Rooney hysteria is in full effect following this afternoon’s press conference from Alex Ferguson in which he confirmed that the striker wants out of Old Trafford. Ferguson revealed that he was left “dumbfounded” by the player’s intent to leave the club and went on to lay the situation bare for press and fans alike. You can read a comprehensive transcript of the conference on United’s official site.

For Fantasy Managers it’s another twist in a season which has already many of the so-called heavy hitters stall and disappoint. While Rooney has struggled to find a semblance of last season’s devastating form, the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard have all failed to ignite, hampered by injuries and remnants of World Cup hangovers.

The situation with Rooney may change and he may yet prove to be an asset before his time at United comes to an end. Right now however, that seems unlikely. There is clearly tension between player and manager and Rooney’s displays to this point are a world away from last season’s showings.

Ferguson has stressed that the door of negotiation remains open, but in reality it appears that United will look to offload Rooney in January before his value diminishes. Just what he can produce in their colours up to that point is up for debate, there are already unfounded reports that Ferguson will leave Rooney out of his side from this point on.

In Fantasy terms he certainly looks set to remain an outcast. In a season where Didier Drogba and Carlos Tevez have stepped up and maintained their strong return rate, Rooney will surely remain on the periphery of our thinking. In many ways Fantasy Managers will be looking for his form to remain dipped in order to allow the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and perhaps even Javier Hernandez further opportunity to flourish.

To compound matters, Ferguson also confirmed that Rooney will not take any part in United’s Champions League tie with Bursaspor on Wednesday after being stretchered off with an ankle injury in training today. That setback, coupled with today’s revelations surely puts Rooney down as a major doubt to start at the Britannia this weekend. The Berbatov/Hernandez partnership could well be in force again then. It will be interesting to see just how today’s developments affect United as a club and in turn, whether this casts a huge cloud over their title credentials and their value as a source of Fantasy talent.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A little moan:
When playing your wildcard you should have the opportunity to put in and out players to rejig at the original prices that the players are at when you play the WC until the next gameweek starts. I took out Malouda and he is suddenly will cost me 10.4 again to put back in, that seems like Duke and Duke style unnecessary nastiness, what a load of arsecakes.

It was basically because I had been solidly backsliding for the last three gameweeks - largely because of Tevez. I can't ignore someone that poxy scoring that many goals without playing well. Plus my defence was (Elmo aside) producing absolutely nothing, so this one is a small step forward.

Top reaction from Jose when just grilled about Roon. Clearly he would want him but I genuinely believe he really likes SAF, Roon and United. Probably thinking about his next move himself too and would rather Roon there.

I initially tried to start with a similar idea of having two groups of teams that rotated well but soon found out it isn't possible over the whole season as at different points of the season some teams have to play consecutive home or away fixtures so it doesn't quite add up.

But I didn't think of doing it for the short term. Its a good way of pinpointing a troublesome gameweek in the future like your going to have in GW11! Thats why in the end I settled on doing a home/away rotations value as they didn't fit into exact groups.

Being shorter term, it's more suited to defenders than keepers. No one wants to change a keeper pairing every 4 weeks.

Samba > Coleman this week is tempting me a lot now.

The extra funds will really help me.

Starting to regret those 0.1s I've lost.

0.2 would make my transfers really simple.

Aiming at the moment for my team GW10 to be:

    Foster, Krul

    A. Cole, Elmohamady, Alcaraz, Coleman, Jara

Fabregas, Nani, Van Der Vaart, Nasri, Boa Morte

    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

As a Newcastle fan Camzy I would not be overly mad on Carroll at the moment. His off the field antics will probably have a knock on effect, plus it remains to be seen whether Hughton will persist with the horrid 4-4-2, if he does Carroll will no longer be the focus of every attack and his returns will be diminished. Ameobi has done well and deserves a crack.
I've gone for Boa Morte for my cheapie too in the idea that West Ham's good fixtures may do well for him.

Tasty looking team there Camz. Wait though. Question mark over Carroll. Boa Morte? Might yet prove worth keeping faith with Albrighton.

Getting shot of Samba makes sense though, and Coleman has to be near the front of the queue.

The alternative I'd throw out there is Salcido. Looks a real threat going forward and Fulham's fix are half decent.

Fair point Si, however I reckon he is an absolute bargain at that price. We will struggle to keep clean sheets as our experienced No.1 is out, most teams would struggle without their main keeper

Oh don't get me wrong I think Krul has huge potential, he is just inexperienced so little things like communicating with the backline etc need to be worked on. We have been poor at home, particularly V Blackpool. I think we were very, very unlucky V Stoke and we played a 4-4-2 which did not work at all against Wigan. I can see why he did, in the Stoke game in particular we just didn't get the luck we needed in front of goal, but the formation change was a damn disaster. If we stick with that we will get relegated IMO

as a united fan, i hope that if rooney goes, we get at least 50milloin(obviously)
though, i would prefer a mezut ozil type player with that monry rather than a direct replacement
berba and hernandez are in great form and it will also give macheda time to shine
I worry though that if berba loses form, we would be stuck for strikers

I'd like to see Sneidjer and 433. Not sure where that leaves Berba, he's like Veron, excellent player but not adapted to the utd way of playing of recent years. When he plays we have to play 442, there's no other option it seems.

anyone else seriously tempted by nasri? i've got 8.4mil for a midfielder and the obvious would seem vdv or arteta but the thought of nasri and fabregas the way arsenal turn it on at home is really tempting me. nasri is surprising me this season with just how a clinical a finisher he is, plus i noticed he's dominating freekicks even with fabregas on the pitch. oh and the final plus when fabregas inevitably twangs a hamstring suddenly nasri becomes head honcho and penalty taker

that was the only issue i was thinking at their options during the game and they have a fit song, wilshere, fabregas, diaby, rosicky, walcott, arshavin to go with nasri. 8 into 5 is a bit of a concern

Alri Lads . Its good to be back on this fantastic page . I havnt been doing great in the aul Fantasy Football recently . Either because I havnt been spending hours upon hours on it or the more likely my absences from this page .

Id very much appreciate it if you sound lads wound help kick start my season again . Im on 393 points At the moment and my team is linked . I only had 9 players last week due to Lampard and Drogba . I am aiming at doing a transfer every week to fix my mess of a team . I am considering a GK and defensive line of teams who are strong at home and dont concede many . Teams like Sunderland , Blackburn , Stoke , Aston Villa all pop into mind I dont want to be spending 6m on 4 defenders . A forward line of Drogba , Chamakh , Tevez , Bent Kalinic etc pop into mind and a midfield line of Silva , Milner , Nani , Fabregas , Wilshire and plenty more also pop into mind .

Can somebody give me there advice would be much appreciated.

Mourinhio couldn't make it more obvious he wants this job after Fergies gone:

"I think Rooney should stay there for life, he belongs to Manchester United, to Sir alex Ferguson, to the fans"

"I like Manchester United, i like Sir Alex i Like Rooney, id love to work with Rooney but believe he should and will stay at United".
