There are no brown envelopes in sight; this “bung” is firmly placed in my nasal passages as I clamber from my man-flu grief pit to sit alongside Granville and take my Gameweek medicine. After seeing me off by 21 points, it’s only fair I gave my co-host his moment of glory, regardless of being short of match fitness.

Somehow we end up arguing about Robin van Persie once again, before taking a gander at the bandwagons rolling and preview the weekend’s action the only way we know how: by rambling endlessly and singling out some dubious player picks along the way.

Get your repeat prescription via this link or cure your ailments via the easy to swallow player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

When taking a hit, does anyone take into account whether your attackers are going against your defenders? I am close to Rooney and Brady in for exactly 15.5m, but I have Zabaleta already. Normally I'd say that I am simply hedging my bets, but since it's for a hit isn't my top priority keeping my points ceiling high? Any strategists/theorists care to characterize the right approach to risk in this situation? Can't land on a 5.0m mid to pair with Rooney...

    Thanks

The only safe way I feel to play a wildcard this week and keep RVP is to keep a bit of cash behind to avoid any further catastrophies. Could keep Barkley instead of Mirallas for more cash, but he seems risky.

So Kaka's recently announced that it's possibly time for him to search for a new club.. Would Kaka to United be too far fetched? We are lacking an attacking creative talent in that area.

I've not seen him play in a long time so for all I know he could've completely lost his legs and done a Sneijder by now. Thoughts ?

2-2 liverpool's new look strike force looks so good even without Suarez but no Toure concerns me. RvP more than capable of grabbing a couple with a non-match fit Skrtel at the back.

2-1 Arsenal. At the Emirates. Bit too soon for all Spurs' new signings. Expect it to be tighter than usual.

Well, if you're picking Brady, you aren't picking him based on this week's fixture in any case.

I wouldn't let that hamper your decision. If you're so worried about this week, pick a player with an easier fixture than City away! 😉

I'm going for Brady btw. Even though I have to play him this week against City.

i'd worry about walters losing pens, and if so losing appeal. his penalty record is beyond a joke now

I don't particularly like either but Snodgrass of those. May I suggest P. Hernandez as an alternative? Swansea have some really decent fixtures from GW7 onwards.

What it sounds like - a proven fantasy points scorer.

For example I'd contemplate selecting a player who has proven himself before, but has poor form but good fixtures.

I am not having a go, and maybe a proof reader (if there is one, I know it is all free so you are using your valuable time to write the article et al) should have picked it up. It just really detracts from the hard work you have put into the article and is a bit jarring.

Finding selection particularly tough this week (specifically choice of keeper, defenders, captain, and vice-captain). Below is what I am thinking of going with. Would really appreciate opinions. I’m assuming Kolo won’t be fit

    Szezny
    Coleman, Collins, Shaw
    Walcott, Coutinho, Mirallas, Nolan (VC)
    Soldado, Sturridge, Dzeko (C)

Subs: Boruc, M Turner, Ravel, K Toure

I'd contemplate Boruc over Sczcesny - but either is an option.

      Everything else looks fine

That decision might be taken away from you.

I'd actually probably play Turner. You have to back the home team.

(says the guy whose Foster/Boruc rotation went the wrong way...)

After doing Haz -> Snoddy i have 3.5 in the bank.
Want to to upgrade Toure to a premium defender next week. Preferbly a Spurs defender because of their fixtures, Vert or Walker? Is Vert going to be rested sometimes becuase of Kaboul, Dawson and the new signing?

I think Evra is the best premium defender to own over the next 10GWs or so.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the record for the most consecutively awarded penalties for a single team in a season happens to be? Surely Spurs can't get 3 penalties awarded in 3 weeks? Though with our defense and squad woes atm, nothing would surprise me...

      It's tough isn't it.

I've got Dzeko, soldado, Silva and Giroud that are in contention at this point and I am looking towards a man city player if I'm honest. The N.london derby has been a goal fest in past games but the playing field is very different now with the amount of new players on both teams. I think it's going to be lower scoring than people expect seeing as the bar is set so high.

On the other hand, man city got beaten by Cardiff and I expect them to brush off, get back on the horse and go into this match with a do or die attitude.

Regardless of FF points, I'd love a good Derby this weekend and I hope its a 4+ goal affair

nailed on enough i reckon. think cissokho is there as enrique's hamstrings aren't the most reliable and johnson lb wisdom rb is not ideal.

although saying that you wonder if cissokho would go on loan to a club where he wouldn't get much game time
