There are mounting concerns that Robin Van Persie is set for another spell on the sidelines as a result of a knee injury sustained in today’s Carling Cup defeat.

As stated in today’s “Knee Jerk” (no pun intended), the Arsenal striker appeared to pick up the injury volleying home Arsenal’s first-half equaliser. The Dutchman was later withdrawn in the second-half amidst fears that he had suffered damage to the knee. Wenger revealed post-match that Van Persie had indeed sustained an impact injury on scoring the goal, with a full assessment likely on Monday. With the Champions League second leg in Barcelona looming large, Wenger sounded less than optimistic….

“Robin is not in good shape after this game. It’s a knee problem which we will have to assess on Monday.”

Van Persie has of course been a victim of a string of long and short-term injuries in recent seasons and many Fantasy Managers are likely to be philosophical given the risk that’s associated with the striker. With Arsenal facing Sunderland in gameweek 29, just three days before the Barcelona tie, there was always a chance that Van Persie would miss out. This latest injury could at least end all speculation and uncertainty around the likelihood of him being rotated, ruling him out of the gameweek reckoning altogether. We will hopefully know more within the next 24-hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Inception should have won best picture imo.

Nolan should have been nominated for director as well.

I love Inception but the Oscars panel love a good period piece, it was the most predictable victory ever.

I love Freddie Piquionne. Turning to the Spurs fans in the club wembley seats above me when he scored in extra time last year and hurling abuse at them is one of my finest football memories.

Like John Hartson said on MOTD2 last night, its indefensible.

If the ref says in his report that he saw it but chose to take no action then he's lying too.

Anything other than a 3 game ban and its fair to say that something is rotten in the F.A.

This Black Swan...got to see it. Well done Kings Speech. Skin (SA film) was the best film I saw last year.

Anywayz. This RVP bizness is frustrating. More than likely to be out for more than one or two gwks. Thinking Suarez is going to net v Man U.

RVP injury is great news for me, I was looking at an Everton striker for the double, but felt like I would have to put RVP in because the potential damage is too high.

So if he's out, I can do the transfer I want!

        Not good news for me.

Deliberately avoided doing RVP to Rooney to avoid having to spend a transfer getting him back. Now I'll probably have to anyway, and I've missed out on Rooney's ill deserved points too.

To add the extra icing on this particular cake of cack the player I took the hit for instead of Rooney was Barton.

Unless Huth scores and keeps a cleanie tonight this has been a poxy gameweek for me.

Might just do a jamsiep and take an 8 pointer this week. Cahill, Nasri and Torres in Lennon, Meireles and Van Persie out. Can't do any worse than this week.

Cahill and Nasri I agree: fix and pedigree in their favour. Torres hasn't done much yet. I've got this gut feeling that Suarez will start to come good.

    Morning guys,

Having some early thoughts about the coming GW.

    Team currently;

    Hart

    Coleman/Huth/Djourou/Hangeland

    Nani/Barton/Bentley/Downing

    Tevez(C)/Suarez

    Subs: DJ/Rafael/VDV

I have x1 freebie and 6.2 in the bank. I'm thinking about DJ > Zigic as B'ham have the double and a nice run of fixtures. If Barton is still injured I can put him on the bench. However, anyone think I should do Barton > Cahill/Arteta instead for more Everton coverage. Thoughts appreciated guys.

Problem is BIR don't notch many goals. I'm limiting myself to one BIR: RJ. I feels that's all that's needed.

Who is your other gk? Rafael to RJ would be my choice.

Would it be mental to be thinking of Demba Ba for this weeekend? Stoke are dire on the road, Ba nearly signed for them so you'd say he has a decent chance to score the way these things work?

I know they have poor fixtures to come but he'd probably be benched the following week?

Or should i just be looking at Sturridge?

Adam still out, now Campbell for 3 games. Rooney will be for 3 and then Kelly out with his tear. Rafael isn't getting a sniff at the moment either.

I'm not sure what to address first.

if rooney gets a 3 match ban he will miss chelsea away, liverpool away and arsenal in the cup, so in fantasy terms as u cant do anything about chelsea this week hed only miss one gameweek away at liverpool which isnt the easiest game anyway, ill be keeping him if he gets banned

    So how about

    Brunt > Cahill
    Kelly > Kolorov/Zabaleta

    For a 4 point hit.

    Otherwise just Brunt to Cahill

    Someone Help Me!!!!
I have a ridiculously BAD Team

    Cech/Stockdale
    Coleman/Smalling/Clichy/Zabaleta/Kelly
    Fabregas/Taylor/Pedersen/Henderson/Arteta
    Tevez/Odemwingie/Jones

    Bank - 3.2 Million

I have used both wildcards which I now regret
most of my team are consistantly getting low scores
and I am not sure what to do

Do you have any free transfers??

      Get in Foster for Stockdale
      Get in Djorou for Clichy
Get in Van Der Vaart for Henderson
      Get in Nani for Taylor
      Get in Berba for Jones
      Get in Begovic for Cech

LOL... You could save money by getting Nasri for Fabs...
