With the Fantasy Premier League community given an airing in yesterday’s article, we now turn to the Sky Sports game – Granville’s current favourite Fantasy pursuit. The Mancunian closed on my lead in the Scout League but both of us are looking up at the very top, where we herald another new leader – one we predicted just seven days ago.

The Scout League

We discussed the rise of Pascal Evans in last week’s article and, a week later, our prophecy has come true. The manager currently sitting on second in the live Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame and fifth in the Career table, has climbed to the summit of our Sky Sports league. Pascal sits on 1488 points, with a four point advantage on Simon Davies “Nags Head Rovers” in second. Paul McAnulty’s “Housewives Favourites” sit in third on 1481 points.

Pascal is ranked fifth in the overall table, some 91 points behind the leader, however, having picked up momemtum in recent weeks, we wouldn’t bet against him closing that gap to set up a close finish in the race for the 25k prize. Pascal has been here and done it before.

With seven managers in the overall top twenty, the Scout League remains on top of the private league rankings, still some 13 points ahead of our nearest rival.

In terms of the contributor standings, I’m still leading the way in 411 spot, 75th in the Scout League, but I’m now just a single point ahead of Granville, who closed with a strong score last week, thanks to an inspired Moussa Sissoko transfer.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Forces

Luis Suarez has been the most popular signing in the Sky Sports game this week: the Uruguayan has featured in over 25% of the transfers in over the past seven days, continuing his steady climb in ownership. That’s perhaps a surprise with Daniel Sturridge emerging as a force in the Liverpool frontline, although, clearly, Suarez is much fancied for the impending home matches with West Brom this Monday and Swansea a week on Sunday.

Liverpool and Swansea are, of course, the only sides to play in that particular Gameweek so fetching their assets prior to that fixture makes good sense, with Suarez likely to be a popular choice for the armband. He still sits at the very top of the value rankings for forwards in the game – offering 18.5 points per million over the season so far – Robert Snodgrass (17.9) and Rickie Lambert (17.7) trail him in second and third.

Goalkeepers continue to dominate the market trends with lots of activity surrounding the trio of Joe Hart, Asmir Begovic and Simon Mignolet. It appears that many Fantasy managers are constantly looking to change their stopper, with clean sheets the only method of scoring on offer. Hart has enjoyed the most traffic this week, acquired in over 22% of the total transfers made. Begovic and Mignolet have been fetched as part of 19% of transfers, although the Stoke keeper again suffered a loss of ownership, with more managers choosing to transfer him out over the week following his recent run of poor form.

Petr Cech was the player to suffer the most sales, however. The Chelsea keeper was an injury doubt earlier in the week having broken a finger and was shipped out as part of 27% of the transfers made this week. Cech is available for Chelsea’s meeting with Wigan this weekend, however.

Robin Van Persie, off the back of two consecutive blanks, also suffered losses this week- 23% of the transfers made saw the Dutchman cast aside, with Suarez the player most likely to profit from the switch. Jermain Defoe’s injury also saw him sold on by many of his remaining owners, while Eden Hazard still earned losses, with 19% of the transfers made this week seeing the Belgian making way. Hazard makes a return to the Chelsea fold following suspension this weekend.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

John Barnes shuffles into the Fantasy Football Club dressing room to join the squad for the rest of the season. I just wonder if we’re get a chance to see “that” goal from Rio in 1984? Barnes joins Fenners and Merse at 10pm tonight on Sky Sports one, a show that also features Alex McLeish dishing out his all-time XI based on players that he’s managed. I somehow doubt that any Forest players made it: let’s be honest, he barely had time to learn their names.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Gerrard (c) served me so well in the Double last season.

My take on Sturridge is this

Liverpool cannot say he is fully fit and training as he pulled out of England

Sterling was different as he was injured previously and missed games but sturridge played 90 mins and then pulled out.

Agree - They can't say he's fine as it would adversely affect the club's believability when it comes to future international call ups.

This is how I saw it panning out anyway so sounds ok to me

Well tbh I've never liked rep based systems - it encourages people to say banal things to seek approval and positive reinforcement. It does also discourage completely stupid or provocative comments but I'd rather watch Forca on a wind-up than watch this place turn into "Captain Gerrard ftw" seeking +1 whores.

They couldn't have just come out 2 days after the international game and said he was fine...It's all guesswork at this stage, but my money would be 70-30 that he plays. Whether he lasts the whole game is a different question and also depends on the score, etc.

If i know for sure that sturidge was not in conditions to play i would bet on suarez.
If stu. is ok, i would go to gerrard, because i think it's a safer choise, i think gerrard could get points for the clean sheet and for assists.

Would love a bit of help with this decision:

    Bego (Bunn)
    Zab Davies Demel (Harte Clyne)
    Mata Bale Walcott Michu (Punch)
    RVP Suarez Sturridge
    1FT (0.6)

    A) Bego - Reina (then Suarez - Cisse next week to have 11)
    B) Save transfer (then Suarez - Aguero next week and an extra transfer to ensure 11 starters)

    A) looks like a good transfer to get Liverpool def cover, but being able to get Aguero and having an extra FT also looks good. Which option looks best? Or any other suggestions?

Strong defense, as you can see in my blog, i think all of your defenders teams could get a clean sheet.

Chaps, what about Liverpool rotation? How seriously are they taking the Europa? Sturridge won't be playing vs Zenit, but is there anyone who will be who might therefore be rested in the PL?

I would imagine Brendan will want to create a legacy at liverpool. What better way than win a european trophy.

They will take it as a priority. Wouldn't be suprised to see their strongest side out.

Right, just had a look at the Liverpool line-ups for their last EL match and the PL matches either side of it - Gerrard rested for Europe.

        Gerrard (c) it is then!

Continued on from discussion on the Premier League best XI a few nights ago, one constant was people trying to include more wingers/forwards by including them as CM's (Mata, Bale, Rooney etc.)

Do people think there is a lack of quality CM's/DM's in the PL atm? And who do people rate as the best few in this position?

Personally, Yaya is way out in front for me. Not sure I would swap Cabaye/Tiote for any other PL CM tbh.

Yeah, I'll agree with this. Quite like the slightly deeper role Lampard and Gerrard are both taking on for their clubs at the moment too though.

Sandro was a beast until he got injured and Dembele has looked solid this season but I wouldn't say he's an out and out CDM. Ramires & Wilshere up there as quality CMs but I wouldn't say either is world class at the moment.

Yep Lamps and Gerrard still shining despite their age.

Though part of this hints at a lack of quality in their position elsewhere, as well as their own skill.

Wilshere still a long way away from the top level imo, has potential but he's not in the same league as Xavi, Schweinsteiger or Toure.

I reckon Yaya's been out of form this season.

CMs I've been most impressed by this season are Wilshere, Dembele, clearly Gerrard even I'd he's ageing, also Jonathan De Guzman who's great technically and very versatile.

I'm captains Suarez based purely on stats.

His is better than Gerard's. don't necessarily disagree with you just got a higher percentage chance of Suarez scoring that you do Gerard.

      Gotta play the numbers.

Right you are. Though just for a second thought.
Gerrard - a set piece taker, takes penalties, corners.
Suarez - A definite goal threat.

But Suarez is out of position and plays to the left of Sturridge. That's what my concern is.

Appearance is everything, whiter than white n'all that.

I think he'll play both, mostly based on Facer's assessment and the fact that he played out the 90 mins vs City.

          But I'm leaning towards Gerrard(c)
