This season I’ve taken pride in my powers of recovery. The ability to bounce back from a Gameweek of misery with a plucky display seven days later. The upper lip has remained stiff on my face of adversity.

Right now, it’s quivering with my chin scraping the floorboards of my two-up, two-down grief pit.

Motivated by the need for differentials to help claw back a mini-league deficit, I chose to cuddle up to Dimitar Berbatov and Fernando Torres, despite knowing all too well that the allure of Robin Van Persie and Carlos Tevez was beautifully placed to return bigger profits.

Their Scout Pick selection spelled it out to me – bringing them in made perfect sense. But in the context of my mini-league, there was another perspective; spending points to match my rivals’ team took the shine off the obvious route to success.

By four o’clock the true horror of that decision was apparent. Once again I paid the price for being clever – for ignoring the big picture, for turning my back on the bleedin’ obvious.

This pain is not all self-inflicted this time – I can at least proportion some blame to good old-fashioned bad luck.

With Rafael Van der Vaart as captain, my returns could have been handsome. If only he’d converted his second spot-kick, or indeed had Mark Clattenburg handed Spurs a third. While Van der Vaart clogged his penalty re-take to punish my points tally, Tevez, sporting the armband from my rivals, gorged on a brace of spot-kicks to earn a hat-trick. Agony – absolute agony.

Adding further insult, and extinguishing any hopes of a second-half revival, Van der Vaart failed to appear for the second-half. A calf injury apparently. He couldn’t have been hurting as much as me. Van der Vaart might be fit for Gameweek 27 – I’m not sure I will be.

So there you have it – enjoy Match of the Day. There were lots of goals apparently.

As for me, I’ll give Arsene a call. Arsene and me. In the pub, in the corner. I’m drowning it all in the local brew; he’s got his large glass of red. Don’t you dare tell us to cheer up.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

VDV should be out of our team and give that damn slot to any other player at his current pricetag, i can see plenty but with cahill not involved much in a 5 goal massacare... who else wud u guys get?

    8 min to decide
    on a leap of faith

    Stockdale to Szczeny
    Djourou to Huth
    Pantsil to Kolarov
    4 point hit
    0.0 money remaining

    Would leave me with
    Szczeny - (Hart)
    Kolarov - Rafael - Huth - (Coleman) - (Murphy)
    Nani - Fabs - Ferguson - Adam - (VdV)
Tevez - Van Persie - Berbatov

    0.0 banked

    Very tempting

Brunt is doing what he has to do - nobody on the end putting them in though - he could easily be well into the points if West Brom could find the net. Think he may come true in the double.

With Saha now playing as the striker at Everton, I don't think Tim Cahill will be as good an FPL prospect as before the Asian Cup.

Still might get him in though.

am i right in saying that i could make transfers from now...take the hits and play my wildcard the last day and all the hits will go away? So it might say 32transfers made on my bottom right and then I play my wildcard next friday night...i don't lose any points. Right?

The good part about joining bandwagons late is losing less profit. Would only lose 0.4 on VDV so that's a better reason to sell as he could drop that much anyway for GW29 if no GW28 game.

I didn't join his original bandwagon straight away but when he was injured in December I got him back as soon as it was reported he was back from injury.

Bought at 8.2 and now he's 9.1m so I'd lose 0.5m if I wanted him back again (which I no doubt will). He'd probably drop a bit though, I think I'll do it but I'll wait until Fri/Sat

    Gordon (Al-Habsi)
    Kelly Coleman Djourou (Rafael, Pantsil)
    Adam (Nani) Cahill Fabs(C) Bentley
    RvP Odem (Tevez)

I don't have a clue why he went off, but he should be nailed down now, even when Vermaelen comes back.

He got subbed, Arsenal conceded 4. Arsene will surely favour him ahead of Koscielny and Squillaci.

      Knee injury. No prognosis though.

The ref/officials didn't need to file any 'extraordinary report' on Fabregas. Why go through all the red tape? Just give your buddy a call who's reffing their next game... 😉

Knee injury and CL means i don't think he'll play both in the DGW, so I moved him for Huth.

9.8 in the bank for a midfielder if I get rid of VdV. Already have Cahill..

Not many options imo, Lennon, Ethers or Nolan maybe?

Lads who do we think is better option for transferring in this GW: Huth or R.J.?

I know R.J. has better fixtures in the double GW but they miss GW 28 and Huth is such a goal threat this days, 6 goals and 3 assists WOW. Plus his fixtures after the double are good.

    Opinion please,

    Bench Vdv and play Vaughan

I wouldn't buy Nolan for a hit and I'm a toon fan. Better options in price bracket.
Nolan is prob the most likely to score, but despite todays result, I can see us going downhill now (hope I'm wrong!)

Still have wildcard, with the following squad:

    Foster (Stockdale)
    Djourou, Huth, Coleman (Kelly, Hangeland)
Nani, Adam, Dempsey, Walcott (Yaya Toure)
    Berbatov, Tevez (C), VP

Any suggestions? I have 1.9 in the bank. Want to ship Stockdale out, and I'm really not all that happy with Yaya Toure. Was gonna ship out Dempsey, but he's put in solid performances recently and I only paid 6.7 for him.

Hi guys I'm new to this site so I'm sorry if I'm asking this in the wrong place.

This is my team for next:
    Foster
    Vidic, Djourou, Simpson
    Walcott, VDV, Barton, Adam
    Van Persie (C), Tevez, Berbatov

    Bench: Nani, Luiz, Foley, Al-Habsi

I've got 2 free transfers I could make if I wanted to, should I make any changes?

    Cheers!

Knew's on Djourou's injury could be important, if he has picked up a knock possibly another arsenal deffender? Or a punt at a west brom one good fixtures.

Looks good all round really though.
