Anyone here run long distance? Im doing the Manchester 10k on the 26th of May but as of yet haven't done much cardio training. I go to the gym 5 times a week currently but that is pure strength/muscle building and ran a half marathon a couple of years ago so not out of shape and I know I could complete it without training. However have I left it too late to turn out with a strong time if I start training this week, and what is a decent time for that distance?

Used to do lots of long distance, I would suggest getting the distance in your legs a couple of times so u understand pace, just do light stuff the week prior to race. Hard to say what good time is for individual, if you aim or sub hour it's good starting point, but don't know course

With running its all relative. For me anything under 45 mins is solid. There are people out there who do it a lot quicker and a lot slower. Depends on your fitness, weight etc.

I did one a few years back and with only a few goes out (like 3k prob max) I managed 52minutes and was pretty pleased. The last K was really hard.
If you have done marathons before and you are actually fit [i wasnt really and was smoking a pack a day at the time), you should try to get way better than that.
Aim for 45m.
If you really want to brag, go out a few times hard and aim for 40m.
