634x258 The Stock Check

Strikes from Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor are not enough as the Baggies boing back to rescue a point in midlands derby clash. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
A superb turn and an exocet shot that arrowed into Ben Foster’s net, handed Benteke his seventh goal of the season. The Belgian continues to be Paul Lambert’s key player and the sole Fantasy temptation in the Villa squad. With the Newcastle failing back four up next, Benteke’s chances of scoring back-to-back goals looks enticing.

Charles N’Zogbia
A former Fantasy favourite, at times in the first half, the former Latics winger sparkled and showed glimpses of talent that once made him a serious proposition. A brace of assists will immediately re-introduce him to the radar and, having made just his fourth start of the season, N’Zogbia he could yet emerge as a mid-price prospect in a Villa midfield that’s been bereft of Fantasy options.

Chris Brunt
Rather like the Norwich midfield assets, it appears that Brunt has been on a see-saw with James Morrsion as the main source of points for the Baggies in the middle of the park. A second goal in five games promotes Brunt’s stock this time around and arguably helps to oust Morrison as the primary target in Steve Clarke’s midfield.

Going Down

The West Brom Defence
With Gareth McAuley owned by over 8% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Ben Foster claiming over 6%, the Baggies rearguard goes on disappointing. Having started the season with three shut-outs in the opening five fixtures, Clarke’s side have gone six without defensive returns, conceding more than a single goal in their last four. It’s one clean sheet in 13 league outings, although McAuley’s assist for Odemwingie’s equaliser will sweeten that pill for tonight at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I envy people who have Walcott/Cazorla this week. It's what I wanted to do myself but its one of those where you feel like you're going against the grain a bit too much. I fear that pair could do serious damage and my rival picked it...

Getting Cazorla would have meant selling Mata for 9.4, I bought him at 8.9. I really hope he does nothing at all.

I can see him not doing much against Chelsea. Arsenal will sit back and use Theo's pace on the counter. Hopefully.

double city? How bout Nasty to Gibbs? Stoke have recently been subject to a drop in cs so I a a bit hesitant myself to go double stoke. DDG-Fed is risky but not a bad way to get in utd defensive coverage. You front 8 looks good

I love doubling up on defences. The rewards of it paying off are great.
I will change Wilson to someone else if he isn't back for a while but I will not go near QPR defence.

Looks good for week 25 onwards. Double City defence is interesting, it could pay off! But then there are some good potential CS options starting to appear now.

Good side, and a bonus point for creativity.

    Activated the old WC tonight.

    Right now, my thinking is:

    Bego, Bunn

    Gibbs, Zaba, Davies, Clyne, Demel

    Mata, Bale, Michu, Fellaini, Guthrie

    RVP, Aguero, Fletcher

After looking at the next 6, I convinced myself that Fletch and Guthrie was better than Punch and Remy.

I have Walcott right now, and I always planned to let him go, but should I make room for him now?

I have had Michu from the start, so now would only get £7.4 for him if I sold him. That pretty much means I have to keep him unless something pretty fked up happens to him. If I was looking at current prices I might well buy De Guzman or someone and spend the big cash somewhere else.

He's damn good though it can't be denied, and he is the highest scoring MF and only Suarez and RVP have more points... maybe I would buy him at market rate actually... why dont you just do EVRA and MICHU? You can't fault that really.

    Fellow Wildcarders,

Who are you bringing in for prices tonight?
A bit difficult with both totalfpl and fiso broken but I'm putting my money on Dzeko and Mignolet (already have Walcott and Lukaku)

Could bring in Sagna but I think he's only rising because of transfers before the deadline so he won't rise twice (or may take until the end of the week the rise twice)

My top 4 to double rise this week are Fellaini, Sturridge, Davies and if he isn't protected, Fletch.

Not sure if Lukaku will rise again, or Dzeko. They didn't perform this weekend.

Why the sudden love for Fletcher?

First goals in 5 games against a very poor defence, continually poor underlying stats and in a team that is inconsistent going forward.

When you have Dzeko and Sturridge in the same price bracket can't see him being a great pick.

At least I either own or am not intending to own all of tonight's risers. Got to resist the odd 0.1s to be made this week.

I reckon as usual transfers will be busiest Saturday night (tonight), next busiest Sunday night and some decent activity on Monday due to the Everton game. Plus some activity on Wednesday due to the arsenal game.

advice wd be resist until 25 if you dont need to do it.
There will always be price rises to catch whatever week you do it.

Does anyone know if RVP has ever started more than one game in a week at Man Utd? He could, potentially, miss the Everton, Southampton and West Ham games around the Real Madrid legs.

63 points in the last 7 games and still only 6%. Feel like i'm doing something wrong by picking Gerrard as nobody else is but the points don't lie. Confused.

All the focus is on Suarez. and Sturridge too nowadays.

But yeah it's surprising that he's been doing that well and people aren't noticing. 9 ppg is big!

If only it was Michu, his price would incrase by 1.0 at least already 😀

Yeah is price rise over those games is only 0.1m. I guess it's either one or the other and most go with Suarez.

The point is is that it takes some players time to adjust. Giroud's movement and positioning is excellent. It's only his finishing that's been letting him down.

Am I right in thinking most people are ditching Begovic due to Stoke's poor run of form and for a better long term option?

Crazy to sell, if you bought him at 4.5 or thereabouts. They are just in poor form.

Rotates well with Bunn too, I find.

Hmm, I suppose. Just think when Wilson is fit he can be my Stoke coverage rather than Bego. Mignolet is looking hard to ignore, with Cuellar out he's probably the best route into Sunderland's defence.

    Bego - Turnbull

    Baines - Gibbs - Shawcross - Demel - O Brien

    Cazorla - Mata - Michu - Bale - Punch

    Berbs - Ba - Suarez

    TO

    Bego - Federici

    Zab - Gibbs - Davies - Demel - Wisdom

    Fellani - Mata - Michu - Bale - Punch

    Sturridge - Aguero - Rooney

Would like to do it tonight to avoid rises so advice would be appreciated 🙂

      Don't like Rooney much though

Also Wisdom will probably be benched after next 2 tough fixtures.
