Continuing our round-up of the Christmas period, it’s time to treat our members to a series of articles which examines each of the positions and analyses the form of the key protagonists over the past four Gameweeks. We start in defence, by casting an eye over the top tens for our ICT Index, plus a more in-depth look at the main performers in terms of goal threat and creativity….
Is Captaining Luiz too Risky?! Or should I go for Berbatov - I'm not sure about captaining Van Persie against Liverpool.
Open ControlsMornings guys. Is saving WC to after GW23/24 still a viable tactic with two DGWs coming up?
When reading these forums I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who wants to save the WC. I'm ahead in my most important ML and at about the same points in the other, I feel like the risky move is WC-ing now and setting the team up for double DGWs instead of waiting it out. What do you guys think? My current team
Jassi Bego
Baines Enrique Cuellar Demel Davies
Cazorla Walcott Michu Nolan Sterling
RVP Suarez Berbatov
1FT 1.2M in the bank. Thinking just Enrique -> Azp/Luiz and Cazorla -> Mata, then maybe trade Cazorla back next GW.Open Controlsi like takin risks.. WCing and gettin 12 DGWers and WCing again GW 24.. cant go wrong really
Open ControlsThe transfers you suggest for a -4 hit seems sensible and worth it (especially if your do Mata (c) too), i think you have thought it through as well which is key.
Go for it.Open ControlsThanks for the feedback, I just wanted a confirmation that I'm not crazy to save the WC. Mata (c) definitely.
Open ControlsI did it coz i had to get Mata , Bale and Walcott in before they got too pricy, i cant believe i got this far without them to be fair, but as a result my TV was under par 🙂
Im happy now and the extra DGW is a bonus because i had WC before it was announce 😀Open ControlsI can see it with low TV, but I built TV with taking a few hits here and there during the season for this exact purpose; being able to keep cool during this period and not worry about price rises during the last part of the season. Of course, that's my IDEA. We'll see how it works out.
Hehe, that must be nice! There is definitely some points to score over the DDGWs.Open Controls
I preder to use my WC during after Arsenal's DGW for many reasons
-Newcastle's form at the back and up front.
-The Sturridge-Suarez link up.
-Any transfer news whatsoever.
There are many other reasons, and I'm sure you could state a few ;).Open Controlsjust do jose > azpi/luiz. keep santi, you'll want him back.
Open Controls
Still amazes me how many transfers are made before cup games finish. Why take a gamble on injuries? Even if its to get a player before he rises.
Open ControlsWC....loads of people are now activated.......can change again if required......go for a few price rises
Open Controls
I think I've finallised my WCT, could you have a look and tell me what you think please? Cheers
Turnbull/Szczesney
Shaw, Demel, R Martin, Azpi, Gibbs
Mata, Bale, Michu, Walcott, Puncheon
RVP, Suarez, LambertOpen ControlsI quite like it. It's on the lines of what I'm going for.
- I'd advise you to get a bit of Stoke defence in there. Seems essential.
- Turner is a little more nailed on than R. Martin who will rotate with Whittaker.
Looks well set up I say.Open ControlsI like Shawcross, but not at that price. I'd get Cameron instead. Other than that I like it a lot. You have a big bench problem this week though 😉
Open Controls
IF i opt for Puncheon, instead of Noble or J.Cole, then who to drop from this front 8 for this GW?
mata michu bale walcott punch
ba RVP suarezOpen ControlsThis is the exact reason I don't want to transfer Sterling -> Puncheon. Huuuuuge bench dilemma. If you are on WC though, Puncheon is the best option for a cheap mid, so you kind of "have to" get him. I'd probably bench The only ones you CAN bench from that front 8 is Michu or Walcott, toss a coin.
Open Controlsthanks dogba. that's why i'm more tempted with noble or j.cole
Open ControlsYeah, but if you are on WC it seems silly picking them over Puncheon which has DGW AND is such good value. Even with the bench problem. Like I said if I was on WC, I'd get Puncheon and just man up and pick between Punch/Walcott/Michu for bench.
Open Controlsi'm not on WC. so should i get punch, noble or j.cole for that pie spot?
