We wanted to post this before deadline this morning but, due to our technical issues, we were unable to take that opportunity. Rather than waste the chance to embarrass ourselves, however, we thought we’d stick these up this evening, regardless.

Last season many of us were left red-faced thanks to our terrible predictions for the 2012/13 season.

I was left particularly embarrassed with my now laughable assertion that Charles N’Zogbia would be last season’s best differential. Meanwhile Granville’s predictions that Sam Alladyce would be the first boss to bite the bullet and Shinji Kagawa would be the season’s top assister also failed to materialise.

Credit though went to Anorak for correctly predicting that Michu would be the year’s star budget midfielder. Hard to believe the attacking midfielder was initially priced at just 6.5m at the start of last season. Mark’s prediction that Rickie Lambert would shine in the budget forward category also proved correct.

But enough of last year, here’s our thoughts on the season ahead for you to bookmark and use to embarrass/congratulate us as the season progresses.

Moderator Evs knows all about Top 5s, he was a top 5 player at the end the FPL 2012/13 season and was even in with a shout of winning the competition on the final day. Will his experience reap dividends when it comes to predicting the 2013/14 season?

How can they even allow Walters to take the peno?

His run up makes it so obvious where he's gonna put that penalty. I think 95% of his penos are directed towards the bottom right region, or the crowd..

        I got silva haha.

Just didn't realise how bad it was... Hoping my Tottenham guys do well vs a dysfunctional arsenal.

Liverpool vs Mutd is usually goal fest so Coutinho should be ok 🙂

I got a couple of Newcastle lads on my bench for it. Consider them as a budget alternative to doubling up on City as they have a nice run of fixtures thereafter too.

Can somebody explain to me exactly how price changes work?

What i've gathered so far.. goes up 0.1 every 30k total transfers in (minus transfers out)
Goes up another 0.1 if this doubles etc but can only go up/down a max of 0.3 per GW.

when are the deadlines for when the prices actually change or is it just random?

Price changes are usually at the same time each day/night - last year I believe it was around 2:30 a.m. UK time.

I'm not sure, but I don't think it's a set amount of transfers (like 30K), it's more of a percentage. So somebody like RVP or Bale would need more in/out transfers to change price than somebody like Coleman... or at least that's how I see it.

After cooling down a bit after the RVP-induced panic this morning, I'm also planning on keeping Mirallis. Although I am a little concerned he was the first sub off, he's on corners and had some of Everton's best chances today. Fixtures coming up are pretty good for a talented guy playing in an advanced position on a good team...

Not knee jerking but just toying with the idea of how I might work RVP in and just looking for opinions. No decision will be made until after all games.

Over the next two weeks I could do Ivanovic, Walcott and Lukaku to Shaw, Jarvis and Rvp?

Frustrating that I had Coleman, but decided to double up with Migs and Toure GW1. I planned to get Coleman in for Cole by GW3 (or Toure if I chose Coleman GW1). Made the last minute change of Koscielny in for Mertesacker. I had Benteke in originally but a poll on here told me to jog on. I also had Sturridge, in a front 3 of RVP, Sturridge, Benteke. Now I have none of the 3. I could have fielded a squad which would have got 60+ points if I had stopped tinkering a week ago, and that's with several games still in the bag. Ah well, I have plenty of players left to play.

I did Coleman to Toure the other day also if that makes you feel any better. Toure could have just as well had a big day also (header hit the crossbar) so it's all a crap shoot. Maybe fortunes will reverse next week (though I'm getting Coleman before his price rises haha)
