Fantasy managers have been served notice of another double Gameweek this morning after Liverpool confirmed they have rearranged their home match with Swansea for Sunday February 17. This means both clubs now have a double Gameweek 26 on their respective agendas, with Liverpool also playing host to West Brom in the same window, while Michael Laudrup’s men entertain QPR at the Liberty before making their way to Anfield.

The fixture was previously scheduled for Sunday February 24 but has since been cancelled due to Swansea’s Capital One Cup Final duties. With both clubs exiting the FA Cup, however, they are free to face off in the weekend prior to the start of Gameweek 27, which gets underway on Saturday February 23.

Swansea will be first out the blocks. Michael Laudrup’s side square up to QPR on Saturday February 9, while Liverpool’s Fantasy owners must wait two more days before the Reds welcome the Baggies to Anfield on Monday February 11. A further six days will then test our patience before the pair go head-to-head on Merseyside.

Liverpool’s home form is particularly enticing here. They have won five of their last six in front of their own fans, registering five clean sheets and scoring three or more goals on four occasions. While Swansea have scored in just two of their last six on the road, they have registered a clean sheet in four of those matches, however, suggesting a tight match could be on the cards at Anfield. Their home clash with QPR also looks tricky; Harry Redknapp’s side have kept clean sheets against Chelsea, Spurs and City in their last four matches, though the loss of Ryan Nelsen will hit them hard.

Nevertheless, significant investment can be expected from both sides, given the success of both Chelsea and Arsenal in the double Gameweek gone by. Michu and Ben Davies look primed for further investment for the Swans, while Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique all look likely candidates for Brendan Rodgers’ side. As always, we’ll have Scouting the Doubles articles on both, weighing up the main protagonists on offer.

Given that both clubs have a blank Gameweek immediately after, benches will be more crucial than ever. Those who have yet to wildcard may look to the likes of Reading for cut-price squad fillers – the Royals’ home match with Wigan in Gameweek 27 looks a decent shout for coverage, for example.

Both clubs also have strong looking schedules from Gameweek 28 onwards, suggesting many will be keen to hold rather than ship out immediately. Swansea have three home matches in the following four (NEW, ARS, TOT) and also have trips to West Brom, Norwich and Wigan. Liverpool travel to Wigan, Southampton and Villa and also play host to Spurs and West Ham – clearly, investment could be for the long-term, then.

Our Season Ticker has now been updated to reflect today’s news, while Members can check out the Rate My Team section – the double has now been factored into the tool.

So, am I the only person that thinks Swansea will rest their key players on the 17th Feb, a week before their final?

Michu, for example, has already been rested in preparation for the League Cup.

    That is all.

Did not see the new Article.

    A DGW Strategy

So basically if there is a DGW, it will be GW26 involving Liv and Swa. Liv will have WBA and SWA. Swansea will have QPR and liv. Good looking fixtures. Now provided you want 4-6 DGW players, you need bench fodder which is playable the next week. Both Liv and Swa have a blank GW27. So this bench fodder for GW26 is playable GW27 because the weakish teams have good fixtures.
Bench fodder for GW26 which can be utilized for GW27

    GW27 fixtures
Reading vs. Wigan -> Pog, Harte, Pearce, Guthrie, Stam, Maloney, Henriquez, Kebe
Fulham vs. Stoke -> Wilson(hopefully), Ruiz, Hughes, Cameron
Nor vs. Everton -> Nor defenders
Wbrom vs. Sunderland -> Wbrom defenders, Lukaku, Cuellar, Fletch, Gardner
Newcastle vs. Southampton -> Punch, Clyne/Shaw
West Ham vs. Tottenham as well..

Should be manageable. A lot of the weakish teams have good fixtures. So basically have the likes of Kebe, Punch, Pog, Guthrie as your 5th mid/3rd striker and have defenders from these set of fixtures as your back up defenders. Should easily allow you to negotiate through the DGW followed by the blank.

Surely the maximum number of DGW players you can have without taking a hit to have 11 the next week is 4? Unless you already have at least 4 now.

