The eighth gameweek of the season is brought to a close tonight at Ewood Park, as Blackburn Rovers host Sunderland.

The visitors are bolstered by the availability of their star striker Darren Bent, and out-of-position fantasy favourite Ahmed Elmohamady also starts to the relief of many. Elsewhere, there is only one change from the side that held Manchester United before the international break, as Danny Welbeck comes in for Boudewijn Zenden after not being eligible against his parent club.

The home side make two changes from their previous league outing at the Britannia Stadium, with Martin Olsson and Nikola Kalinic replacing Ryan Nelson and Mame Biram Diouf.

Blackburn XI: Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Givet, Olsson, Nzonzi, Jones, Emerton, Pedersen, El-Hadji Diouf, Kalinic

Sunderland XI: Mignolet, Onuoha, Turner, Bramble, Bardsley, Malbranque, Cattermole, Elmohamady, Henderson, Welbeck, Bent

    MEMBERS V NON MEMBERS
    GOOD V EVIL
    RIGHT V WRONG

Well we stand once again upon a battlefield, those of us with Samba the traitor, bloodied yet unbowed. All in all it was an improvement for both sides over last weeks poor showing. The brave and noble Members had to turn the irresistible tide of barbarian non-members who had claimed three wins on the trot, with men such as the honourable Hodge with his Wii Not Fit scoring a dashing 71 points things were looking good, but alas a berserker creature of horrid dimensions called Multiple Scoregasms battered down the gates with a resounding 83. Overall the cumulative scores are as follows

    .................drum roll.............

    MEMBERS 979 V 970 NON MEMBERS

Hurrah let today be a bank holiday and tell your grandchildren that this, was their finest hour. A comeback of near epic proportions releases the mounting pressure on the Member's lead, this result means that overall the scores are

    MEMBERS 7849 V 7823 NON MEMBERS

This increases the lead marginally to a mere 26 points. Still uncomfortably close for my liking, but fear not! My wildcard team will be 100 points per week easy 😉
Thanks all for playing, as usual this will be posted in the league forum and tomorrow lunchtime and early evening.

It's not the same now. All this money from foreign owners is really starting to have an effect. Man U and Liverpool just can't cope with the big spenders now.

Just pointing out it's wise to have faith in Fergie, possibly the greatest british manager of all time. Actually the sooner City win the league the better as the Arabs will get bored soon aftrer, pull their money out and they'll be financially ruined. *hopes*

Too much negativity. Whichever way you look at it we we're a draw away from winning the league last year. This season has just started and United haven't lost a game yet. OK it might not be the free flowing football and solid defence we're used to but come on, have a little faith, nothing is decided in October.

1 pt and 20+ goals behinds last year, i know statistcally putting it down it doesn't look bad and it wasn't that bad last year either but this year just the symptoms that the team is showing( losing 2 goal leads 4/5 times just like that) it's not looking al that rosey rite now. But there's hope of winning a cup atleast but not the league this year.

It will be interesting to see who Fergie brings in in the summer. For the last couple of years he's said he's happy with the team but I think the fans will expect a big money player at the end of the season. It's not going to look good for Man U if it doesn't happen. Once the old timers have retired, the need for new players will be even more obvious.

Our team looks a lot better than when we had DJ DJ, Alan Smith and Kleberson fouling up the midfield. That then evolved into the 433 wonder team of 2007/2008. Don't sweat it, a new team will come good, it'll just take a few years again to get there.

No one new about Ronaldo when he signed, and it took him 2-3 seasons to find his best form. Remember people were howling about selling beckham?

He wasn't fit, and he had an ankle knock over the last week. He's raw but looks exciting when i've seen him play, ludicrously quick and has good balance running with the ball. Ronaldo, he is not though.

They did attempt to get Sneijder in the summer but he chose to stay at Inter, not realising who his new manager was about to be. I think we will miss Valencia more than anyone imagines, he was vital last year.

Problem is Berbatov though if that happens. I'd play 433 with Cleverley and Nani out wide, Hernandez through the middle and Wesley S, Fletch and Carrick/Anderson/Hargreaves in midfield.

Citehs future is the next 2 years because if you don't win anything in that period you're back to a level playing field with the rest of us. Once the UEFA Financial Fair Play Rules kicks in 2012 your club will have to drastically reduces its wages in line with it's earnings.
Try offloading 170k/week Adebayor dead weight to another club and see where you get, he doesn't get out of bed for less than £150k.

