We wondered if West Ham could stop Gareth Bale – with just minutes left on the clock, Tottenham’s mercurial talent provided the emphatic answer. A majestic strike won a frantic London derby at Upton Park, lifting Bale well into the realms of “essential” status in Fantasy terms. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday’s events…

On the Up

Gareth Bale
We’re running short on superlatives. Bale’s performance was again, incredible. Pace, power and menace throughout, capped with a winning goal that was simply sublime. Two goals tonight took him to six in his last four league matches as his form just remains unshakable and unstoppable. Having seen a 0.3 increase prior to this Gameweek, another huge rise in ownership looks inevitable.

Michael Dawson
An eighth successive league start for Dawson surely underlines his importance to the Spurs defence. While Andre Villas-Boas continues to rotate two spots in his back four, Dawson and Kyle Walker look assured of starts and, with a 4.6 price tag, Dawson looks a worthy acquisition. Sadly however, as we featured in this week’s “Frisking”, the schedule is very much against Spurs, in defensive terms at least.

Jussi Jaaskelainen
West Ham’s stopper was unfortunate to be on the losing side having put in an incredible shift between the sticks. With 10 saves to his name, Jaaskelainen was inspired but was finally beaten by Bale’s moment of brilliance.

Guy Demel
Back in the starting lineup, Fantasy managers will be thankful for his return with starters and points at a premium in the Gameweek. Having been replaced on 71 minutes, it’s unclear whether Demel’s selection at right-back was partly to help counter the threat of Bale. With Emmanuel Pogatetz and fit again George McCartney both contenders to return to left-back, Joey O’Brien could shift to the right once again come the Gameweek 28 trip to Stoke.

Going Down

Kevin Nolan
There had been recent signs that Nolan was returning as a force, particularly with Andy Carroll fit and back leading the line. Forced off with an injury on 35 minutes, however, Nolan’s night came to a premature end as his season continues to stutter following an encouraging opening to the campaign.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So who are ditching Rvp and are sticking with it?

I am having a feeling that without Rvp going with the team for the rest of the season will give greater points than sticking with him,

I can sense Aguero,Suarez and Lambert/Lukaku Frontline will be a huge success in the coming weeks.

My dilemma is that should i go for 3-5-2 or 3-4-3.. ??

    If i go for 3-5-2

    Mata Bale Walcott Sissoko Michu

Aguero Suarez [Lambert] (If i stick with RVP) then RVP Suarez [Lambert]

    If i go for 3-4-3,

    Mata Bale Walcott Michu

    Aguero Suarez Lambert

So going for 3-5-2, gives me without a cheap striker [Lambert/Lukaku] but will give me Sissoko. While going for 3-4-3, i will get the front 3 without Sissoko.

So it all depeneds upon the choice for Sissoko or 3 front line.

Which one should give greater points in coming weeks.. ?

That will give me without Suarez and Aguero.. 😀 Full to risk if gone with Double LSSSS

I want to give him a one last chance against Villa. Could be a great differential there,if he scores a goal 🙂

Rvp price will drop in 2 weeks, so you have to think about the price also.

double blank for RVP really, now is the time to cash in i feel.

concerned that i wouldnt be able to bring him back in for the rest of the season seeing as i'll lose 0.6 on him though.

be nice to know if utd will go through in the CL, if they do he'll be saved for that.

      hmm.

I can see Madrid going through the CL. It will be a pain in the arse if i ditch RVP and he gets the points for the 2-3 coming weeks.. Will have to take a -4 point hit if he does that.. also the price also to consider. 🙁

        It's decision time now.

Play 3-4-3 and if RVP doesn't start your covered with a strong midpark.

Who said taking hits are a waste of points? I have taken 7 (calculated) hits this season here are the results!

    GW3 - Torres/Lampard > RVP/Kacanikolic - Result = Net +11pts (plus i (C) RVP 15pts)
    GW6 - Zabaletta/Tevez > Jelavic/Baines - Result = Net + 11pts
    GW15 - Baines/Jelly/Hazard > Enrique/Bale/Suarez - Result = -4pts
    GW16 - Bale/Noble > McAnuff/Fellaini - Result = - 6pts
    GW23 - Hazard/Berbatov>Podolski/Walcott - Result = +25 pts (plus (C) Walcott
    GW26 - Gibbs/Podolski/Nolan>Sterling/Enrique/Gerrard - Result = +31 pts
    GW27- Davies/Gerrard>Wilson/Bale = +12pts

Realized that most of my hits were to either to "get in" or "get out" of DGW. It has been pretty fruitful.

Need your opinion on this quick:

If City game is ON GW29:
RVP+Pod ➡ Aguero+Suarez(-4) (can get RVP back for free)

      If City game is OFF
      A) Pod+Schneiderlin ➡ Sturridge+Sissoko (-4) (bench RVP)
      B) Pod ➡ Suarez (play RVP)

What do you think? Which would you choose if City game is OFF?

    Help please:

    Mignolet Vorm
    Evans Cameron O'Brien Davies Harte
    Cazorla Walcott Bale Fellaini Michu
    RVP Sturridge Pogrebnyak

So, I think I'll ignore the Pogrebnyak & gw29 issues for now, and instead who should I bring in?

    A) Sissoko
    B) Mata
    C) Lambert
    D) some combination of these

    And who to drop?

Everybody was saying that this was the worst week ever.

For me, however, it was officially the best ever. 75 points with a GW rank of 41.5K.

    REPOST OF CF:

    Hey DZ

Was talking with Snake Juice and Acquafresca. There seems to be some interest in a Fantasy MLS league. GW1 begins March 3.

If you are interested in joining, the codes are:

    Classic Code 6580-1914
H2H code 6580-1917 (36 players max with top 8 qualifying for knock out rounds in last 3 GW’s )

When you register, please use your FFS profile name.

Should be fun (i did it last year). In the absence of international tournaments this year, it will give us our fantasy football fix for the summer months.

All games can be watched by streaming from the “usual” sites.

Hope you all join….feel free to pass it along to the FFS community.

        You tell me:
If I do giroud to Suarez like I plan to, then I have the fab five plus aguero Suarez and cisse...
I can NOT do that transfer, have a boring Hughes to Wilson transfer, then bench giroud.
        What say you?

he should be. strange they call him jhon kennedy and not hurtado...

was nailed on last year. didn't get to see any pre-season but my friend said he thought some of our new defenders looked better than him. we recently signed traore too. but I recon he should maintain his starting spot as he's established himself over recent years and will have a better understanding with gspurning and the other defenders and has been very solid for us.

Team currently, bring on the selection headache:

    Begovic, Cerny
    Rafael, Zabaleta, Enrique, Davies, Wilson
    Fellaini, Michu, Bale, Walcott, Mata
    VP, Sturridge, Lambert

So head says bench Sturridge this week although VP being rested may take care of that.

Bit worried about no Suarez cover, so people think he's 'must have' or Sturridge enough to hold off?

So most of you are getting in Suarez, and not Sturridge?

Still feels difficult to decide which one is the better option as they have played very few games together so far.

We all know what Suarez can do.

And have Sturridge only been lucky getting all the attacking returns since he arrived, or will he continue to deliver as well as Suarez when both are fielded?
