Sky Sports Analysis – Goalkeeper Bonus Save Points

As mentioned in a previous article, there’s been a handful of new rules introduced to the Sky Sports Fantasy game this season. One of the most welcome additions is the move to reward goalkeepers with bonus points – stoppers will now receive two extra points if they make five or more saves in a match, thus boosting their appeal and forcing us to reassess their worth in the season ahead.

The Sky Sports table for Goalkeepers in the Members Area now includes the bonus points from saves that would have been accrued for the past two seasons. In this evening’s article for Members, we’ve analysed these numbers in full, assessing the impact the new bonus system is likely to have on our Sky Sports selections.

i think this dgw is just too good to ignore and if u do you'll most likely be playing catch up for the rest of the season. think i'll be going with 4 (Luiz, Cole, Hazard, Benteke) plus a bunch of guys who have easy gw1 matches then wildcarding gw2

    Security purposes. The fact that we wish/expect a chelsea cleanie does not mean he will not score. He is a good striker with two games in which he could nick in one or two plus he is on form and proven, but only for DGW.

To the people who are going with 3 Chelsea players + Benteke and Dzeko - would you be concerned that could possibly leave you with 5 players who may not play in Gameweek 3? This would be assuming that Aguero would be back to full fitness and available for selection, which could possibly affect Dzeko's playing time.

    Well that would still leave you with 3 not playing. If you benched them it would likely mean having to play two 4.0 defenders and 4.5 midfielder.
    
    What would be worse, playing a really weakened squad, or heading into Gameweek 3 already on a possible -8?

  Don't overload your team with DGW players. It is madness sometimes, what DGW announcement does with people's plans.
  
  I am getting 3 Chelsea players and I am gonna use 2 FTs to replace them. Hazard is a season keeper for me anyway, so I can bench him once.

Most of us are struggling to fill our teams with players from the top clubs. Every season though, there are a small group of budget players that find a way into our squads that manage to average a very respectable 5ppg. Michu and Charlie Adam from previous seasons are prime examples.

Who do you see emerging from the budget ranks this season as a player that is more than squad filler?

      I +1 Evs below....don't know much about Kim Bassinger, but him or Brady/Koren I suppose. Doubt they will be a 5ppg player though. My guess is they will tick over like Maloney.

  Especially at the beginning of the season . The best players often take a few weeks to reach top gear , while the cheap differentials take advantage with fast starts.
  People are far too stressed on picking the correct team , its just not going to play out like they expect. It never does

      I actually fancy Zaha to start the season on the wing. He's played himself into the starting 11 for United IMO. Can't see Valencia or Nani keeping him on the bench at the moment.

  I think Mirallas offers good value at 7.5 this season. I think finding another Adam 5.0 and Michu 6.5 will be harder this year as FPL seem to have most of the prices pretty bang on in my opinion.

        I doubt it. Buttner and Monreal were the only defenders to achieve 5ppg last season, and they only played 15 matches between them. The only nailed-on bargain players to achieve 5ppg were Michu and Fellaini.

  Players that often play out of position are usually the hidden gyms. Kevin Mirallas could surprise a lot of people this year if he stays fit. That fact that he is expensive enough reflects how far forward he will play. Coleman could be another play who may play higher up the pitch than his position dictates.
  
  I fancy sessegnon to have a good start to the year. Sunderland look really fit, they basically ran spurs into the ground in pre-season and sessegon looked they way he did a couple of seasons ago. Couple this with lots of new signings, a very emotive manager, and managable fixtures you have the potential for a very good start for alot of sunderland players. How long it could last will remain to be seen.
  
  Alot of people have suggested Bony, i agree, i also have him in my team but i am tempted to get rid of him. While he is a great player he is in a team that will be playing europa league. This can have a negative effect on teams and thus players points. Swansea will either manage the challenge like spurs have in the past or will greatly underperform like newcastle and stoke when they got europa league. Only time will tell.

  I remember Adam benefiting a lot from the old BPS which I can't see happening again to that extent but I think this year Kim has a shot at it as I can see Cardiff being a surprise package. JRod may also have some potential but 5ppg is an ask for the top players so I won't be holding my breath.

i strongly believe, regardless of reports that he will not be used as much (mourinho's message to all players that even lampard will be rested), that he will start the majority of the matches

Morning all. Question for you - which def/mid combo would you go for?

Reid/Mirallas
Coleman/Nolan

Does the inclusion of Nolan depend on the fitness of his partner in crime, Carroll, or can he perform well with out him? Potentiall omission of Coleman is based on Martinez's tactics and tendency to leak a few goals whilst his teams like to attack.

  Not necessarily & I too think Schurrle will start vs RM.
  Schurrle's strength is counter attack & shoot.Perfect player against stronger teams.
  So,don't expect him starting in DGW.

Villa were improving at the tail end of last season and are pretty impressive in preseason so far. Can see their attack doing pretty well this season.. Dont see chelsea or pool trashing em in GW 1 like many on here. Benteke, Weimann and agbon upfront are forming a very formidable trio for villa i must say

Worth doing Bony to Aspas?

I can then get Bony in for GW3. I am worried that I may be wasting a transfer. In all likelihood I will need to do a fair few of them at the start of the season. This is catch price increases of players who hit form early.
