Daniel Sturridge fails to recover from a thigh problem and is out of Englandโ€™s upcoming match with Ukraine. Luis Suarez bags a brace for Uruguay, Victor Moses is amongst the goals for Nigeria, while David Luiz and Ramires feature for Brazil as Oscar misses out with an ankle knock:

Sturridge Out of Ukraine Match

Daniel Sturridgeโ€™s Fantasy owners were given further reason for concern after the forward was
ruled out of Englandโ€™s qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday evening. The Liverpool man has failed to recover in time from the thigh problem that had been bothering him prior to last weekendโ€™s win over United and yesterdayโ€™s news will raise question marks over his availability for the Redsโ€™ next league fixture away to Swansea.

The Scout Says: Although the Gameweek 4 trip to the Liberty doesnโ€™t take place until Monday September 16, Sturridgeโ€™s propensity for picking up injuries is a real concern. Last season, he was sidelined at Chelsea with a hamstring injury, while a groin strain hampered his number of starts with the Merseysiders. Frustratingly, this comes at a time where heโ€™s turning in the most prolific performances of his career โ€“ grabbing the match-winner in each of the first three league matches. With an enticing run of games up next for Brendan Rodgersโ€™ side, the bandwagon was in overdrive but has now comes to a standstill on the back of his omission โ€“ given that Luis Suarez is back for Gameweek 6, Rodgers may decide to take it easy with Sturridge in order to prevent further injury. The arrival of Victor Moses could also see Iago Aspas pushed into the lone forward role, with Philippe Coutinho switching from the left flank into โ€œthe holeโ€ behind Aspas, should Rodgers choose to court caution. Both Suarez and Moses were in action last night for their international sides and the duo found the net – Moses grabbed Nigeria’s second against Malawai while Suarez notched both Uruguayโ€™s goals in a win away to Peru.

Luiz and Ramires Star for Samba Boys

Chelsea pair Ramires and David Luiz both featured in Brazilโ€™s 6-0 drubbing over Australia. Ramires, in the side for the injured Oscar, got himself on the scoresheet and earned an assist, while Luiz came through an hour before being replaced.

The Scout Says: Having started in the Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich, Luiz would now see firmly in the frame to figure in Jose Mourinhoโ€™s Premier League lineup when domestic matters reconvene for Gameweek 4โ€™s trip to Everton. It was John Terry who made way against Bayern and it remains to be seen how Mourinho will juggle his defence come Saturdayโ€™s tea-time kick-off. Luiz would seem set to figure in Brazilโ€™s friendly with Portugal on Tuesday before flying back to join up with the Bluesโ€™ squad. He has dropped to 6.3 from 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, representing a viable saving for the 31% who currently hold Branislav Ivanovic. Terry, meanwhile, is owed by over 5% of FPL managers who will doubtless be looking to the Goodison teamsheet with some trepidation. However, having been fully rested over the break, Terry could well be restored against the Toffees with both Gary Cahill and Luiz seeing minutes for their respective countries. Meanwhile, Oscarโ€™s reported ankle injury, reportedly sustained in training with Brazil, will make him an early doubt for Saturdayโ€™s clash โ€“ perhaps opening the door for Juan Mataโ€™s first league start of the season.

WHat's the appeal on Brady? Yes he's on penos but other than that?

He got decent fixture, but does people really see Hull scoring lots?

Assists machine. 15 last season I think. If he gets half of those in the Prem, along with a few pens, then he's good value.

It's all relative to the price. He's decent for 5m, it's not like anyone's picking him over Walcott . . .

Fair enough on the price. But, for example, over Pablo Hernandez?

Swansea are much more attacking team and Pablo is the team playmaker.

1m more expensive but more likely to produce the goods?

I see exactly what you're saying, I'm not bringing him in (and I have transferred in Hernandez this week!) but I think it depends how much you're comfortable having on your bench. I can't imagine many of the people bringing Brady in are planning on starting him each week, but say for the 0.5 more than a typical piece of bench fodder you have more strength on the bench if you need it. Which is exactly what you're saying with Hernandez, but slightly further down the scale.

If he's a 1st bencher, I'll be all over it. But there's a lot of love here having Brady as 4th midfielder.

Well yeah it's a matter of preference but I don't see Hull doing well and that will directly affect Brady's return.

            Hernandez in for me.

Although Hull - Swansea rotation up to GW19 is really good, so Brady and Williams (or any Swansea defender) is a possibility. But I'd rather play hoping Swansea everytime to score rather than keeping a CS, yes?

    UCL BEST BUDGET OPTIONS

    GOALKEEPERS:
Hildebrand - I believe he represents the best value for a 4.5m gk in the game. Great fixtures and value.
Wiland - Kobenhavn gk is 3.5m and is the only 3.5m starting goalkeeper in the game. Shame Kobenhavn are in a group with Juventus and Real Madrid though.
Diego Lopez - Many will be disappointed. The 3.5m Real Madrid gk is set to only start in La Liga games while Casillas plays in the CL games according to a recent report by Marca. http://www.marca.com/2013/09/05/en/football/real_madrid/1378366931.html

    DEFENDERS:
Uchida - 4.0m Schalke def. Not completely nailed on but starts more often than not. Nice cheap route into Schalke defence who have a favourable group.
Ambrose - 3.5m Celtic def. Efe is the only starting 3.5m defender in the game.

    MIDFIELDERS:
Bruno - 4.0m Anderlecht mid whose scored 5 goals in 6 games so far this season. Most importantly, he's OOP and plays upfront!
Josue - 4.5m Porto mid whose on penalties and has started 3/3 of Porto's league games so far scoring 2 goals in the process.

