On the Up

Christian Benteke
A superb turn and an exocet shot that arrowed into Ben Foster’s net, handed Benteke his seventh goal of the season. The Belgian continues to be Paul Lambert’s key player and the sole Fantasy temptation in the Villa squad. With the Newcastle failing back four up next, Benteke’s chances of scoring back-to-back goals looks enticing.

Charles N’Zogbia
A former Fantasy favourite, at times in the first half, the former Latics winger sparkled and showed glimpses of talent that once made him a serious proposition. A brace of assists will immediately re-introduce him to the radar and, having made just his fourth start of the season, N’Zogbia he could yet emerge as a mid-price prospect in a Villa midfield that’s been bereft of Fantasy options.

Chris Brunt
Rather like the Norwich midfield assets, it appears that Brunt has been on a see-saw with James Morrsion as the main source of points for the Baggies in the middle of the park. A second goal in five games promotes Brunt’s stock this time around and arguably helps to oust Morrison as the primary target in Steve Clarke’s midfield.

Going Down

The West Brom Defence
With Gareth McAuley owned by over 8% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Ben Foster claiming over 6%, the Baggies rearguard goes on disappointing. Having started the season with three shut-outs in the opening five fixtures, Clarke’s side have gone six without defensive returns, conceding more than a single goal in their last four. It’s one clean sheet in 13 league outings, although McAuley’s assist for Odemwingie’s equaliser will sweeten that pill for tonight at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Just got on and read the previous page -- saw your WC question and I would ask if Aguero and Mata are worth the extra 2-2.5m over Ba and Silva. Would free up significant money for an upgrade at the back. As for the 12.6, maybe Harte OBrien Nelsen (who would become Wilson)?

        i think so. sure silva will have one or two big games like today but typically aguero will be much more explosive. who would you be more confident captaining, aguero or silva?

        and mata is more nailed on than ba i recon and i figure can score just as well if not better

          I went the opposite direction, but definitely agree Aguero is more explosive than Silva, though I feel the comparison is closer than many here.

          Will connect w Declan again but we both have no preference so it will be easy to split up.

            i guess it all comes down to preference but at least for me iw ouldn't be too confident captaining silva, as he could easily have a game where he assists the assister but i'd be much more confident captaining aguero (yes he could draw a blank but he could also get a big haul much more likely)

        Personally, I think it's the explosiveness that makes Mata and Aguero so attractive to have over Ba and Silva, but you do make a good point

        nahh. most of the big teams haven't been keeping many cleanies. only big defenders i'd even consider would be a pool one or a city one as they've been somewhat consistent keeping cleanies. but i think the ability to have aguero sturridge and those 4 strong mids should make up for not having a big hitter. plus if you rotate your cheapies well you should be able to get decent returns from them too

      I think he's a good bet, but for me he's too much for a cheap defender and not enough for a big hitter

      In the past, AVB has shown he will not drop a performing player for someone returning from injury / transferred in (Adebayor aside, special circumstances IMO)

      Look at Parker, Lloris, BAE

      I would say Dawson is pretty nailed on as it stands, Gallas is a liability anyway.

    Tottenham have 4 CBs vying for 2 spots (Kaboul should be back next week). Only Vert is safe, and even he gets the odd rest.

    Avoid both Wisdom and Dawson.
