Cesc Fabregas has been ruled out of Sunday’s Carling Cup Final with the hamstring injury sustained in last night’s 1-0 win over Stoke. Arsene Wenger has this evening revealed that the injury, although not a major setback, will keep his skipper out of the Wembley clash with Birmingham.

“It is a very small injury but certainly Cesc will be out for Sunday….For how long [beyond that] I don’t know but definitely for Sunday…He is disappointed. We all feel sorry and sad for him. The only way we help him now is to win the Carling Cup as he contributed a lot in this competition.”

The absence of Fabregas for Sunday’s game is not a concern for Fantasy Managers but, the chances of the Spaniard appearing for Gameweek’s 29 Emirates clash with Sunderland certainly are. A return for that one looks fairly remote to say the least given that Arsenal will surely be doing all they can to get Fabregas fit for the Champions League clash with Barcelona three days later. When asked on his skippers’ chances of making the European tie, Wenger was non-committal..

“It is very difficult to give a deadline…It is impossible.”

Elsewhere, Wenger also offered us an update on Theo Walcott’s condition – he looks likely to be out for at least a couple of weeks with the ankle sprain suffered in last night’s game.

“He has a classic ankle sprain. We don’t think there is any more damage to it. But it is still a sprain. We are sad for him too. He is out for Sunday and maybe one or two more weeks more.”

Wenger did have better news on Robin Van Persie, Laurent Koscielny and Abou Diaby however. All three are fit and in contention for Sunday’s final.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Does anyone have any good suggestion for a Walcott replacement?

My midfield have apparently been hexed and are all slowly getting injured: VdV/Nani/Young/Cahill/Walcott.

Or do nothing (Nasri may be injured in the CC Final) and accept this week you'll have 10 men playing and sort it all out next week 🙂

Suppose it's a tailor made alternative with the recent injuries to the Arse. Only worry is with there being no Arsenal game this weekend and most of my team have been slowly taken down. A one week certain drop isn't too bad I suppose.

I would take a punt and go for Gutierrez. I know it might sound like chaising points, but its between him, Nolan and Barton in the Newcastle midfield and the other two are both nearing 2-match suspensions. If you wanna look a bit higher, maybe try Silva or Meireles

I have 5 players confirmed out this week. My night has not got better with Kelly getting injured. Some people are in a hell of a state worse than me. Don't make up bull concerning a guy that many of us will captain this week

He was replaced at half time, Kenny said he 'felt a wee twitch'. doesnt sound very bad, but who knows these days. The fact that he is carrying any sort of knock at all might see him rested with the WH match so close

"Obviously we picked up one or two knocks in the match. Martin Kelly felt a wee twinge at the top of his leg so he had to come off at half-time. Then Daniel Agger had to come off and Soto split his eye."

Doesn't seem too serious, I hope...

Don't sound serious but it's 2 days until the West Ham game.

In a way I hope he's out, would give me an excuse to take a hit for a defender and get him out before Liverpool's torrid fixtures.

I don't have a keeper this week, is it worth 4pt for someone budget like myhill for 1 game only. Will play Foster for the rest of season so don't want to tie up unnecessary funds on someone more expensive.

To field 11 players I need to swap out one of:
    RVP
    Walcott
    Adam
    VDV

    I'm thinking Walcott, because:
    1) We know from Wenger he'll be out for 2/3 weeks
    2) I've only got 0.2 profit in him, rest are much higher

Or VDV because he seems to be out week after week never getting back from injury

    Right. Discuss this.

    http://www.evertonfc.com/match/report/1011/everton-v-sunderland

"Louis Saha and Jack Rodwell could be back in contention for the visit of Sunderland, according to manager David Moyes.... Otherwise, the Blues are at full-strength."

No injury for Cahill mentioned at all.

    What's more...

"Tim Cahill has scored five Premier League goals in nine games versus Sunderland, including two in his last two appearances against them. Only against Aston Villa (6) has he netted more goals in the Premier League."
Of course, Everton play AV in gw31.

    Fabs to Cahill, no brainer?

Bayer 04 Leverkusen's victory in the Europa League tonight means that Germany will now have four teams in the Champions League from 2012-13: three definite starters and one in the CL qualifiers.

The Bundesliga nicked the additional spot from Italy - bit of a change in fortunes in recent years, huh?

Am I crazy to be thinking of playing my wildcard this week?

    Team is:

    Stockdale (Foster)
    Coleman Walker R.Johnson Evra (Sagna)
    Nani Barton Nolan Adam (Fabregas)
    Bent Odemwingie (RVP)

So would onnly have 10 playing at best if I used only my free transfer. Think I should use the wildcard but not sure...!

i KNOW they are there for the popular games. i dont know how popular the game you are wanting to bet on is. sorry.
usually paddy offers about 9/2 for a red card in a normal game.

vdv > cahill or adam > giggs for -4

i think my season hangs on this decision
the rest of my team is

    Begovic
    Kolarov Kelly Clark Coleman
    Barton Nani Young
    Rooney Tevez(C)
    Foster RVP Djourou VDV Adam

    thank you!
    (assume cahill is fit)

I would prefer giggs over cahill this week. But I would keep adam instead of VDV. How about VDV--->Giggs?

vdv>giggs is always an option. i am only worried about giggs not getting much gametime. although, this would give me giggs DGW in GW28 and then switch to cahill in GW29 for his DGW. noiiiice. thanks i think i will go for it

Giggs - no. unlikely to play both matches, certainly not a good long term option.

        besides...

Man Utd has noone to play on the left. So if Giggs is fit, he would play. Against Chelsea, Berbatov has more chance of being benched than Giggs. That's what I think.

united dont really have much of a choice do they, they'd be forced to play giggs atleast one game. gibson is too much of a cack to feature in both games. i am not punting on cahill until moyes confirms, because i am taking a -4 for the transfer.

this fibbert walrus guy has worried me about giggs, i just might have to go for silva now, and switch to cahill next week.

If your other goalkeeper doesn't play then 1. Otherwise...50-50, because I would keep Adam(if I had him)

I am thinking cahill but he just hasn't been the same since he came back from asia

    He just look lethagic.

Not sure what to do really, could bring in both tevez and silva but that seems rather overboard with city players

already got tevez, could bring in silva r yaya and other keeper is szczsney...
Also adam dosent play to 19th march so i think i should ge rid as he will fall in value and everton have 4 home games in the nxt 5... wat u think...

if you can do adam to silva or yaya then I would. I am currently considering a possible adam to yaya switch alongside a fabs to cahill switch

Silva's last 3 games has got 5,7,7 which is pretty good, he looks more in form than cahill and next week man city have wigan at home.

Tevez actually got an assist tonight, I am getting him in as last time I opted not to and he scored a hat-trick.

I've not been on here for 2 weeks, so not understanding why there isn't any love for Meireles, he seems to be on cracking form under Dalgleish, but no one seems to be bringing him in for say Walcott.

I know Liverpool don't have a great run of fixtures...but is that the only reason?

I suppose many feel that the "ship has sailed" on that particular transfer; and as you say Liverpool's fixtures get more difficult.

what if I needed a guy for one week only and this was that week (free beer on the line)

would I be better off going for an AV player or is Meireles the man for the job this week?