Excellent points. It's all about preparing for both weeks, rather than the DGW.

I have Guthrie and Pearce who I'm happy to play at home to Wigan.

With 5 DGWers, you get 16 appearances from your players in that week, plus 2 from your captain (you would surely captain a DGW player).

This is really tempting me to have Suarez, Sturridge and GJ, and take a 4 point hit to fix it the week after.

But that's no better than having 4 in the DGW and 11 the week after. Unless you really want 5 Liv/Swa players. In fact it is worse if some of those 5 don't play one of the games for whatever reason

      Garner O'Shea......... Rose

The other centre back position is hard to call. Cuellar ha it but Bramble has come in and done better than him in recent weeks. most fans would be disappointed to see Cuellar replace Bramble when he returns. on top of this there is new signing Mangane nearing full fitness so know one knows how O'Neill see that player.

The other 3 are nailed on though....Gardner has kept bardsley on the bench for last 6 weeks and rightfully so.

I'm not convinced by this DGW at all, at least, not from a Liverpool perspective:

3 games in 6 day with an away game against Zenit in the middle, a blank GW the following week and then 3/4 away games then tough home fixtures for the forseeable future.

If I had Liverpool players I wouldn't be getting rid, but I'm not falling over myself to get them in...

Tbh, I think it's probably better to go with a LIV defender and attacker; spreads the risk a bit doesn't it. And GJ is pretty much a midfielder anyway 😎

Repost from end of last thread

DGW26 looks like a real trap week, unless you have a remaining WC to sort the team afterwards. I already have Davies and Michu and I think adding two Liverpool players out of Enrique, Studge, Suarez or Gerrard is what I’ll be looking to do. Will save my FT this week to get in the Reds players later, after City away. 2 Swans and 2 Reds sound about right to everyone who doesn’t have WC left?

At 5.5 he offers the cheapest route into the United back 4. He'll probably get some rotation (but who won't) and I seem to remember him doing a lot better second half of last season...

Just saying that he'll get rotated in the League for our crucial games with Real possibly. Rafael is probably the cheapest best bet at the moment.

About Suarez's CUPTIEDness. Copied an excerpt from the Pool fans forum if this helps?

"Yes he is cup-tied. Chelsea have dropped to the Europa so therefore, he is cup tied. It was the same with Suarez in 2011 when Ajax dropped to the Europa."

QPR have conceded 1 goal in their last 4 games. Liverpool have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 6 home games. Why does anyone think this is a tasty DGW for Swansea?

Lot of 'might' about that. I can't see Redknapp seeing Swansea being lesser opposition, especially with the media lining up to cream over pictures of Laudrup

Because runs like this don't continue for long even though there's nothing to suggest why they shouldn't. 2 weeks of Swansea scoring and they'll suddenly become the great attacking force everyone imagines them to be again and the blanks will be forgotten

Sh*t happen ins DGWs. Double the chance of dodgy assists, fluke clean sheets and then just the appearance points. They are usually worth having players if they are nailed on.

Anyone else thinking to get reina instead of GJ or Enrique?

If you plan for 3 liv + 2 swa and have a playing 2nd GK ( the likes of bunn, fed), you will be abke to field 11 the following week without a hit.

    Does this sound reasonable?

Gibbs -> GlenJo leaving me the following for the DGW.

    Jussi
    Davies* – Zabaleta – GlenJo*
    Mata – Fellaini – Michu* - Walcott
    Ba – RVP – Sturridge*

    Federici – Ramirez - Demel - Shaw

Enough? The blank week afterwards messes up bringing more players in IMO.

I have a WC but think it would be a waste using it then.

If you had Suarez, Enrique, Michu and Davies for the DGW and had to get rid of one of them, does it seem alright to do:

GW 27: Suarez > Cisse (He's got some BRILLIANT fixtures, may I add)
    GW 28: Pogrebnyak > Sturridge

Thus getting Sturridge as Pool cover. Yay or Nay?
