Theo Walcott is quick off the mark as Arsenal climb back into third after a narrow 1-0 win at Loftus Road. Another resilient Gunners rearguard display keeps Harry Redknapp’s side rooted to the bottom, after Reading climbed above the R’s earlier this afternoon:

On the Up

Theo Walcott
We retained the Gunners winger in this week’s Scout Picks and he justified our faith once again. Last week, Walcott needed two minutes to open the scoring against United – this time round, all of 24 seconds were required as he helped steer the visitors to a crucial away win. With Michu owners looking for a replacement after today’s hamstring withdrawal, Walcott – with a mere 10% ownership in Fantasy Premier League – is sure to earn new investors ahead of his upcoming home clash with Wigan.

Arsenal Defence
While Arsene Wenger’s side produced a single goal for the third successive Gameweek, their defence once again came up trumps at Loftus Road this evening. Arsenal have now conceded just one goal in their last four and with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny now firmly established as the first-choice central defence pairing, they have racked up a total of 13 clean sheets this term.

Going Down

Kieran Gibbs
Having edged ahead of Nacho Monreal in the left-back pecking order, Gibbs was ruled out of this evening’s encounter after picking up a thigh problem. Certainly, with the Gunners game against Wigan 10 days away, Gibbs may well be recovered in time but would-be suitors will now stay well clear, with Bacary Sagna offering a cheaper, more secure route into Wenger’s backline.

Lukas Podolski
Handed the chance to lead the line as a result of Olivier Giroud’s suspension, the German has failed to impress. While Giroud is still banned for next week’s match with the Latics, Podolski could be given one last chance before dropping back to the bench but with Walcott again producing, Wenger may decide to hand the latter his opportunity in the central role before Giroud returns in Gameweek 38.

Adel Taarabt
Earlier this week, Harry Redknapp had spoken of planning for next season after seeing his side’s relegation confirmed last Sunday. With Bobby Zamora back from suspension, the R’s boss opted for a 4-4-2 and with on loan Andros Townsend recovering from a hamstring injury, the Moroccan failed to make the starting XI, with his time at Loftus Road under Redknapp looking more than questionable.

I'm 0.2 short of Michu -> Walcott. What transfer(s) should I do to fund it?
    Team:

    Hart, Bunn

    Dawson, Luiz, Sagna, Enrique, Davies

    Bale, Mata, Michu, Maloney, Sissoko

    Tevez, RVP, Kone

Michu ➡ Coutinho. That seems to be the second most popular choice after Walcott.

    Begovic, Jaaskelainen
    Baines, Vertonghen, Zabaleta, Turner, Clyne
    Mata, Bale, Hazard, Fellaini, Walcott
    Kone, Lukaku, Tevez

Is it worth taking a hit in these closing stages of the season?
If so, does Mata/Hazard ➡ Coutinho, and Lukaku ➡ Sturridge sound good for a -4?

swansea shut out city yesterday and they have been good defensively as well. so it surely won't be a goalfest. and sturridge has more points potential than RVP in the the next 2 games. that's what i'm thinking.

Jafa, what do you think of our team post WC? We're doing fairly well.

    Robles, McCarthy
    Dawson, Boyce, Rangel, Demel, Morrison
    Bale, Walcot, Nasri, Michu, Maloney
    RVP, Tevez, Lukaku

Obviously I didn't expect to see a Tevez, Lukaku, Nasri, Michu fail. Was a good team yesterday though 🙂

Yeah Robles was the DGW option with the idea DDG might be up for some end of season rotation. Obviously Michu and Lukaku don't looks so good now but they were all the rage yesterday. Might have to make a trade there. Any ideas?

What about Michu/Lukaku for Mata/Kone? Might have to wait and see what the RVP situation is first because he'll free up funds.

                  If he plays...

We only need to remove one player as we are going to have to bench a decent mid/fwd. Might have to do Lukaka->Studge.

no :(. should've captained walcott and played marv (part of a 4pt hit to get walcott) but i ended up not listening to my own advice.

my point was that michu's returns have significantly dropped off whereas walcott has done quite well

Re Rvp... I have a sneaky feeling he may start all three remaining games. He can play with Hernandez and wellbeck .. Rooney's now a mid. I also think why rest him? There's no champs league of fa cup final. Like Walcott this week I see some very unhappy Rvp dumpers on the horizon.

For sure he'll start against Chelsea, but I don't see how starting him the other two games will "keep him happy" First PL winners medal of his career plus the golden boot, he's happy enough.

Time to put his feet up and let the rest have a turn.

RVP imo is the kinda player that wants to play in every game and score in every game. Fergie wants him and the team to do well. This is all just a hunch mind you... Maybe it's the fact that i want him to play.

Still high. Dzeko is out of favour. Tevez and aguero still the club's best attacking combo. Platt had said fringe players may get a chance but they are mainly in mid and defence . Tevez is very fit as well.

MF is Bale, Walcott, Mata, Michu, Puncheon

Could go cheap and play 4 DEFs as I have strong DEF

    Thoughts? Thanks

Yeah, I'm not bothered bout Fellaini either. Already have there City players so i have to look elsewhere. Utd rotate, Dempsey is really left field as a pick. Maybe it's coutinho then for me. Don't really wanna take a hit as in transferring both Coutinho and Sturridge in...
