Just in case you missed it, we’re supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow we’ll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, we’re going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.

The Live Matchday Experience

PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen – this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games you’re playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, it’s addictive stuff when you’re tussling at the top for some prize money.

For a preview of a live matchday on PlayON, check out this movie.

My Club and League of Titans

We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your club’s points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.

This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, “League of Titans” – which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek – leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.

Open Challenges

PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if you’re new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the “Open Challenge” option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.

The New PlayON

There’s a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at what’s in store and you can view the development site via this link.

As you’ll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but there’s also new features on the way:

Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and you’ll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.

Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.

And there’s more…
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.

The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.

Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterday’s strategy guide for some tips to get you started.

You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a £2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed £500 prize pot this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Opinions please? Am I taking too much of a risk in Tonev and Schurrle in midfield?

    Cech
    Dawson Merts Lescott
    Tonev Schurrle Lennon Coutinho
    Benteke Jelavic Lukaku(c )

Benched – Steks Riether Vlaar Routledge

      Too risky for me..
      Dawson risk with Kaboul
Lescott risk with Nastacic when he returns.
      Tonev rotation risk
      Lennon rotation risk
      Schurrle rotation risk
      Jelavic rotation risk
Benteke blank GW3, BUT good pick if you had no rotation risks.
      Routledge, rotation risk.
Back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

I really like my team, besides I am not so convinced about Nolan? Is he really such a good option? Eventually who should I get in his place?

    Team is:

    Mignolet - Marshall
    Ivanovic - Mertesacker - Collins - Clyne - TurnerB/Brayford
    Hazard - Walcott - Mirallas - Nolan - Kim
    Soldado - Sturridge - Lukaku

I'm not convinced with Nolan myself.. Chadli could be a good option if you downgrade Clyne, I did a little bit of guesswork on every team and predicted 5 cleansheets for Southampton in the first 19 weeks which isn't great

From playing around with the budget it seems to me that the GW1 team basically comes down to choosing between a small number of often mutually exclusive priorities. Could you rank them in order of their importance to you?

    A) RVP
    B) Liverpool attack
    C) Four good midfielders
    D) Three good strikers
    E) Mata
    F) Chelsea defender
    G) Benteke

    My order: D B C E A G F

He's had a long post confed cup rest and has less competition on the right than the other two attacking midfield positions (only Moses and Ramires spring to mind) so I'll go with yes

    Sky Sports FF Captain Question

Saturday, captain Walcott at home to Villa.

Sunday morning, change captain to Hazard.

Monday, transfer out Hazard for Silva and he becomes captain vs Newcastle.

    I understand all that.

Now I want to captain Walcott at Fulham the following Saturday. Can I use my change captain on Saturday morning to do it, or do I do it Friday night?

And to change my captain again that week I need to make a transfer right?

Just catching up and read the RVP article.

As a Utd fan, the thought of watching the whole season without a Utd player in my Fantasy teams is a strange one. Outside of RVP, and until Zaha/Kagawa are properly bedded in, I can't see any other way in to the Utd attack apart from shelling out the big bucks on the main man...

At the Charity Shield, seeing his clinical finishing before my eyes, reminded me of his abilities. 38 appearances last season, goals against anyone including last minute winners against the then champions, I can't be going all year with mixed feelings about that. If RVP was a Liverpool/City/Leeds or whatever player, convincing myself to not have him and spread the 5.0m saving about would be easy! But thankfully he is not, so for the enjoyment of my football season, RVP is in. And staying there. 🙂

If you've got Anelka then finding that extra 0.5 to get JRod in is still well worth it

Currently thinking about a self imposed ban on tinkering with my team. Got 2.0m in the bank and this is my current line up.
probably going over the top with Chelsea & Villa players but is the gamble worth it to maybe get a 20+ point lead in the first GW.
    Vorm, Boruc
    Chester, Coleman, Baker, Terry, Garrido
    Zaha, Dembele, Hazard, Continho, Tonev
    RVP, Dzeko, Lukkaku

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

      OTT with CHE and VILLA?

      Baker will get minus pts
      Hazard solid
Lukaku - risk but good shout

      OTT?

I would replace Garrido with Turner (Norwich)
Zaha will be a rotation risk and has very difficult opening fixtures and Dembele played in a deeper role last year at Spurs
I love the Tonev gamble but I doubt he will start both games due to his lack of pre-season fitness.
Dzeko is also a rotation risk with currently Negredo

doesnt really clear situation up anymore, but my thought is he isnt the good a selection to merit risk of being out

Why is Sturridge in team if hes not going to play?

I wouldn't understand why Brayford should play in Home games only. To much pressure on the last year regular championship player? But John 18yrs to start ..
      I call it BS

Is Olsson (Norwich) nailed on? Could be playing RM?
Better option than Turner or not?

Snodgrass usually plays RM and its hard to argue with the highest scoring mid price midfielder.
