Two intriguing fixtures in the Premier League today, effecting both ends of the table. League leaders Manchester United reignite their great rivalry against a Liverpool side desperate to get into Europe, whilst Tottenham’s European ambitions stretch as high as the Champions League spots. They visit a Wolves side well capable of beating the top teams, but find themselves struggling in a relegation battle.

As always, the Dugout Discussion chatroom is open, and the first thing to digest is the team news from Anfield…

Liverpool XI: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Aurelio, Gerrard, Lucas, Kuyt, Meireles, Maxi, Suarez.

Man United XI: Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Smalling, Brown, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Rooney.

The headline team news for the hosts is that £35 million January signing, Andy Carroll, makes the substitutes bench for the first time in a Liverpool shirt. Kenny Dalglish opts for four defenders at the back, with Luis Suarez leading the line up front.

The visitors reinstate the Premier League’s top scorer to their starting eleven, with Javier Hernandez replacing the Bulgarian on the pine. Another once regular starter is back in the team after a couple of games on the touchline, as Rafael da Silva gets the nod ahead of John O’Shea.

The Dugout Discussion will stay open right up until the hotly anticipated bonus points are distributed.

Watching that vid, I like little Scholes wading in and giving Kuyt a girlie shove. Kuyt (not exactly the Vinny Jones of the Premier League) squares up and little Scholes looks for someone to hide behind. 🙂

The best thing MU can do is circle the wagones, knuckle down and win the title. We'll then see what kind of pics Liverpool fans upload to Twitter to try and deflect the attention away from Utd overhauling their title count...

Also, this is typical Liverpool fans trying to use this result to deflect attention away from another trophy-less season, just like they've done the last few seasons. It's almost like they'd be happy to just beat Utd every season, rather than win anything. Such a sorry state.

The most bizarre part of the whole Nani furore was why on earth Van Der Saar was shown a yellow card - he seemed about the calmest person involved in it all....Gerrard could and perhaps should have been off for pushing Nani over

It's true he was calm but he's not supposed to run 60 meters from his goal to talk to the ref when he's not the captain. Keepers often get booked for that.

Reina was also involved, seemingly more so, does the fact he only ran 40 metres make a difference? Gerrard and Kuyt fanned the flames, as far as I could see...

            wig - Decent
            STK - Decent
            mcy/ARS - Tough games but a double
            WBA - Decent

and like all strikers he will have a massive confidence boost after tonight's goals. I'm tempted.
