Daniel Sturridge fails to recover from a thigh problem and is out of England’s upcoming match with Ukraine. Luis Suarez bags a brace for Uruguay, Victor Moses is amongst the goals for Nigeria, while David Luiz and Ramires feature for Brazil as Oscar misses out with an ankle knock:

Sturridge Out of Ukraine Match

Daniel Sturridge’s Fantasy owners were given further reason for concern after the forward was
ruled out of England’s qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday evening. The Liverpool man has failed to recover in time from the thigh problem that had been bothering him prior to last weekend’s win over United and yesterday’s news will raise question marks over his availability for the Reds’ next league fixture away to Swansea.

The Scout Says: Although the Gameweek 4 trip to the Liberty doesn’t take place until Monday September 16, Sturridge’s propensity for picking up injuries is a real concern. Last season, he was sidelined at Chelsea with a hamstring injury, while a groin strain hampered his number of starts with the Merseysiders. Frustratingly, this comes at a time where he’s turning in the most prolific performances of his career – grabbing the match-winner in each of the first three league matches. With an enticing run of games up next for Brendan Rodgers’ side, the bandwagon was in overdrive but has now comes to a standstill on the back of his omission – given that Luis Suarez is back for Gameweek 6, Rodgers may decide to take it easy with Sturridge in order to prevent further injury. The arrival of Victor Moses could also see Iago Aspas pushed into the lone forward role, with Philippe Coutinho switching from the left flank into “the hole” behind Aspas, should Rodgers choose to court caution. Both Suarez and Moses were in action last night for their international sides and the duo found the net – Moses grabbed Nigeria’s second against Malawai while Suarez notched both Uruguay’s goals in a win away to Peru.

Luiz and Ramires Star for Samba Boys

Chelsea pair Ramires and David Luiz both featured in Brazil’s 6-0 drubbing over Australia. Ramires, in the side for the injured Oscar, got himself on the scoresheet and earned an assist, while Luiz came through an hour before being replaced.

The Scout Says: Having started in the Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich, Luiz would now see firmly in the frame to figure in Jose Mourinho’s Premier League lineup when domestic matters reconvene for Gameweek 4’s trip to Everton. It was John Terry who made way against Bayern and it remains to be seen how Mourinho will juggle his defence come Saturday’s tea-time kick-off. Luiz would seem set to figure in Brazil’s friendly with Portugal on Tuesday before flying back to join up with the Blues’ squad. He has dropped to 6.3 from 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, representing a viable saving for the 31% who currently hold Branislav Ivanovic. Terry, meanwhile, is owed by over 5% of FPL managers who will doubtless be looking to the Goodison teamsheet with some trepidation. However, having been fully rested over the break, Terry could well be restored against the Toffees with both Gary Cahill and Luiz seeing minutes for their respective countries. Meanwhile, Oscar’s reported ankle injury, reportedly sustained in training with Brazil, will make him an early doubt for Saturday’s clash – perhaps opening the door for Juan Mata’s first league start of the season.

I've for a good idea. Back when this site started there was not as many people using it. So you could have done pretty good discussions. These days our posts get pretty much lost as so many other people are posting.

My idea is that every time you post, you must answer three other posts. Like a goodwill type if thing.

Decided to alter my team a little:

    Mignolet /4m
    Zabaleta Walker Coleman Chester /Ward
    Hazard Silva Walcott /Hernandez; Morrison
    Sturridge Benteke Giroud

    GW4-9 RMT = 309

    to

    Mignolet /4m
    Walker Chester Evra /Coleman; Ward
    Lampard Coutinho Walcott Brady /Hernandez
    Soldado Benteke Giroud

    GW4-9 RMT = 325

    Thoughts?

      Improved.

Evra has better fixtures than Zabs .. Good
Hazard is probably injured and Morrison likely to keep starting from bench .. Lamp & Brady better.

So, Glen Johnson is another absentee for the back four that keep 3 CS for Liverpool.

For 10 weeks, Wisdom @4.4m would be handy to include in the team but I think CS chance would be significantly dropped without K.Toure and GJ.

Johnson was told to rest his ankle foe a week 5 days ago before they assess his conditon.

I don't see how a Mirror hack can give out a 10 week absence before any thing official comes out in a few days. I don't buy it.

Do we see wisdom playing at right back then for GJ of out for 10 weeks?

I don't recall ever seeing Kolo or Agger playing right back, I believe their new 'marquee' signing (Rodgers words not mine) has played left back but is a centre half in the main.

In terms of assists I'd say Ozil but Walcott could be a major beneficiary of Ozil's assists but the goals are going to be shared with Giroud...

Those that are going 4-3-3 or even 5-2-3 ...

Are you not terrified that your defence might all concede and that you'll be stuck on 30 points for the week, while 3-4-3 players will all have their players scoring against you?

I think you need a plan b. I'm planning to have a 433 which reverts to a more conventional 343 on occasion. Hopefully ( though I'm sure I'll mess it up) ill drop the right player each week

You do realise that the difference between 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 is just one Def for one Mid? Would be pretty unlikely that the hypothetical mid will even be playing against the hypothetical defender, let alone score.

But others teams players scoring against your defenders is a risk we all have to deal with.

How is this team looking for next week? It involves 1 hit to do miralas + dzeko >> Brady + rvp

    Boruc (foster)
    Ivan Coleman Chester (murner ward)
    Wally taarabt coutinho Brady (kim)
    Soldado lambert Rvp...0.8m ITB

I think it's a decent team...can take another hit for foster > speroni/myhill? Or Ivan >> koscielny? This way I can grade Brady

If I take another hit to downgrade foster/Ivan, I can get either pabloH/barfa/paulinho...
Normally not a fan of two hits but hate havin such much money tied up in Ivan who I don't think will keep a cs whereas koscielny is a better long term option

Oooh. No price change imminent = dont move yet.

What if more injuries happen now.
      What if Riether gets injured?

I am considering this move too

I have Aguero, Toure and Silva + 3.5m
I want RVP this week, Walcott next.
That gives me 5.2 for Toure swap if I -4.
Still undecided whether to take a hit and if so who for.

Decided to do a little team surgery, and this is how its currently looking, but have 1.5m in the bank, so looking for some advice on where to upgrade...

    Mignolet/4m
    Coleman/Zabaleta/Chester/Turner/Whitaker
    Lampard/Walcott/HBA/Silva/Barkley
Giroud/Soldado/Sturridge (or Benteke if Sturridge injury persists)

Would much appreciate some wise council from you great people!

Following up from a couple pages back:

There should be the Minnows World Cup

San Marino, Turks & Caicos Islands, Andorra, Bhutan, Djibouti, Seychelles, Bahamas, and any team playing barefoot.

It could be held in Luxembourg.

      Maybe, unless someone else shines.

When England played Scotland last month, the commentator made some random fact about the number 66. 66 steps or something. Then followed it up with the old 1966 story. Classic.
