Daniel Sturridge fails to recover from a thigh problem and is out of England’s upcoming match with Ukraine. Luis Suarez bags a brace for Uruguay, Victor Moses is amongst the goals for Nigeria, while David Luiz and Ramires feature for Brazil as Oscar misses out with an ankle knock:

Sturridge Out of Ukraine Match

Daniel Sturridge’s Fantasy owners were given further reason for concern after the forward was
ruled out of England’s qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday evening. The Liverpool man has failed to recover in time from the thigh problem that had been bothering him prior to last weekend’s win over United and yesterday’s news will raise question marks over his availability for the Reds’ next league fixture away to Swansea.

The Scout Says: Although the Gameweek 4 trip to the Liberty doesn’t take place until Monday September 16, Sturridge’s propensity for picking up injuries is a real concern. Last season, he was sidelined at Chelsea with a hamstring injury, while a groin strain hampered his number of starts with the Merseysiders. Frustratingly, this comes at a time where he’s turning in the most prolific performances of his career – grabbing the match-winner in each of the first three league matches. With an enticing run of games up next for Brendan Rodgers’ side, the bandwagon was in overdrive but has now comes to a standstill on the back of his omission – given that Luis Suarez is back for Gameweek 6, Rodgers may decide to take it easy with Sturridge in order to prevent further injury. The arrival of Victor Moses could also see Iago Aspas pushed into the lone forward role, with Philippe Coutinho switching from the left flank into “the hole” behind Aspas, should Rodgers choose to court caution. Both Suarez and Moses were in action last night for their international sides and the duo found the net – Moses grabbed Nigeria’s second against Malawai while Suarez notched both Uruguay’s goals in a win away to Peru.

Luiz and Ramires Star for Samba Boys

Chelsea pair Ramires and David Luiz both featured in Brazil’s 6-0 drubbing over Australia. Ramires, in the side for the injured Oscar, got himself on the scoresheet and earned an assist, while Luiz came through an hour before being replaced.

The Scout Says: Having started in the Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich, Luiz would now see firmly in the frame to figure in Jose Mourinho’s Premier League lineup when domestic matters reconvene for Gameweek 4’s trip to Everton. It was John Terry who made way against Bayern and it remains to be seen how Mourinho will juggle his defence come Saturday’s tea-time kick-off. Luiz would seem set to figure in Brazil’s friendly with Portugal on Tuesday before flying back to join up with the Blues’ squad. He has dropped to 6.3 from 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, representing a viable saving for the 31% who currently hold Branislav Ivanovic. Terry, meanwhile, is owed by over 5% of FPL managers who will doubtless be looking to the Goodison teamsheet with some trepidation. However, having been fully rested over the break, Terry could well be restored against the Toffees with both Gary Cahill and Luiz seeing minutes for their respective countries. Meanwhile, Oscar’s reported ankle injury, reportedly sustained in training with Brazil, will make him an early doubt for Saturday’s clash – perhaps opening the door for Juan Mata’s first league start of the season.

Thoughts of this 4-3-3 WC team?

    Mignolet / 4.0

    Terry / Vidic / Nastasic / Mertesaker / 4.0

    Walcott / Lampard / Barkley / Brady / 4.5

    RVP / Sturridge / Giroud

My defence covers Liverpool, Chelsea, United, City and Arsenal.

I plan to rotate Barkley and Brady depending on fixtures.

      I like it a lot.

Can I give you a controversial thought? Perhaps you'd be better with another defender at 5m instead of Brady and Barkley. Pens for Brady aside I can see a lot of 2/3 pointers and you MAY be better served in chasing the clean sheets.