This is UEFA who are no friends of the Premier League. Breaching the UEFA rules would mean that clubs would not be granted a UEFA licence to compete in their competitions and looking at the figures, Citeh would need to quarter their wage bill to pass the test and that's without transfer fees.

There is a great article written by Daniel Geey an expert in sports law and advises entities wishing to invest in the football industry. It was written from the viewpoint of Liverpool and how it would affect their club.

United shouldn't be affected. Debt may be a four-letter word for UEFA, but apparently loss is an even worse one, as the break-even requirement is described as the cornerstone of the new regulations.

I've just phoned the whole lot of 'em and said I want them in 9.00am tomorrow morning, gonna let rip with the hairdryer treatment. 🙂

indeed. with correct officiating tevez would have 2 points and piquionne 6-9. replays from several angles have shown this, it's not just opinion.

What was amazing about the Piquionne call was that the ref had no view at all. Piquionne's reaction to the goal did make him look guilty though. Unless I recall it wrongly, he looked across at the ref and didn't instantly go mad at having scored.

the ref's view was non existent so he should have asked the linesman. to be fair after slow mo replays from 2 angles we can see it was chest not arm. just wish the ref gave the benefit of the doubt

Cheers for replying Evasivo. lol at the advice. I got in Coleman last night for Konchesky! Didn't want to miss out on him in case of a likely prise rise... and sorry forgot to mention I only have 0.7 in the back now after the Coleman transfer. Just can't see any way of doing it without either taking an unacceptable points loss of transferring a striker out. If you were me, would your rather have Fabs for Malouda and a 7.9 or less striker for Berba - or... well I don't know what else.

Scored the 6 for the defender tonight and still went back 600 on yesterday just shows that I think some of the people in top 5k don't change there teams and save this headache they probably had Drogba as captain that's gone to Tevez/Nani.

Might have to bring in A.Cole for Malouda....with the money I can get in VDV Kolarov and Tevez. No doubt Malouda is a good fpl investment, but I think Cole will match him.

not sure i can see malouda being rested tommorow. ramires is injured, and apparently ancelotti is seriously considering cashley and essien due to the plastic pitch*. if those 2 are rested zhirkov may be needed left back so there would be a shortage of replacement midfielders meaning malouda will pretty much have to play.

*apparently cashley has had an ankle problem for years which he manages and will have for the rest of his career, but still could be a problem on a plastic pitch

maceahran is looking pretty tasty if you ask me. trying to work out chelsea's team, they are seriosly short of players. without dorgba and ramires i can't see how they can afford to rest essien and cashley. if so they'd have to play ferreira lb, and play kakuta or maceachran with mikel and zhirkov in the middle. by default their front 2 is malouda, anelka and kalou. can't think who else they have

          maceachran, mikel, zhirkhov,

          Kalou, Anelka, Kakuta

          won't be that bad.

            ivanovic bruma terry ferreira
            mikel zhirkov

great goin forward but not solid enuf defensively, ivanovic is much better at that role and even had attacking returns last season, I'm pretty sure Ivanovic is still the first choice for right bak but with all the injuries and rotation ppl are getting the wrong idea about this i think.

i said the same thing about coleman and he has thrown that back in my face, albeit aided by injuries since my comments. people seem to be using bosingwa's heroics 2 seasons ago as the reason he will play every game. too much has happened since then imo, all of which has gone against bosingwa, and gone for ivanovic.

Blah blah... sorry had to write something else. Duplicate comment.

When I played my WC a few weeks back, I went down 0.5. Back up to 104.8 now though.

yeah...you're selling players that had made a profit but you only get half the profit

Cool that's what I thought, hopefully I've sold high and bought low and all that.

Yes because you sold some players who had risen in value since day 1 but you only got a %'age of their total value. Hope that makes sense.

Yep it does, rather like Randolph and Mortimer the Duke Brothers from Trading Places - the FPL must take their imaginary commission. Feck knows why.

Paul Robinson is god. His 3 BPs tonight got me thru to the next round of the FFS cup by one point (i think!). I got 76 and the other fella 75. Sometime the bar eats you...

i didnt see the game - was he THAT good?

He made a really good save from a one on one with Bent.
He's one of those keepers that will be very good but at a lower team. Sort of like Ben Foster me thinks.

I think it was a bit of a lazy punt by the Bap judges - "oh look Blackburn were down to 10 men early and it still ended 0-0, their goalie must be the man of the match". He did make one or two good saves but hardly deserving of 3 BP

Not as criminal as N'Zogbia getting 3 bonus points against Wolves last week.

I did enjoy that mind you.
