of the above is better?

Im in same boat as you

however i see choice between wildcard now
OR just bring in Mata for free and capt him

      I certainly wont take hits

Aguero's injury now the most talked about thing on here over DDGW. People definitely eyeing up Dzeko if he's out long term, I know I am

one of these players I'd like him to be nailed on. Would deffinitely get him if guaranteed starter due to Kun's longer injury

With the aguero hamstring problem and with Rafa being stupid enough to start Torres in some games instead of Ba (say in one of the dgw) I'm thinking to get Tevez at a nice discount......(instead of Defoe vs QPR)
