Daniel Sturridge fails to recover from a thigh problem and is out of Englandโ€™s upcoming match with Ukraine. Luis Suarez bags a brace for Uruguay, Victor Moses is amongst the goals for Nigeria, while David Luiz and Ramires feature for Brazil as Oscar misses out with an ankle knock:

Sturridge Out of Ukraine Match

Daniel Sturridgeโ€™s Fantasy owners were given further reason for concern after the forward was
ruled out of Englandโ€™s qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday evening. The Liverpool man has failed to recover in time from the thigh problem that had been bothering him prior to last weekendโ€™s win over United and yesterdayโ€™s news will raise question marks over his availability for the Redsโ€™ next league fixture away to Swansea.

The Scout Says: Although the Gameweek 4 trip to the Liberty doesnโ€™t take place until Monday September 16, Sturridgeโ€™s propensity for picking up injuries is a real concern. Last season, he was sidelined at Chelsea with a hamstring injury, while a groin strain hampered his number of starts with the Merseysiders. Frustratingly, this comes at a time where heโ€™s turning in the most prolific performances of his career โ€“ grabbing the match-winner in each of the first three league matches. With an enticing run of games up next for Brendan Rodgersโ€™ side, the bandwagon was in overdrive but has now comes to a standstill on the back of his omission โ€“ given that Luis Suarez is back for Gameweek 6, Rodgers may decide to take it easy with Sturridge in order to prevent further injury. The arrival of Victor Moses could also see Iago Aspas pushed into the lone forward role, with Philippe Coutinho switching from the left flank into โ€œthe holeโ€ behind Aspas, should Rodgers choose to court caution. Both Suarez and Moses were in action last night for their international sides and the duo found the net – Moses grabbed Nigeria’s second against Malawai while Suarez notched both Uruguayโ€™s goals in a win away to Peru.

Luiz and Ramires Star for Samba Boys

Chelsea pair Ramires and David Luiz both featured in Brazilโ€™s 6-0 drubbing over Australia. Ramires, in the side for the injured Oscar, got himself on the scoresheet and earned an assist, while Luiz came through an hour before being replaced.

The Scout Says: Having started in the Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich, Luiz would now see firmly in the frame to figure in Jose Mourinhoโ€™s Premier League lineup when domestic matters reconvene for Gameweek 4โ€™s trip to Everton. It was John Terry who made way against Bayern and it remains to be seen how Mourinho will juggle his defence come Saturdayโ€™s tea-time kick-off. Luiz would seem set to figure in Brazilโ€™s friendly with Portugal on Tuesday before flying back to join up with the Bluesโ€™ squad. He has dropped to 6.3 from 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, representing a viable saving for the 31% who currently hold Branislav Ivanovic. Terry, meanwhile, is owed by over 5% of FPL managers who will doubtless be looking to the Goodison teamsheet with some trepidation. However, having been fully rested over the break, Terry could well be restored against the Toffees with both Gary Cahill and Luiz seeing minutes for their respective countries. Meanwhile, Oscarโ€™s reported ankle injury, reportedly sustained in training with Brazil, will make him an early doubt for Saturdayโ€™s clash โ€“ perhaps opening the door for Juan Mataโ€™s first league start of the season.

WOAH! I can help you again.

Bonucci? No, no. Get Lichtsteiner. 0.5m cheaper and is much more of an attack threat being a wingback in Juve's 3-5-2 formation. Scored two goals for Switzerland a couple of days ago against Iceland and is nailed on.

Any reason there isn't much love for Lambert on here? Stats in members area look good as well as RMT tool. Also has 4 home fixtures in the next 6. The only reason I can think is the Sturridge, Benteke and Soldado provide better captaincy options?

Posted this at the start of the season, now updated to cover gameweeks 4 through 15:

One thing that is always worth looking out for is spells where sides have 3 home games in 4, especially if this is against relatively easy opposition.