Open ControlsNeither, Pienaar is a good pick this week no? Swansea at home with Fellaini back in the team coming off a win. Just bench him if you want.
Open Controlsproblem is, i got 2 FTs and i think i should do 1. what would you propose?
bego mcCarthy
bassong o'brien davies nelsen shorey
mata michu bale walcott pie
ba RVP suarez
(0.1 itb)Open Controls
I've got the same dilemma, honestly hard to justify dropping any of them, yes Puncheon has Villa as one fixture, but will he outscore any of those 7? Tricky
Open Controlsi'm possibly going to avoid puncheon after reading your comment!
Open Controls
i think michu = baines, never captain, never bench.
Open Controls
yes if we are not careful our front 8 will be too stacked with dgw and tasty fixtures players
Open Controlsi agree. still not sure if it's worth getting SOT players, even for DGW.
Open Controls
ye ke? thanks btw.
Open Controls
Heres the team atm:
Mannone, Begovic
Sanga, Clyne, Cameron, Johnson, Obrien
Snodgrass, Fellani, Walcott, Bale, Sterling
RVP, Berbatov, Suarez
1 ft 0.1 in bank
For dgw 22 plan is - johnson to azqi or mannone to turnball (like my forward 8 and dont really wanna rape it too much, but could ditch snod/sterling for sot mid)
dgw 23 - get in nolan/noble/demel
then wc
any thoughts would be appreciated, cheersOpen ControlsDue to Fonte's injury concern, play 1 of Gibbs,Demel, and Fonte.(Others are Verto and Cuellar)
Ty.Open ControlsHey fellas, I just completed WC version 1. How am I looking? What would you do different? As first season as a member on here would love to hear your thoughts ....
Turnbull (Bego)
Gibbs, Cameron, Shaw (O'Brien, Demel)
Fellaini, Bale, Mata (c), Walcott (Nolan)
RVP, Ba, Berb
Obviously, packing Whammers for next week and will transfer Bale to Santi too, with FT.Open ControlsLess than 10,000 fans at an FA cup match between 2 prem teams cannot happen very often?
Open ControlsI was one of those 8000 odd. Nobody gives a shit about the FA cup at QPR. It felt like a friendly. Neither team looked up for it either, both lacking any real effort to win, reserves get a run out. It's not taken seriously so the fans don't bother.
Open Controls
Anyone know if Chamakh can play against us in the DGW? I guess not but haven't heard any details mentioned.
Open ControlsPodolski, Cazorla, Walcott the best ARS cover for the DGW ?
Or is it better to include a defender like Sagna ?Open Controlsfor the DGW that looks good, but if you went with the option of say a defender instead of one of those you then wouldn't face the problem of having to get one or two of them out. Long term 2 Arsenal mids is overkill. I've gone Gibbs, more nailed on according to people on here.
Open Controls
Really want to Cash in on Begovic as i Got him for 4.6? Keep or trade him out for someone?
Open Controlskeep him
Open Controls
Does anyone know the answer to this: If you make transfers in one GW and take a point hit and confirm those transfers. If you then decide you want to wildcard in the same GW, will the wildcard remove the point hit from the transfers you have already confirmed?
Open ControlsThis extra double gamesweek is causing a right stir!
I don't often come on here asking for advice without giving an insight into what I am thinking of doing, but how the hell do I get Mata into this team (I do not want to ship out Walcott or Bale and get them back next week!).
Begovic
Clyne/Vert/Gibbs/Demel/Nelsen
Walcott/Bale/Pienaar/Michu/Puncheon
Berbs/Suarez/RVP
1FT; £1.5m in the bank.
Is it just sufficient to do Vert > Luiz or Foster > Turnbull & captain Bale?
Then there is the question of whom to bench?
Thanks.Open ControlsIt is looking that my way but I don't want a deluge of Arsenal/West Ham players after their dgw.
Open ControlsDon't need to.....just be sensible
Chelsea x 3 (inc Mata)
Southampton x 1 or 2
Arsenal x 2 or 3 (inc Walcott)
West ham x 1 or 2
Built around RVP, Bale, Michu, Begovic, Suarez, Berbs
Maybe go for a bit of Ba?Open Controls
Berbatov > Ruiz and upgrade Pienaar if that works?
