Daniel Sturridge fails to recover from a thigh problem and is out of England’s upcoming match with Ukraine. Luis Suarez bags a brace for Uruguay, Victor Moses is amongst the goals for Nigeria, while David Luiz and Ramires feature for Brazil as Oscar misses out with an ankle knock:

Sturridge Out of Ukraine Match

Daniel Sturridge’s Fantasy owners were given further reason for concern after the forward was
ruled out of England’s qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday evening. The Liverpool man has failed to recover in time from the thigh problem that had been bothering him prior to last weekend’s win over United and yesterday’s news will raise question marks over his availability for the Reds’ next league fixture away to Swansea.

The Scout Says: Although the Gameweek 4 trip to the Liberty doesn’t take place until Monday September 16, Sturridge’s propensity for picking up injuries is a real concern. Last season, he was sidelined at Chelsea with a hamstring injury, while a groin strain hampered his number of starts with the Merseysiders. Frustratingly, this comes at a time where he’s turning in the most prolific performances of his career – grabbing the match-winner in each of the first three league matches. With an enticing run of games up next for Brendan Rodgers’ side, the bandwagon was in overdrive but has now comes to a standstill on the back of his omission – given that Luis Suarez is back for Gameweek 6, Rodgers may decide to take it easy with Sturridge in order to prevent further injury. The arrival of Victor Moses could also see Iago Aspas pushed into the lone forward role, with Philippe Coutinho switching from the left flank into “the hole” behind Aspas, should Rodgers choose to court caution. Both Suarez and Moses were in action last night for their international sides and the duo found the net – Moses grabbed Nigeria’s second against Malawai while Suarez notched both Uruguay’s goals in a win away to Peru.

Luiz and Ramires Star for Samba Boys

Chelsea pair Ramires and David Luiz both featured in Brazil’s 6-0 drubbing over Australia. Ramires, in the side for the injured Oscar, got himself on the scoresheet and earned an assist, while Luiz came through an hour before being replaced.

The Scout Says: Having started in the Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich, Luiz would now see firmly in the frame to figure in Jose Mourinho’s Premier League lineup when domestic matters reconvene for Gameweek 4’s trip to Everton. It was John Terry who made way against Bayern and it remains to be seen how Mourinho will juggle his defence come Saturday’s tea-time kick-off. Luiz would seem set to figure in Brazil’s friendly with Portugal on Tuesday before flying back to join up with the Blues’ squad. He has dropped to 6.3 from 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, representing a viable saving for the 31% who currently hold Branislav Ivanovic. Terry, meanwhile, is owed by over 5% of FPL managers who will doubtless be looking to the Goodison teamsheet with some trepidation. However, having been fully rested over the break, Terry could well be restored against the Toffees with both Gary Cahill and Luiz seeing minutes for their respective countries. Meanwhile, Oscar’s reported ankle injury, reportedly sustained in training with Brazil, will make him an early doubt for Saturday’s clash – perhaps opening the door for Juan Mata’s first league start of the season.

Anyone else do the championship fantasy football?

Its insanely difficult but somehow a friend is 4th in the world.

In our mini league, whoever comes bottom of a gameweek has to drink a shot of gin through a straw on camera before the next gameweek. Makes the part timers pay more attention for sure

        Explain?

5/6 highest scoring defenders are currently full backs.
New system favours defenders more than old.
        Defenders cost less.

Outliers and blips. I think I saw that Zabaleta had one successful cross. A bit of luck with assists and bps and they could easily be higher than the steadier points scored by CBs.

yeah...but it's cannonball Walker we are talking about...I wouldn't want to get in the way of anything he hits from inside or outside the box...Going off the stats then it's Walker/Coleman/Baines as clear stand out choices long term...attacking wise anyway...http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/3832/

Giroud - away not on pens
Soldado - on pens but yet to score from open play
Benteke - on pens and has scored from open play

Welcome to this Afternoon Press Conference with Cardiff Head Coach Thomass67
Reporter: "Congratulations on winning the TWS award. Well deserved"
    Thomas; "Thank you very much"
Reporter; What made you join Cardiff?
Thomas; "The history of the club is massive that is why I wanted to manage Cardiff".
Reporter; How did you enjoy being the Cardiff Head Coach?
Thomas; "I was very proud as you imagine that I'm the 1st Head Coach of this Transfer Simulation game, it's a club with wonderful tradition and I'm very blessed to coach the club".
Reporter; This was a big step up for you, how did you manage it?
Thomas; "It's the same as I've managed every challenge I've faced, my path as a young coach been different to most, even know I'm young in age I've actually been playing the Fantasy Premier League which has lots of similarities to budgets, I've been working on Budgets for the last 4 years, what helped me was the inspiration of Granville who told me when I was in England with my South Africa boys take my coaching badges where I spend nearly 3 months working their. When I look at the age I don't really mind because it doesn't tell anything".
Reporter; What are your future ambitions?
Thomas; "I want to go from strength to strength. I have learnt enough lessons in the first season of TWS. I would like to become the owner of a club in the next season. I believe I am a born leader"
Reporter: Thanks for your time Thomas. That ends the press conference, thank you for joining in.

Realistically we all expect Sturridge to be fit.

I don't think Suarez's return will have much impact or Sturridge's points either way. He will help our attack and reinvigorate the team (even with his immoral history his on pitch presence is huge), though when he presses forward Sturridge won't always be the man to put it in the net.

More interesting is the Johnson situation, if he's out for even a few weeks Wisdom could be a great option for those on WC. He would most likely fill in the RB role and is very exciting for us, he likes to bomb forward a bit too!!

I would imagine that if Sturridge is any way fit at all he'll play - he wasn't fully fit against Utd and played so that will keep happening.

The Suarez return could affect Sturridge in the manor that he won't be guaranteed 90 mins all the time as Rodgers has the option to push Luis down the middle and give him the extra rest his injury prone body clearly needs.

I agree with the Wisdom comments, as it stands he's the 2nd choice RB so for 4.4m might be another way into the Liverpool backline

      a) you spend too long on here like the rest of us
      b) quality for the majority of 10/11, started well 11/12

Whenever options like this arise, I just feel you may as well chase a clean sheet.

Chelsea is a minefield apropos picking starters.

I might take Silva, but not sure which of the 5 to bin in that case.

I doubt I'll get Nani. He's good value, but only if United can get back on track.

Since Kompany is out for a while, shall i do Zab > Vidic? (On a WC) Due to united favorable fixtures.

Other option is to do Zab > Wisdom next week as GJ is out for about 10 weeks.
