Another Wayne Rooney goal, another Robin Van Persie blank – United’s hard-fought victory at the Cottage added further fuel to the fire for Fantasy managers. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
Despite being moved to the left midway through the second-half, the former Everton man secured the points with a calm finish. Having grabbed a double last time out against Southampton, Rooney is staking a real case for consideration either as an alternative or partner for Robin Van Persie in our forward lines and looks a real differential with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership under 7%. His consistency of late has been staggering – tonight’s goal made it eight in the last six league starts.

Jonny Evans
His return to the starting lineup made an immediate difference at the Cottage. United had registered clean sheets in each of Evans’ previous two appearances – given they had conceded in the last three without him, his calming influence at the back looks to be a major factor. With the assist for Rooney’s goal, Evans looks set to earn FPL bonus points to cap another assured display.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has now registered back-to-back blanks – coinciding with Rooney’s return to the starting XI. The Dutchman had produced in each of his previous ten and while there’s no doubting his consistency over the season, many are now contemplating a switch as mini-leagues start to heat up with the quest for differentials becoming a key factor. With a favourable run of fixtures ahead, Van Persie’s owners will be confident of a return to form but Rooney’s kinder 11.8 FPL price tag liberates budget to be utilised elsewhere.

Antonio Valencia
Handed a start on the right in a 4-4-2, the former Wigan man disappointed yet again and was hauled off on 65 minutes. It’s a single assist in 11 appearances now for Valencia and with Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa pushing for game time, he could well return to the periphery once more. Fantasy managers have been deprived of an assured midfield asset in the United squad all season: there is little sign of that situation changing.

Brede Hangeland
Owned by more than 6% of the Fantasy Premier League player base, Hangeland has been a major disappointment so far this season: yet again he’s without a goal and, with just three clean sheets, his return have failed to live up to a pre-season billing which hailed him as a potential bargain. Tonight the Norwegian suffered his latest setback, withdrawn at half-time with a knock, rumoured to be an Achilles problem, which may now make him a doubt for Fulham’s next outing at Norwich.

Actually.. I've just come upon an idea that centres around Demel... since it looks like he's been dropped... he's gonna make it hard for us to field 11 players in GW27, even with a FT... so it looks like you'd be playing with 3-4-2 anyway...

What if I did, Demel, Gibbs & RVP > Agger, GJ & Suarez (-4), then a FT Agger > Zaba? You'd still be fielding 3-4-2, and only one hit?

if you have michu you might as well keep him but I don't think it's worth a transfer (or a hit!) for him...

first off he plays a resurgent qpr defense before a match against pool. and with the cup final a few days later (which is probably a bit deal to swansea who haven't won anything in quite a while I think...) I recon he could be rested for that game

I personally believe he is more likely to start against Everton than not, with Utd playing Real on Weds that gives him adequate time to recover and Fergie will see Eve as a tough game. Although I'm sure Fergie would see Rooney and Hernandez as enough fire power to see them off with RVP on the bench if needed.

It's the Norwich game he will be rested for IMO with less rest inbetween, if we progress I think selling RVP is a worthy option and could prove to be the difference in rankings.

    I have 2 FTs..

GW 26: RVP - Suarez (other DGW Sturridge, Davies, Michu)
GW 27: Sturridge Michu - Rooney Ben Arfa

    Making my team
    DDG - Bunn
    Zaba - Dawson - Wilson - Pearce - Davies
Bale - Mata - Walcott - Ben Arfa - Guthrie
    Rooney - Aguero - Suarez

*Heard Ben Arfa is already training and will be back in 1-2 weeks, can be back on Metalist game but more likely vs Southampton.

Or even if he's not fit I can avoid that transfer and play 4-4-2 instead.

If I have the following with a -4 hit..

    Bego
    Bertrand Davies Enrique
    Bale Theo Fella Michu
    Suarez RVP Sturridge

    Taarabt Cuellar Pearce

I've already done Ba and Aguero to Suarez n Sturridge. Getting in Enrique would involve taking a hit for Demel.

The following week I could swap one of the Liv FOR and DEF for a 4 point hit to field a 442 . Not sure if the 8 points of hits is worth it though.

Mr. Zep, we almost have identical teams, only differentials being Baines/Pog/Rudd and Martin/Lambert/Bunn 😯

I suggest this(which you were already planning):

I really hope Sissoko is the new Gylfi and not a one-hit wonder 😉

Great value at 6.0, heck even for 6.5 (If he keeps playing so far forward and getting pts)

if i swap VP for Rooney then I can upgrade Demel to Enrique for DGW, and then the week after swap Enrique to WILSON and upgrade Marv to a good Newc option (Cabaye or Sissoco)............ I then just have to hope that VP doesn't cost me every mini league I'm in 🙁

    Thoughts?

Alright lads, Accounting Midterm tmrw, then SuperBowl in the evening...

Probably won't be on until Monday during the DZ.

Good Luck tomorrow, hope Suarez stays quiet to avoid a rise before his Int. match..

    See you all then! 😀

Hey Zep are you worried about Podolski GW27

Home to Villa but only four days after they are in Munich
Could be a prime rotation threat , Arsene likes give him plenty of rest

No, I think he will get his customary 65-70 mins...

That should be enough against Villa for a hattrick and 2 assists... 😉

    Begovic
    R.Martin GJ Davies
    Walcott Gerrard(c) Fellaini P.Hernandez
    Rooney(v) Sturridge RVP

      Bunn / Begovic
      Clyne / Davies / Fabio / Pearce / Dawson
      Fellaini / Bale / Mata / Sissoko / Walcott
Van Persie / Suarez / Sturridge

0 FT, £0.2m in the bank.