Open ControlsThis works perfectly with nothing left in the bank - thanks - now to have the balls to do it! 🙂
Open Controls
i too am considering no chelsea attack and going for their defense as i too dont wanna lose bale or walcott. without ruining your team it wont happen withour taking out one if those 2. but mata may get limited minutes anyway so i plan to hide behind the couch when hes playing...
Open ControlsLacks Mata
Your team could have been great had this chelsea dgw not happened......
Don't want to wildcard???Open ControlsTrying to avoid the WC...
Open Controls
I'm considering Walcott to mata for the dgw and then transfer Walcott or santi back in for the gw23. The way I see it, Walcott is isn't likely to score that heavily against city and if mata does get a mega dgw score then the forum is going to be one hell of a lonely place for anyone that didn't have him! 😉
Open Controls
Anyone think Lamps or Oscar are worth getting in for Taarabt for the DGW? Can't quite stretch to Hazard (Already have Mata)
Open ControlsI have Puncheon, would probably lose Oscar/Lamps for Nolan the following week..
Open Controls
Bench Michu or Walcott?
Turnbull
Shaw - Luiz - Davies
Mata - MICHU - Fellaini - Puncheon
Suarez - van Persie - Lambert
Jussi - WALCOTT - Demel - GibbsOpen Controlsanybody fancy captaining ivanovic for dgw? really tempted to do
Open ControlsIt worked last time! I'll probably captain Mata though..
Open Controls
Either.....Azpil if want to save a couple bob.....reckon they'll get about the same game time...
Open Controls
Ready to go?
http://oi48.tinypic.com/4vlkdz.jpg
Plan to do
Obrien>Wilson
Luis>Baines in Gw24Open ControlsNo :(. even so i would not like to bench Walcott or Michu, agree?
Open Controls
Who are the most nailed on Chelsea players for the DGW?
Open Controlsdon't avoid him just for the sake of a selection dilemma, he's a good long term pick, whoever you choose is a good pick for this week, think of it as a nice dilemma, reply to association Bergkamp, think his post is lost on last page
Open ControlsJussi (Rudd)
Azip/Zaba/Shaw (Demel/Harte)
Hazard/Mata/Walcott/Puncheon (Michu)
RVP/Suarez/Lambert
sub for gw23 - hazard to santi
OR
Turnbull (Rudd)
Zaba/Naughton/Shaw (Demel/Harte)
Walcott/Santi/Mata/Puncheon (Michu)
Ba/Suarez/RVP
save 1 sub for gw24Open ControlsNEW POST
Open ControlsCan anyone find me the link to the feature on Wildcard Strategies?
Open Controlsthere's some great discussions going on about WC teams and cheap defences etc. and not as many vanilla RMTs as you might expect
Well done everyone. 🙂Open ControlsSomeone mentioned earlier that R Martin is not nailed on for Norwich, that he is rotated. Is this true? As far as I can tell he is nailed on, he's played the last three games and was even captain in the absence of Holt against Manchester City. He also played a string of games earlier in the season. Should I get Turner as he's more nailed on? Cheers
Open ControlsOK. Think I've finally settled on my WC team. Was firmly in the 352 camp prior to DDGW but now preparing to gamble on Ba maintaining his form and starts at chelsea.
Turnbul (Begovic)
Azpi,Clyne/shaw, O'brien (gibbs & demel)
Fellaini, Walcott, Bale, Michu (marvaux)
MVP, Suarez, Ba(c)
then doing the Ba podolski shuffle over next two weeks.
Gives me 3 chelsea 1 sou then 3 ars two w.ham with no hits and ok bench
What does everyone think?Open ControlsHello, first time poster here and would appriciate some help!
Wasn't going to use WC until after GW23, but with the extra DGW I think i'll have to do it now. This is what i'm looking at doing -
Jaaskelainen, Federici
Gibbs, Luiz, Fonte, Reid, Nelson
Walcott, Puncheon, Santi Cazorla, Bale, Hazard
Pogrebnyak, Lambert, Ba
Would do Puncheon > Nolan or Noble for GW23. Also would be playing 3-5-2Open Controls

Is Captaining Ruiz too Risky?!
