Reports in the Daily Mail have stated that Tim Cahill is a “major” doubt for Everton’s Goodison clash with Sunderland this weekend. The Aussie midfielder was withdrawn on 70 minutes of Sunday’s FA Cup victory at Stamford Bridge after aggravating the injury and, according to the report, David Moyes will now need to assess his availability going into Saturday’s game.

Cahill picked the ankle injury whilst on international duty with the Socceroos in the Asia Cup in Qatar. The knock was one of several suffered by Cahill during the tournament, although he overcame all of his niggles to play his part for the Aussies. It could be that the rigours of the Socceroos schedule are now being felt, casting doubt over his involvement in Everton’s forthcoming favourable run of fixtures.

This is far from ideal for Fantasy Managers; Cahill was firmly in our thoughts for gameweek 29 given that Everton face a double fixture against Newcastle and Birmingham. With Sunderland at Goodison this weekend, many would have been contemplating an early move for Cahill in advance of the double gameweek.

Cahill’s 9 goals and 4 assists have played a vital part in a disappointing season for the Toffees and although the Aussie has not scored in his last five appearances, he will surely be a key figure over Everton’s run of four home matches in the next five.

For now, Cahill remains on our watchlists; Fantasy Managers can only wait for official confirmation of the injury from the club itself and monitor noises coming from Goodison as we approach the weekend. We will of course keep you posted via our Tweets and Team News.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

yeah i got Cahill last week in order to get a jump on others when Cahill made his goal scoring return to the Toffess line up but it hasnt worked out like that especially if he is going to miss soem games now.

Im not sure who i would replace him with now; maybe Silva for City..??

hey Mark, are you going to let people know that O'Hara is ineligble for Wolves game against Tottenham due to the fact he is aa loanee of Spurs..???..just that you did big up O'Hara in a previous cup review...???

He could but what's the point? Anyone getting him will be doing it as a cheap 5th midfielder and potentially strong bench option.

Even he WAS eligible for the Spurs game, you would almost certainly be benching him for that game anyway. It's their hardest game in the next 6.

perspective here...people are struggling to get 11 players on the pitch; he may be a 5th option but when you are struggling to get a full team together then it warrents mention i believe. Wolves have two home game sin aa row and there lies the attraction. If i was going to pick a Wolves player to fill my team out iw ould certainly like to know something that would not allow one of their players to not play one of those home games...

It's something we missed in our Scout Notes so thanks for pointing that out. It doesn't warrant a retrospective article and O'Hara isn't figuring on our Watchlist so it can't be picked up there. We will include it the next time we cover O'Hara and, of course, it will be indicated in Injuries & Bans and Team News going into GW29.

Just logged on and this is rubbish news but my own fault. Already transferred cahill in this week as I had a 'masterplan' and couldn't afford a price rise. Now my plan's changed anyway with VDV being injured and will change even further if adam gets booked.

Note to self - Early transfers rarely pay off! 🙁

well, maybe he is out for only the next game; is he still worth holding onto then or is it more important to get 11 player sout on the pitch this week..?

I would stick with it now you have him, I am. As long as adam doesn't get booked tonight I'll be able to put 11 out so fingers crossed. At end of the day cahill might still play this weekend but I certainly wouldn't have brought him in given this news if I hadn't already done so.

      for sure i am.

Might get torres in for tevez in gw 32.
However i'm a bit concerned about him getting saubstituted early by ancelotti, for his lacklustre performances so far. Hopefully by gw 32, he will of scored some goals and be the main striker for chelsea.

      Lol.

Torres is the eternal FPL boomerang. Everyone casts him out but then brings him back in again. How many times must he disappoint before we give up on him. He's a liability.

If I was going Chelsea in light of their favourable fixtures I think I would just shell out the cash for Drogs or Lamps.

Yeah torres has looked awful first two games but he'll have had nearyl two weeks off by time man utd game and he always seems to play well against them and then they have blackpool the following week. I def think I'll bring him in for then just a case of whether I bring him in this week instead of odem, or bring rooney in instead for double then swap him for torres week after give they're same price. This would involve a hit though as will def be bringing an arsenal player back in next week too. Thoughts?!

Moyes' prematch conferences are usually dominated by his constant bemoaning of the squad's relentless and ever present injuries. He might leave a little time to talk about their meagre transfer funds but that's about it.

I am on the same boat as you, I have dodged Berbs all season because of his rotation risk and the fact that he seems to score in spurts. However I still haven't forgotten his mammoth points haul in his last DGW.

He works better with Cahill yes.

But when he fired in that peach of a free-kick against Chelsea in the FA Cup recently, Cahill was already off the pitch for nearly an hour.

With the potential for a clean sheet or two (very small potential, it is Everton), asissts or goals from his crosses and set pieces, he's still worth consideration.

If he isn't in the scout picks for GW29 I'll eat my computer screen.

I brought Young in on WC and instantly regretted it not being Cahill following Young's 1 point last GW, now I am happy again! Swings and rounabouts in this game are horrific!

Since you asked, here it is!

I don't like Everton because I don't like or rate any of their players, except possibly Baines. I don't have anything against their fans and I think David Moyes is an excellent manager. It seems to be a nice club overall.

What bugs me about it is that everybody seems to love those players I don't like or rate. They're measured with completely different methods than any other club. When Birmingham do what Everton do it's shit football and boring tactics, but when Everton do it and are saved by a single good action form Baines they were great and deserved more.

I will be less vocal about Everton from now on though, seems I've insulted people with my talk about them and that was never my intention.

It was a hilarious discussion to be honest, classic stuff.

One newspaper in Sweden that always grade players 1-5 after each match gave Hysén a 6 in that match and that has never happened again before or after.

He's a completely hilarious commentator too. He knows NOTHING about the game and aways picks a central defender as his MOTM and is generally stupid, but it's great fun to listen to. I love Glenn Hysén. I really do.

I remember reading a Gazzetta dela Sport and looking at the match ratings. Not one player got more than 7 out of all the divisions. Even if you score a hattrick, just a 7.

If Adam gets booked tonight you would be down to 2 midfielders so i'd wait for that game first (I'm in the same boat).