Fulham GW 4-7 - Chelsea away is nasty but the 3 home games look good
Fulham GW12-15 – Fairly decent though West Ham away and Spurs at home not easy
Hull GW 4-7 – Tempting for the likes of Brady and Chester
    Hull GW10-13 – Ditto
Man City GW10-13 – Time to get back on board with City for this run
    Man Utd GW 6-9 - irresistible, RVP a must-have?
Southampton GW 4-9 (i.e. both) - two nasty away games, but 4 good home fixtures.
Swansea GW 8-11 - Time to think about Michu. Lovely fixtures.
Tottenham GW 4-9 (i.e. both) - Chelsea at home not great, but otherwise 5 lovely fixtures (though Villa away may be tougher than first thought)

I have Coleman and want to settle on two other premium defenders to put in and forget about. Choices:

    Vidic
    Evra
Zabaleta (I have him now but have concerns)
    Ivan
    Terry
    Luiz
    Cole

Who are likely to produce the most points this season?

Kelly is the better, more experienced player, but being as injury prone he is he might not get thrown straight in. Toure can play RB, did it a few times for Citeh iirc. I expect it'll be Wisdom playing, at least at first, but he is far from nailed on or safe.

Suarez vs Sturridge when playing together.

    They played together a total of 10 times last season (GW22-26, 29, 30, 32-34).

    Suarez: 5g 2a
    Sturridge: 5g 2a

Sturridge played significantly less minutes than Suarez as when he was playing with Suarez it included getting up to fitness after joining from Chelsea.

It is also interesting to note that in the 7 games that Suarez has been banned for (last 4 from last season and first 3 this) that Sturridge has scored 8 goals and assisted 1. While it is likely that Sturridge's involvement in Liverpool's goals will decrease, his form combined with the added threat when Suarez returns/Coutinho moves central will likely mean he just has a smaller piece of a larger pie.

at the end of last season when they were playing together and Sturr was fit he had the best stats in the league when looking at shots in the box and on target. Suarez running at defenders just opens up so much space.

Will certainly be up there, but it's a big ask for him to complete 30+ games given his injury-proneness.

for sure, but I think he can handle it. I think his body is still getting used to playing all the time and not feeling the bench under his arse.

Suarez created 89 chances in 33 app last season. 6th best in the league in this category. So I think Sturridge may benefit from it

Afternoon lads. I have Johnson and will probably have to take him out. I want another Pool defender. Has anyone got a crystal ball and can tell me what the Liverpool back four will be for the foreseeable?

Not a bad shout Dnivy. I was being blinded by the cheap possibility of Wisdom and the (cheaper than Agger) Sahko. Agger could well be my choice.

I can see both Toure and Skrtel stealing game time from Sakho. Also, Kelly will pretty soon be available for the right back spot.

Coming from an LFC fan I'd say..

Going to change a bit in the next few weeks.

      For now will be

      Wisdom - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique

Skrtel and Wisdom will be replaced over the next couple of weeks by Toure and Sakho.

Only real bankers long term are Agger and Enrique.

On the wildcard at the moment. Any advice or suggestions to do change this team for the better?

    Mignolet, given
    Ferdinand, Coleman, nastatic, Chester, chambers
    Özil, yaya, Brady, Sinclair, ward-p
    RVP, giroud, Sturridge

Would get rid of chambers and ward-p (and get in som enticing GW5 fixtures). They're not nailed on, and if they're benched/don't score points in GW4, the following away game against LIV will make people dump them.

Anyone thinking about puncheon to rotate with Brady? Leaves you plenty of money to get migs and your 3 favorite defenders, MFs and strikers. They rotate well

Really happy to see Wenger get a new contract, despite not being an Arsenal fan I think it is great managers like him who make this league great. I dont understand why fans ever doubt him with the injuries they have I am surprised they are in top 10 most years not to mention top 4 where they actually end up.