Any thoughts on which one should I go for:

    Mingolet Davies

    Zabaleta Whittaker Colemam Collins Chester

Lampard Walcott Ben Arfa Lamela Ward Prose

    Giroud Sturridge Benteke

3.2 in the bank in case I want to get Suarez and Ozil

    Or

    Mingolet Davies

    Zabaleta Whittaker Colemam Collins Chester

Lampard Walcott Ben Arfa Brady Redmond

    Giroud Sturridge RVP

0.7 in the bank to upgrade Wally to Ozil

Going to Malaysia where I have an apartment sorted via a friend, but from there you can fly all over with their easyJet equivalent (http://www.airasia.com/). I just booked a flight now as they have a sale on and it actually costs me more to get the train to work than to fly from one side of Malaysia to the other, £9!!.

But Central/South America I didn't travel in such luxury and it was buses all the way down but all in all I spent maybe £800-£900 a month for absolutely everything (food, accom, drinking most nights, the odd tourist trip, travel etc). I am expecting Asia to be cheaper than that even, especially if you use standard transport.

Agree with BR to not pack too heavy, if you're out there for a while then if there is anything you need just buy it out there.

not been backpacking per se, but do a lot of travelling and the advice 'pack everything, then take half as many clothes and twice as much money' is good. And beware of taking books because they are very heavy.

          UCL BEST BUDGET OPTIONS

          GOALKEEPERS:
Hildebrand - I believe he represents the best value for a 4.5m gk in the game. Great fixtures and value.
Wiland - Kobenhavn gk is 3.5m and is the only 3.5m starting goalkeeper in the game. Shame Kobenhavn are in a group with Juventus and Real Madrid though.
Diego Lopez - Many will be disappointed. The 3.5m Real Madrid gk is set to only start in La Liga games while Casillas plays in the CL games according to a recent report by Marca. http://www.marca.com/2013/09/05/en/football/real_madrid/1378366931.html

          DEFENDERS:
Uchida - 4.0m Schalke def. Not completely nailed on but starts more often than not. Nice cheap route into Schalke defence who have a favourable group.
Ambrose - 3.5m Celtic def. Efe is the only starting 3.5m defender in the game.

          MIDFIELDERS:
Bruno - 4.0m Anderlecht mid whose scored 5 goals in 6 games so far this season. Most importantly, he's OOP and plays upfront!
Josue - 4.5m Porto mid whose on penalties and has started 3/3 of Porto's league games so far scoring 2 goals in the process.

          FORWARDS:
Lima - 5.5m Benfica fwd. Now this guy is worth it. Nailed on and in 3 games so far in the Portuguese league has 1 goal and 1 assist. Excellently priced and in a favourable group with a great first fixture which sees him face Anderlecht at home.
Markovic - Not guaranteed game time but a 4.5m Benfica forward could be worth it. 2 goals in 2 games off the bench.
Musa - Nailed on 5.5m CSKA fwd whose scored 5 goals out of 7 games so far this season in the Russian PL. He's one for matchday 2 when CSKA face Viktoria Plzen at home.

Think I've covered the best budget options in the game here 🙂 .

They've looked a far more solid defensive unit this year, although Jenkinson is probably the weak link. But Ramsey and Wilshere playing in the double pivot will help them a bit more as they seem to have a really good understanding in there now. They kept Spurs very quiet! I'd invest

Go for it if you'd like though, could change people like Yacob/Kim for the likes of JWP/Brady/Whittingham and ditch Yoshida, bring in Walcott etc.

      Lichtsteiner, Vidic, Alaba, Uchida, Spahic

Looks decent, I would lose Mirallas for Sess or Ben Arfa. Eriksen could be a great shout but u wouldn't invest just yet

I think it is Madness to get Danny with Rooney fit he will spend most of his time out of position on the wing and is not a great finisher. Id keep your players

That's my concern. Kidding myself that he's an alternative to RVP.

Which would you dump for RVP? Tempted by Lambert and getting WP, but not sure how long he'll be nailed on for.

In the event this 352 comes to fruition, Enrique may be a decent shout. Even as a FB rather than WB he's still very attacking.

BUT does he have VDVesque hammies?
