Cesc Fabregas has been ruled out of Sunday’s Carling Cup Final with the hamstring injury sustained in last night’s 1-0 win over Stoke. Arsene Wenger has this evening revealed that the injury, although not a major setback, will keep his skipper out of the Wembley clash with Birmingham.

“It is a very small injury but certainly Cesc will be out for Sunday….For how long [beyond that] I don’t know but definitely for Sunday…He is disappointed. We all feel sorry and sad for him. The only way we help him now is to win the Carling Cup as he contributed a lot in this competition.”

The absence of Fabregas for Sunday’s game is not a concern for Fantasy Managers but, the chances of the Spaniard appearing for Gameweek’s 29 Emirates clash with Sunderland certainly are. A return for that one looks fairly remote to say the least given that Arsenal will surely be doing all they can to get Fabregas fit for the Champions League clash with Barcelona three days later. When asked on his skippers’ chances of making the European tie, Wenger was non-committal..

“It is very difficult to give a deadline…It is impossible.”

Elsewhere, Wenger also offered us an update on Theo Walcott’s condition – he looks likely to be out for at least a couple of weeks with the ankle sprain suffered in last night’s game.

“He has a classic ankle sprain. We don’t think there is any more damage to it. But it is still a sprain. We are sad for him too. He is out for Sunday and maybe one or two more weeks more.”

Wenger did have better news on Robin Van Persie, Laurent Koscielny and Abou Diaby however. All three are fit and in contention for Sunday’s final.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

With so many redundant or crockeds in my team I need to prioritise who to ditch first I suppose.

As Walcott seems to be definitely going down tonight and out for at least a couple of weeks, he's 1st in the ejector seat and my unusual replacement is.... Gutierrez. On form, home to Bolton with Zat and Ricketts out injured, then Everton also home.

I'll need another xfer or maybe 2 but let's wait, eh.

    Team for GW28 ATM:

    Begovic ( Foster )
    Evra / Huth / Coleman/Kelly ( Djourou )
    Nani / Barton /Meireles ( VDV / Adam )
    Rooney /Tevez / Odemwingie

    Already done a 4 pt. hit .

Worth to bring in Silva, Cahill or A. Young and take another 4 pt. hit if Kelly is injured?

    Stuck on last page...

    My 10 man team:

    Begovic, (Szczesny)
    Simpson, Kelly, Coleman, Kolarov, Rafael
Nani, Cahill, Adam, (Fabregas ,Van der Vaart)
    Tevez, Odemwingie, (Van Persie)

I’d lose too much on RVP, Adam & VDV to sell and expected them not to play this gw anyway. I also expected Fabs not to play and don’t need to go through the extra transfers to ship him out and get him back. Adan was the only real dissapointment.

2 changes for me for 4pt hit and now managed to field 11
      Hart, (Szczesny)
      Luiz, Coleman, Bardsley, Baines, (Jiranek)
      Meireles, Nani, Dempsey, (Adam, Walcott)
      Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez

Took VDV and RVP out for Roo and Meireles but wishing I had taken Walcott out now gggrrrrr.

My personal hero Borja Valero with another two assists to his name tonight again. Rumoured to be on his way to Real Madrid and recently won an obscure prize for best La Liga player outside Real or Barca.

A simple tactic that is good imo is playing a 442 with the central midfielders lying deep and the wingers far up the pitch, set to attack. Both forwards set as poachers. One central midfielder to be a ball winner and the other a deep lying play maker.

Whichever strategy you choose make sure you stick with it for at least 15 games, it takes a long time for players to get used to strategies in fm11 imo.

The player ratings all depends on how good score the scouts rating the players have in spotting player potential and spotting player ability.

Just look at the numbers though, 20 is the maximum and you can help yourself out.

I´ve decided to go for Rooney instead of Van Persie. Even though Van Persie has a good game next round, he is probably not going to play more than 60-70 minutes. At the same time Rooney will play 270 minutes.

    Must outscore him.

Not really, can't see him doing anything against Chelsea so it just comes down to the Wigan game. They've hardly been convincing away either, I might actually go Tevez.

I reckon this week would be a good week for a cheeky gamble on someone seeing as there is no obvious choice, maybe Huth of Stoke or Cahill if he's confirmed to play.

I think he scored a hattrick in the home match, as UTD won both home and away 5-0. the away match was quite early in the season i think, seem to remember owen scoring...

Yeah, Owen scoring is the only part of that game I remember. It was the game after the Burnley defeat iirc.

2 goals in 14 appearances against Chelsea apparently.

    Begovic (WBA)
Rafael Coleman Hangeland (wig&che, SUN, mcy)
Nani Silva Cahill Young Barton (wig&che, FUL, SUN, BLA, BOL)
    Tevez (c) Campbell (FUL, wol)
    Subs: Foster RVP Djourou RJohnson
    -8 points
Above is my team for week if I do my proposed transfers:
    Adam to Young
Also considering Downing, he seems to be in better form. Is it worth doing tonight to avoid a rise?
    VDV to Silva
Plan to get him back when I know he's fully fit. I don't want to mess around and find he misses another few gameweeks.
    Fabregas to Cahill
Obviously depends on Cahill fitness news. Similiar to VDV, he could be out for a longer time ( seems unlikely to make the SUN game) and could always get him back.
    Thoughts?

I think that it's really asking a lot with an 8 point hit. The Fabs--> Cahill move makes sense if Cahill is fit. Adam to Young is good. If it were up to me, I won't do the VDV move because you'll want him back the following GW, plus you have City coverage.

Opinions on this for a 4 p hit?
    Fab -> A.Young/Cahill
    RVP -> Rooney
    Adam -> Meireles

    Would give me:
    Begovic (Foster)
    Rafael* Kelly Coleman (Dawson,Djourou)
    Nani* A.Young Meireles Brunt (Lennon)
    Tevez Rooney* Odemwingie