    FORWARDS:
Lima - 5.5m Benfica fwd. Now this guy is worth it. Nailed on and in 3 games so far in the Portuguese league has 1 goal and 1 assist. Excellently priced and in a favourable group with a great first fixture which sees him face Anderlecht at home.
Markovic - Not guaranteed game time but a 4.5m Benfica forward could be worth it. 2 goals in 2 games off the bench.
Musa - Nailed on 5.5m CSKA fwd whose scored 5 goals out of 7 games so far this season in the Russian PL. He's one for matchday 2 when CSKA face Viktoria Plzen at home.

Think I've covered the best budget options in the game here ๐Ÿ™‚

I see a lot of people saying the clean sheet bonanza will dry up and people with big defs will be screwed, this totally misses the point.
Based on last year big defenders scored more per million than mids and a lot more than forwards.
Evra Vertonghen Baines etc scored in the 22-25 points per million range, RVP just scraped 20.
Adding a possible 20-30 bonus points onto their score for a similar set of results (no upturn in clean sheets) means they are now worth an extra 1.0 to 1.5 million in value terms.
The historic problem with playing the value game was that you would end up with an 80-90 million team, that is not the case if you also bring in 2-3 big forwards also.
So the clean sheet bonanza does not need to continue for big defs to be viewed as underpriced.
The extra 3-4 million to upgrade to a premium mid can be split over your 3 4.5 defs to make 3 5.5 defs a lot more points for the same money.

Do Migs/Boruc rotate? I know alot of people are going for them too anyway, or Migs +4m

Lampard - bit risky, but could be great value at 8m

Lamela - unproven, also a lot of spurs midfielders to choose from

Clean sheets and goals balance. I recognise why it's done, but do you ever think that forwards deserve more points for goals than defenders? It's a forwards job to score, as it is a defenders to keep the opposition at bay- if defenders get more for goals, do forwards deserve 8 points for a clean sheet?

For me its about frequency. Defenders rarely score goals so they are worth more. However, that appears to be changing these days with teams more and more playing for set pieces. Just look at the number of penalties already.

If anything defenders deserve a clean sheet per half score before you start giving forwards points for them. A forward can spend 5 seconds scoring a goal and it wipes out 94 minutes of clean sheets for defenders on the other team.

Well, firstly I'm tired of this question.

I'm tired of Eriksen vs Lamela.

I'm tired of Tottenham's back 4? Is Dawson likely to retain his place?

Yes, none of it is directly your fault, but I'm channeling my anger towards you, bad luck.

The answer to your question - I think Eriksen will play as the most advanced midfielder in either the 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. But he could also be eased in by AVB. I'm clearly hoping for the former, as we need creativity in midfield.

Thanks for the advice. Not sure about getting Walcott and Ozil in the same team though? Maybe I should direct swap him. I would be hoping Ozil to be on pens also?

Don't know what to do about the goalkeepers, Migs doesnt really rotate with anyone that well, and would be doubling up on liverpool if I pick him...which may not be a bad thing I suppose.

Yeah I'd only want 2 from Walcott, Ozil and Giroud, definitely not all 3. Re your GK: If you're poicking someoone like Lloris, Szczez, Mig you don't really want to rotate them that often because they could get CS against almost anyone so you can pair them with a 4.0 or someone like Boruc, McGregor, Marshall for safety

Argh, yellow flags and rotation risks growing . . . I realise this is potentially contentious with the Sturridge injury debate ongoing, but would the following three concern you enough to make a transfer? And if so which one?

    Terry
    Oscar
    Sturridge

I reckon I could deal with 2 of the three failing to appear, but would be in for a rough week if they're all crocked. But they're really not the transfers I'd like to be making. Thoughts appreciated.

It amazes me how many peopele are using their wildcards and do not have RVP in their team. Home to Palace. Have you guys learned nothing from last year? i think people just want their overall team to look good on paper and that maybe having RVP will hinder that. Think again boys

        Stoke

The potential for 2-3 goals each of these weeks is huge.
Look what he done to swansea.

I would rarher RVP(c) plus a carefully selectes cheaper mid these weeks than a9.5 mid and 9.5 striker.

      Kroos not nailed
Gundogan injured and not a great fantasy option
      Srna plays as a fullback

Try getting in midfield: Hamsik Vidal Isco

You're gonna need Messi. Alaba/Lahm or both are a must. Maxwell 5.5m PSG defender represents great value. Consider CHE defender too.
      Eboue > Garay
      Villa > Lima

Isco can also provide Real cover if you don't want to spend 13.0m on Ronaldo

The debate about with RVP or without RVP:

    Team with RVP:

    Migs Lewis

    Chester Chambers Vidic Coleman Zab

    Brady Barkley Redmond Walcott Lamela

    RVP Tekkers Giroud

    Without

    Migs Lewis

    Collins Chambers Vidic Coleman Zab

    Walcott Lamela Brady Barkley Fellaini/Oscar/Haz/Cout

    Sturridge Benteke Giroud

I can't help but think that the without team will score more points even with RVP as captain.

Is Ozil likely to start in the next game? Should he be a player picked this week, or wait till the next.

Apparently I played it before too.
I went to register yesterday and it said my email already has an account. Must be years ago. I dont even remember, sure I never actually played actively if I was on before.

          Bayern I'd say Schweinsteiger.

In the game, Hamsik, Vidal, Isco, Oscar, Mkhitaryan (if he starts) are all pretty good options.

Lukaku at 7.4 in Everton could be an absolute steal! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

He'll probably get a game soon, score a brace and the place is his to loose. Will still be difficult to justify him over the likes of tekkers, Sturridge, Rvp etc though, with the threat of rotation. I sense a tough call coming up in the next couple of weeks.
